Sure. But to transfer in for a year as depth? Has to be more to it if he signs on, imo.
Transfer in for a year of riding the pine behind Spencer Lee? Really? Who would transfer in their last season of eligibility as a room guy?
I wondered that, too. Seems like quite the sacrifice for that to be an actual plan.
Looks wise he’s a pretty muscular kid, and like 5 or 6 years ago he won a Junior National Greco-Roman title at 132 lbs while still in HS. He competed at 133 in 2020. He was a B12 runner-up and finished 5th at NCAAs in 2021. I imagine the weight cut probably didn’t help him too much. He’s got a ton of experience, and IMHO a slight upgrade over Schriever.

Lamont wouldn’t be a for sure AA or anything but I would pick him to beat schriever in a close one if they were to wrestle right now.
I would pick him to either win or lose a close one to just about anyone. He’d be a crap shoot at a National Tourney. He would be pretty solid in a tightly contested dual as he’s got the skills to keep it close with top rated wrestlers.

So what u all are saying is go after other teams recruits to put over brand’s recruits is the Iowa way now
We’re saying, go get the talent to win national titles. Once they come to Iowa, they are Iowa recruits, dummy.
In this new transfer portal era of college wrestling not going after transfers would be a quick way to make sure you don’t win a team title
