Recruiting

It isn’t a shocker to the rest of us that you didn’t understand this at all. And still don’t.
AND it isn't a shocker that you don't either but will not admit it!!! OR are you on the POS ncaa rules committee and care to explain???
Guess it does matter since he won’t be a starter unless someone goes down.
Can he transfer in to IOWA and take over 157? We can "great Krailure a shirt" for Teemer!

I’m just talking about the 30 man roster limit and the number of really significant guys any one team has.
I see what you are saying, but IF it is a hard limit of 30??? My guess is some "room" guys have to get cut and/or move on. Then once you are at the 30, you may have some "top" guys make a decision to move on instead of riding the pine. Then you could be under the 30, yet a kid might lose an opportunity sadly!

We are seeing a lot of backups in Football moving on now, great example is all the QBs right now!

Starter for Syracuse was a back up at michigan I believe? Also it might have been BYUs QB was a transfer also? I know I saw a few games just recently with transfers at the helm.

One of the big stories was the kid from UNLV leaving after 4 games and a great start to the season. Sucks for the team, but it seems that some promises made were not kept? I am sure that this could become a problem too if big offers of $$$$ don't get paid?

I am guessing IOWA will be picking up some of the F*** st kids who then will go on to beat the nitWit lion which will be awesome!

I understand it just fine. Similar to anyone else with remedial level reading comprehension.

Actually, Facundo was seen with crutches or a walking boot, don't recall exactly, but something of that nature. IIRC, this was observed at the Wyoming dual on Dec 15.

The PSU staff did not disclose the nature of his injury (surprise, surprise), other than Facundo "tweaked something" and will be out a few weeks.

We call that "getting Jenkins"! As in Bubba Jenkins, when he beat Taylor (PSU) in the finals after transferring to ASU.

This Iowa sucks at recruiting schtick is getting so tired and is simply very inaccurate. Including the 2025 class, Iowa will have 7 top 15 lb4lb recruits in DeLuca, Ayala, Kennedy, Arnold, Ferrari, Ludington and Kueter. On top of that, they will still have Caliendo and a strong likelihood they get a couple more high end transfers like they have for several years now! If you go even deeper, a couple of them were #1 overalls at some point…

Who, other than PSU is really doing that, let alone better? Make no mistake, the bar PSU is at right now simply can’t be achieved by a 2nd team without them dropping down of their own accord. So, please, for the love of God, stop with the incessant whining and insulting recruiting. The only thing it does is make you look bad.

If you want Iowa to somehow catch PSU in this category, I completely get it. Just stop with the bashing because they haven’t. They are still recruiting very well, it is just that PSU is simply in unprecedented territory and using that level to measure “poor” recruiting simply is NOT a fair or accurate tool…

I didn’t notice, but I only watched him wrestle. We have 2 big holes next year, and block can only move up to one of them. How many years does Cardenas have left?
Hoping Deluca can come in next year and be nails. He hasn’t wrestled in a while so he’s been missing some development. Not sure what wil happen at 149 next year but VV, Estrada, Rathjen, Block will all be there. I don’t think any of these guys will be effective at 157 next year. Cardenas will have three more years.

We need someone big time at 141 as well.
125, 141, 157, 197 all needing attention.

Ok was going off wrestlestat which had him R12 and 4th, RS this year.
You appear to be correct. Cardenas wrestled for Stanford in 2022-23 (true freshman, finishing R12 at NCAAs) and 2023-24 (true sophomore, finished in 4th place at NCAAs). Then redshirt in 2024-25. Should have two seasons of eligilbity remaining (2025-26 and 2026-27).

There WILL be top (I.e. AA-caliber) guys moving on from Penn State to start somewhere else. There is no if about it. They have too many guys who are too good to be room guys. The question is who, when, and to where. That has nothing to do with the 30 man limit, though.

Let's not get ridiculous here. Penn State does not have >30 AA caliber kids on their roster.

125: Lilledahl, McHenry
133: Davis, Nagao (inj)
141: Bartlett
149: SVN
157: Kasak, Facundo (inj)
165: Mesenbrink, Sealey (RS)
174: Haines, Ryder (RS)
184: Starocci
197: Barr, Cochran, Connor Mirasola (RS)
HWT: Kerkvliet, Cole Mirasola (RS)

There are 18 guys on their roster who I would consider either NQ or better quality now or potential AA caliber in the future who are indispensable either for depth this year or future starters. With 12 additional spots, it allows them to keep:

133 Steen
141 Nasdeo, Cunningham (RS), Weiss (RS)
149 Pierce
165 Dunbar, Watson (RS)
174 Lee, Gibson, Kelly
197 Fricchione
HWT Bundy (RS)

That's 30 guys. If they are limited to just 30, you're already down into the ranks of room guys who wouldn't see the light of day for any top 30 team. The 30 man limit is not going to affect them other than to bar kids not currently on scholarship or NIL from being room guys.
i would include David Evans in the first group even though he hasn’t wrestled yet this season

I couldn’t help but notice Gilman and DT all smiling and interacting with Iowa coaches. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Can’t wait for DT and Gilly to ditch Stillwater for Iowa City!!
When was this? Certainly didn't happen Monday night. Zero interaction among them. Now Taylor/Gilman and Tony Ramos is another story.

Pretty bold statement. I will give you another one.
There will be top level NC/high AA recruits going to Penn State. Don’t know who or when but it will happen.
In other news, water is wet, fire is hot and vague predictions without substance can either be right or wrong. Crazy I know

Kinda of like PSUers try to avoid getting “Ramos-ed” when closing out a multiple NCAA champion career

Good link.
Within the link, when you click on USA wrestling RTC Locations you’ll see Oklahoma RTC and Panther Wrestling Club RTC listed.
The list doesn’t include HWC, Cyclone RTC, NLWC or Ohio RTC listed. However, if you go to the menu under memberships to find a club they are listed under USA Wrestling State Associations and Chartered Clubs.

I wonder what the difference is, and if different rules apply? Just curious.

Huh? Ramos actually won that match but regardless of that opinion, he didn't lose to a former teammate that got kicked off the team, did he? That was my point.

Yeah, I would definitely include him, too. I didn't think he was back this year since he hasn't wrestled at all, but I just looked and he's still on the roster at GoPSUSports.
