Suriano to PSU

we needed suriano for the year when mejia and jrent red shirt, but that's 2 years away a lot can change in that time.really would like lee to come on out(he seems to have a little talent),I would still be be happy if we had the two j's.i like how they wrestle and they both talk about how much they want to be hawkeyes.it's not like the cubbard is bare. spence lee special talent he would make anyone's lineup a lot better, but mejia 125 renteria 133 turk141 Sorensen 149 Kemmerer 157 looks like a pretty good first half of team to me.

Why the hateful obsession? You've been obsessed with posters who happen to have access to the program for years now. Sometimes things look one way, even to insiders, and they turn out differently. Kids change their minds sometimes, in surprising fashion.

Posters like Gobblin bring a lot of useful information to this board. I don't understand why you're so consumed with hatred for posters like him. I think I speak for many Hawk fans when I say I hope bitter fans like yourself don't cause him and others to quit posting. If they bother you so much, just put them on your ignore list and move on. Dang.
amazing isn't it? People ask for inside dope, then others lash out at the few people who do actually have relationships and are still willing to share. Gobblin has never glory posted but has always shared what he could about what he is told. He's not one to simply make something up, but let's all get in line to crucify him. Hawknut and those that "liked" his post are perfect examples of why insiders have stopped posting what they hear.

I know you guys got a couple of commits early, like J. Rent and Meija, but for the most part, it seems as though TnT want the guys to be absolutely sure they want to be Hawks. From what I have read ( not seen or heard) TnT want kids to be sure of what they are getting into and be sure that are willing to do the work.

It seems like a very honest and classy approach to recruiting. They do not ever seem to try to fool a kid. I think that is why the Hawks do not get a lot of early commits. TnT want them to be sure. My guess is that other schools try to pressure guys into committing early to get the pressure off and be able to concentrate on their last season. TnT do not seem to be that way.

My hat is off to them for that. It drives a lot of posters crazy on this board, but TnT seems like 2 of the classiest recruiters in the business to me. (A total outsider looking in).

PS.. Lee is a total stud, but he may also go the route of a Cory Baze from Oklahoma back in the 90s I believe. A total stud in high school, but just too small in Div. 1. Just saying it is a possibility.

"but just too small in Div 1" Duck!!!!

"My freshman year I'll be at 125 and I'll be perfect for the lineup. I think I'll grow after that, too ... I don't think I'll be a '25-poounder all four years ... because I'm not done growing." Nick Suriano

Jered Cortez... I'll start at 133 then likely 141 after J.Gulibon graduates.

Looks like PSU will need career 125 for 2017..Cael better look for someone who could fill that role. Hopefully we will find someone local!

So Iowa had a guy they were interested in that went somewhere else? I'll be damned. ;)

Given that he's a high school junior and able to punch his ticket wherever he wants to go, what is the incentive for Lee to commit early? Don't get me wrong. I'd be ecstatic if he pulled a Marinelli and announced tomorrow for Iowa. But if you are Lee's dad and trying to guide him through the process, what's the rush? We can be here in August 2016 still trying to figure out which way Lee is leaning.

I like you Sloehawk.. Who knows where Lee ends up.. He will do what is best for him and his family. Love the duals between Iowa and PSU..this 50YO lives to get his competitive juices going even if if is vicariously through 20YOs

Hmm...Red Ass...Does this mean Chad Red is coming to Iowa? Hehe

In fairness to Goblin the recruiting picture is very fluid. Both the coaches and wrestlers are forced into a high stakes poker game.

This year the focus was on the lightweights with Suriano, Redd and Pletcher in the spotlight. Unpredictably things became more complicated with Micic and Cortez transferring and Karem de commiting from bucknell.

Those close to Pletcher reported he was interested in psu. I'm sure Cael recruited Pletcher hard but wasn't willing to put enough chips on the table and Ohio State took the opportunity to lock him up. (On another board pletchers uncle said he thought he was going to psu until the week before he decided to be a buckeye)

Add Micic, Cortez and Karam to the mix and the game changed from Texas hold-em to 8s,9s,10,s and jacks are wild. Going into this year it was clear that Cael had the greatest need for lightweights and plenty of chips available to throw into the pot.

Last year the hot weight was 145 with Joseph, Kemerer, stroker and Thompson in the mix. At least one of those guys was set on a particular school and communicated that to his close friends and was ready to formally announce. Within 24 hours all that changed with a last minute visit from a coach from another school.

My guess is goblin and others are close to the program and have a pretty good feel for who the coaches are prioritizing.
Unfortunately most of these kids (emphasis on kids) are always excited and interested when visiting or talking to the coach.

