i mean... that's kinda the point. It doesn't "always" start with the coach. I can't with 100% certainty say a coach hasn't EVER told a booster to go get a guy. Can you?
I'd suggest a booster acting autonomously happens very rarely. Far less than even 10% of the time. So if you believe that proves your point, so be it.
Definitely more than 10%. Wrestling is just new to this. But I'm also including those in the periphery, who aren't necessarily "boosters."
So in the Welsh case, for instance, it wasn't a booster who started discussions, but someone around the program, who isn't on staff.

Agree that I'd take whatever math is better that gives me the best deal possible. Colleges can find money anywhere. If your kids end up going to college, tell university A that university B offered this package and watch university A counter back with a lower number!

So what? That’s peanuts compared to what he and Jax will ultimately be paid. Ohio State had McCort wrestle a dual at the Covelli Center. Why wasn’t it game over then? Okie State is definitely in play, but this is an overreaction.
Best recruiting tip for Iowa is to beat Okie State in the dual. 6 of their starters are from NIL/Portal and it seems like they are in the “buying game” as well.

No did mention being excited about going to these duels because he and Jax can go to another OSU duel tonight with Vtech, and can talk to the coaches more and many other coaches who plan on being there. This will be the third OSU meet him and Jax have been to in the last month. Went to a Vtech meet also, so will be second time seeing them this month. He thinks these were amazing environments. Need to get him and Jax to at least one big home meet this year to even have a chance. OSU does seem to be in the driver seat. Ironically, Gilman seems to be the main recruiter for these guys. Sticking it to us again. Thank god he didn’t beat Spencer for the Olympic spot
Right now assuming Teamer is back OSU is favored at 125, 141, 174, 184 and 285. Iowa favored at 133, 149, 157, 165 and 197. 165 and 184 look to have similarly ranked guys. Bonus will be big and they are large favorites at 125 and 141 and Hendrickson is always a bonus threat to anyone not named Kerkvleit or Steveson.

it happens. Sometimes I dream about Iowa beating Penn State at nationals and in recruiting and it almost feels like a reality
I watched the Oklahoma State/Vtech meet last night. Vtech wasn’t very competitive for the #6-7 team. They were also missing 2 starters which didn’t help. Agree about Hendrickson and bonus, he’s a pinner, Ben better not roll around with him much. I know Bo has bragged about the atmosphere at okyst, but I was very unimpressed last night. It was a home meet, undefeated with excitement about new big name coach, against the first top ten team for them this year, with the two biggest recruits in the country there again, and the top half of the arena was empty and the bottom was about half full. They were quiet except for a few big moments. The only time they seem to almost fill the arena and make some noise is when Iowa is in town. Go figure. We should never lose a recruit based on atmosphere, even for our road meets

All I keep hearing about is how OK st has some zillionair dude throwing a ton of cash at the program!?!?!? It would not appear to be just about $$$$ with BO, but who knows exactly what the BIGGEST factor in landing him actually will be?
I can not picture The HAWKS losing him to anyone IF it is ALL about wrestling!!! I envy IOWA as being the epicenter of Wrestling and WrestleTown USA is where he gets the absolute most out of this sport as far as following/fans/attendance etc.....
That being said, I guess only he and his family know what % of each piece of the PIE weighs? I can honestly say I do not see a bad choice of what I would consider the top 4 of IOWA, Ok st, Ohio st, F*** st.

Oky st is now ahead of us in club team and Taylor and his billionaire is really emphasizing building that part of the program. This is another reason they have a big advantage over us with Bo. He seems more concerned about his freestyle international career than his college career, and wants this to be his long term home past college for training. Of course PSU is still miles ahead of everyone with senior level stuff. Would be funny if in the end they all go to PSU , which is still a distinct possibility. Would really sting if Ross ends up at PSU or oky st.

Not so sure about the club team? I mean we have SL/ desanto/terry who ALL would be BIG factors in next level success!!! Just having LEE alone has to be considered HUGE for what he brings to the table. Hopefully SLs body holds up for another Olympic run, which then you could have them both going/ drilling together with Terry coaching, Desanto, maybe Dennis TWOOOOO!!!! How you gonna beat that!?!?!?!
