Suriano to PSU

Probably safe to assume he does not care to redshirt. Will slide in at 125 next year after Megaludis and Conaway graduate. 133 will be new addition, Jared Cortez. PSU is loaded for years to come. Time for Iowa to make a move. Go Hawks!

We have one of those holes filled with Meija (you remember, the potential four timer from CA)...Unfortunately, he'll have to redshirt the year after Gilman and Clark leave. I'll hit the oh shit button if Lee doesn't come to Iowa. I was hoping to have some combination of Lee, Suriano and Meija. Either way, we're fine for right now. Good pick up for PSU.

Im sure TnT have a plan of a plan of a plan but damn I wish Suriano was on board. This class with Marinelli, Young and Hall and next year's class headlined by Lee will make me calm down. Please give Lee a FULL RIDE ASAP

Ouch. Not that I was counting on him, but it bugs me that Penn State strikes first; and it means that we'll have true freshmen starting at 125 and 133 following Gilman and Clark, even if we land Lee.

I honestly never saw him ending up here, best of luck though. IMO Lee has been a far more dominant wrestler while wrestling up in weight even. Suriano has had a few close matches the past 2 years including a couple 1-0 wins over Jack Mueller. Yates and Lee were the two I liked the best. A win for Brands here would be Lee, Mejia and Renteria with one stretching to 141. Lee 125 as a true fresh which would be no issue for him. Shirt one of the other two and feed him. I like the attitude of Mejia but i'd be shocked if Lee does not take him to the woodshed at who's #1, I think he does that to anyone. I think Happel ends up 149. Lee or Hall and Happel would be great, all 3 to go with what we have committed already would be perfection. We get neither Lee or hall and we are behind in the arms race IMO.

Neither of which will beat Lee or Mejia. IMO Iowa lost two backup 125 guys this weekend. I don't think suri will be all that offensive in d1. Hard to takedown and one heck of a rider but I project Mejia to be a bit more of a whirlwind and the style us fans want more.

As for cortez. Can't beat out Richards or beat Clark and wouldn't beat out gulibon if he wasn't moving up.

I guess I'm more concerned about getting Happel and a 174 stud (hall) and possibly another 184 (keegan moore)to push Wilcke for that starting spot.

Maybe he thinks the results Megaludis has had for Penn State is good enough for him.

Obviously having the best 57 kg wrestlers in the country wasn't a big enough draw for him.

Also I'm soooo tired of all these "inside info guys" on here saying we have big news coming. Certain cool events are not that big of news when it comes to Hawkeyes winning national titles. I'll go on the same record by saying within the next 6 months we will have someone commit. IMO comments from Captain Obvious are not inside info.

Was probably too much to have Mejia, Renteria, Lee and Suriano all at 2 weights. It did appear that this board had moved on from Suriano a while ago, with maybe a few "it would be great to have him, but it doesn't look likely" posts here or there. If Lee goes to PSU, major ouch.

If Lee goes anyway except Iowa many beers are in my future. Wait if Lee doesn't go to Iowa many beers are still in my future BUT let me drink in celebration TnT.

There was no way we were going to nor would it be wise to invest it Suriano and Lee to go with Renteria and Mejia even at 3 weights. I think the two committed guys are comparable to Suriano or at least will be when they are at the same place in their career, Lee is a whole different animal and a lot bigger guy to get than Suriano IMO.

First Cortez and now Suriano. This has to be a big kick in the balls to Iowa fans. It goes back and forth though. I've got a bad feeling in the pit in my stomach now over the Suriano decision in relation to Lee. No inside information or anything but just a feeling that Lee is a future Hawkeye.

I only say this out of paranoia I guess. Suriano was to commit a couple weeks ago by his own admission. Around that time Willie stated he felt Lee was going to verbal early...maybe even real soon. I'm wondering if these boys talk. Could Suriano have held off on his desicion until he got word from Lee of his intentions? Or maybe he was delayed by not knowing how much money PSU could offer until Cael got word from Lee on his intentions. Yeah, I know I'm reaching but usually when I get this aweful feeling with anything there's usually something to it. In fact, almost always. So guys, basically what I'm saying is the Suriano desicion might actually be a blessing in disguise for you guys.

Be happy with Suriano...if there is a difference between him and Lee, its just a sliver anyways...at least right now. And yea, it is a kick in the nuts because I wanted one of the two to complement Meija and JRent (who I think is going to end up at 141). Plus, Suriano would have came in right after Gilman.

Supposedly Suriano was supposed to commit at the end of July, but decides to commit 2 days after Spencer Lee wins his 2nd World Title. Something is strange here.

The biggest difference between Lee and Suriano to this point is Suriano is committed to Penn State and Lee is undecided. That in itself can be a concern for Hawk fans.

Hope my post didn't sound as if I'm disapponted. I love this get for PSU and if it means Lee goes elsewhere
then so be it. I just think his decision is based on other factors that could actually end up being a good thing for you guys.

Nah...I gotcha. Lee is the unicorn for PA high school fans...at least since Marstellar. It's a lot of talent in to fit into 9.9 though to have what looks like a High School All Star team at PSU.

Whomever our first big commit is, you can be sure Gobblin will claim that it was the good news he was talking about.

Why the hateful obsession? You've been obsessed with posters who happen to have access to the program for years now. Sometimes things look one way, even to insiders, and they turn out differently. Kids change their minds sometimes, in surprising fashion.

Posters like Gobblin bring a lot of useful information to this board. I don't understand why you're so consumed with hatred for posters like him. I think I speak for many Hawk fans when I say I hope bitter fans like yourself don't cause him and others to quit posting. If they bother you so much, just put them on your ignore list and move on. Dang.

Bad day of golf then come home and see this bad news.
I'm really concered about what is going on .
We need some studs and a other one gets away.
Myself, I have always thought Lee would go to Penn State being he is from there, dam I hope I'm wrong.