Each board has their own goblins. Often reporting the same information but from another programs perspective.

Bottom line the deal isn't done until they sign in November.

It's unclear what this means to lees thinking. He will wait and take his time to decide. He is in the driver seat and has the leverage

Hey, not too many sour grapes! Only one post that jumped out at me on my first read through as being "meh, he want really that good and I never wanted him anyway".

This is a blow, for sure. I had heard last year he was a lock for Iowa. We need Lee. Obviously the tough part there is that his home state has a decent program that we're in direct competition with. Hope he dies the right thing!

A new troll, how cute.

Thanks (we're about the same age I reckon...). I'm just too old to get too worked up about recruiting. You win some, you lose some. And sometimes even when you think you won, eventually the end results say otherwise. So what's to worry about? We'll get our share, and I'll hope for the best for those that actually do make it to Iowa City.

I don't see anybody saying that they wouldn't have been happy with a Suriano to Iowa. It is big but not fatal because we have two good ones coming in...but yea, we need Lee.

Needanap...I wasn't messing w/Gobblin...just having fun with the red ass comment. Nobody really owes this board anything. I think Red goes to Nebraska anyways.

On recruiting, I spoke to a recruits Dad who was sure he was going to one school and he changed his mind and totally surprised his own Father. So yea, it's not an exact science.

I think Lee will go to the school that will help him prepare to win an Olympic gold medal. I believe that will be the Hawkeyes.

We lost Black to Illinois, so it doesn't seem fair that Red would go to Nebraska......................

Well I figured since Green is at Nebraska

Well I figure since they already have a Green there at Nebby, why not a Red. Cornell could also be a good fit.

Edit: Yes, all of us picking where recruits are going to go might as well be chicks picking teams to win because of their mascot name for all the good it does. Still fun tho.

50 YEARS OLD definitely gives you perspective. I love my school. I have no experience in wrestling but always admired there discipline... Graduated in PSU in 1986 and followed Jimmy Martin's career. Cael re-energized PSU wrestling. Iowa wrestling and fans are the standard by others are measured! I love the competitiveness b/t Iowa/PSU/OSU/OKS. Whatever improves exposure and buy is great by me. My the odds ever be in your favor....

He has been a real ass to me and acts like a baby. Believe me, even with that, I wouldn't call him out if he really did provide useful information. I haven't seen anything that he has provided at all that was real or true or that anyone else couldn't have predicted. "Good news coming". Nothing more specific. Please. Exactly like baseballa33. That is a joke. I'm glad he owned up. I'll lay off until he's a dick to me again, or acts like an ass. Sorry for offending.

Gobblin has always brought good info to the board. Everyone knows that (or should know that), and the post calling him out seemed in jest because it was too ludicrous to take seriously. If it was serious I apologize for "liking" it. Losing Suriano is a bummer but not the end of the world and certainly not enough to do any finger pointing, especially at the folks here who are sharing honest insights and info.

What about Paul Glynn incoming at 133? Could he replace Clark after being in the room for a few years?

You don't need to apologize for liking my posts. We don't need people trying to control who likes a post or not. That's way over the top. I've moved on, so let's all move on.

So then where does White go?

Gobblin has given more real info than anyone else on here. To say he has not is nuts.

Paul Glynn is not a viable option for our future 133 IMO. Not saying he can't make 133, not even close to Clark's talent.

If your not 100% positive that good news is in the way then don't say anything

I think people on this board have a right to be pissed at some one says good news is coming and then nothing happens. Unless your 100% positive then don't say anything. We are getting out recruited by Penn State big time and if we want to Win titles we need to step up recruiting. M* got hired partially because he was suppose to be a good at recruiting, yet the big names cont to go elsewhere. if we don't get Lee or Hall then TnT need to think about re evaluating their help.

Just be patient. I feel like I'm in a time warp back to last summer when the sky was falling at that time as well.

I think it could be argued we've got several "big names" already verbally committed. I presume they'll have company at some point in time.

Morningstar is the only reason we have Marinelli coming. Marinelli is a bonagide stud and probably our best recruit since Evans/Metcalf. I'm not comparing Evans to Metcalf production wise, but pedigree coming out of high school. Metcalf was 2-3 overall, Evans was 4.

Totally agree but also think WisHawk is trolling like crazy! M* is getting it done! Kemerer, Marnelli, Young, Rentria, Mejia, Turk, etc etc etc.

We're going to be just fine! Also Hall and Lee haven't committed and I'm hoping for at least one of them! Thank you M* for a fantastic job!
