Recruiting

Ohio St. they could be starting Davino (Top 5), Bouzakis (Top 3), Mendez (Top 3), Paddy (Top 3), Sasso (Top 5), Rocco (Top 10), Feldman (Top 3)

Recruiting wise VT is on fire with the number of high level wrestlers they’re bringing in, and they have only crowned 2 national champs ever.
Ohio state has had good recruiting for years, just don’t do much with them usually. I don’t know what’s going on at VT, Bo said some general thing about a lot of exciting things going on there. Probably means they found a big donor like Taylor did , who will out bid anyone.

As far as tOSU goes, it pretty much proves my point. When it comes to straight recruiting, they have been often lauded and Iowa is essentially on par with them, while clearly surpassing them in the portal and, most importantly, production at NCAA’s…

As far as VTech goes, this is brand new and I actually want to see these guys officially in the room and then at NCAA Tournaments before I crown them an Apex recruiter…

There are rumblings about Jude Correa decommitting from UMich. I am not sure if he is a 197 or HWT in college but he will be an absolute hammer wherever he decides to go. He would fit in great in Iowa.

But, it’s a perpetual false narrative. This year’s lineup could have 5 top 5 lb4lb recruits in Ayala, Arnold, Kennedy, Ferrari and Kueter. Add in DeLuca next season and that is 6. Except PSU, because their recruiting is otherworldly and simply shouldn’t be compared to, what other schools are trotting out better?

If they keep bringing in 2-3 super high end transfers each year, like they have been recently, they are FAR ahead of everyone but PSU, when it comes to bringing in new talent…
I don't care about the lineup patches, that's writing checks more than recruiting and wouldn't be needed with such frequency if the recruiting was better. As for the recruits you mentioned it took 4 classes to get the 5 guys and either PK or Arnold will be a backup. 5 classes to get 6 guys with Deluca.

He seemed kind of excited about beating his future teammate at who's #1. Could have legs

I assume they expect him to cut to 197, or they wouldn’t have recruited the best heavyweight in that class also. These two didn’t Come cheap, I’m sure they planned on both in the line up. Jude looked like a big 215, and still has a baby face, so may have some growth and filling out yet to do. I think the 197 cut will be tough for him. Maybe he can hold it for a year or two, but those two are in the same class. We really need a stud 197 more than a heavy unless Ben decides to stick to football after going back to it next year.

There are only 20 ptop 5 recruits over a 4 year span. If 25% sucks, what exactly is good???

besides this list does anyone know who else Iowa will be inviting on the recruiting weekend at the end of the month?

Haakan Petersen 113
Jayden Raney 126
Jordan Raney 132
Jax Forrest 132
Owen McMullen
Bo Bassett 144
Dreshaun Ross 215
Landing Ross and the Raneys are a must. Bassett is just an icing on the cake. Forrest would be game over!

Liam Crook should be there. Willie has him ranked 18th at 165. Would imagine some Iowa hs kids will be there as well.

I think the Raneys are visiting a different weekend.

Don’t think Raney bros will be 10/25th weekend.

Haakon working a different weekend also. Family already had something scheduled that weekend.

Crook finished 4th at Fargo Cadet I believe and also won a Wisconsin state title. I dont think he is an Askren kid.

So the McCourt kids and Ross. Probably have the best shot at Ross if he wrestles and the least likely of that group is Forrest. I’m just surprised he’s even giving us a look. Hopefully not just to squeeze more money out of okst , like Locket did.

The Raneys are a must get! Yes we want Bassett and Forrest, but if you don't get at least Bassett then Iowa has to land Raneys and Ross.

did I miss the post of where Marcus Blaze is committed or is he still a free agent ????

He was visiting PSU last week
So he is taking second visits to some schools. If we aren’t on that second visit list, we know we’re eliminated. When he forgot he visited us in an interview with Flo earlier this year, it probably told our chances. Someone said he wants to stay close to home, and I think we were farther away than anyone on his list. If PSU lands him, their lightweight depth may finally surpass their upper weight depth. Forrest would be the next best recruit for us at that weight, Raney third best, and probably the only realistic one. If we miss on all three, 133-141 will be a hole for some time to come. I don’t see Block holding 141 for more than 1 season. At least we are trying for the big boys now. Landing Spencer let them know it’s worth the effort, even if we are underdogs. Hell Doug Schaub drove 15 hour to do home visit with Bo, and drove right back, even though he knows he’s a huge underdog. Don’t know if he’s afraid to fly, or just not in UNI budget.

Doug does whatever his wife tells him to do

I've asked this question before and never really got a answer from anyone.
Why does Iowa not have someone with ties to the program or a coach on the U15 and U17 world team staffs? This seems like a no brainer to me. If it is because we are unable to get a spot on the staff, then, OK. But, if its because we have never tried or cared to be on the staff that needs to change.
