Teasdale now back?

Okay Penn Staters, what’s the defense for Andrew Long?

No defense for Long's actions. He was given a chance, and it didn't work out. And it was regrettable.

And it is an event completely independent of that involving Teasdale or any other NCAA wrestler. Surely, you're not suggesting Cael should punish Teasdale on the basis of the outcome with Long?

What would TnT do?

What about a defense for Carl putting him in the lineup the semester (same year) after he was booted from ISU after multiple infractions?

You see the thread? Got em going again. They're half nuts

From an article:

“Yes,” Sanderson said, his voice rising when asked if Teasdale could wrestle at the Jan. 1-2 Southern Scuffle. “I think he could get back on our team maybe Saturday, once finals are over and it’s a new semester.”

Teasdale was seen rolling around with Brady Berge during Nittany Lion Wrestling Club practice on Tuesday afternoon in the Lorenzo Wrestling Complex.

Because Teasdale withdrew from school, Sanderson said there is a possibility he could get a waiver for that semester and still have a full redshirt available. He said they are working on getting that waiver."

Damn if Cael pulls this off then he's a genius and found a way for guys to compete even when not taking classes.

Glad to know that our 30 year old, 1st year head coach and 27 year old academic advisor at Binghamton are on a par with the genius Cael Sanderson so early in their careers. They were able to successfully figure out how to get the exact same medical exemption for my guy this semester with a documented health problem that caused him to miss 4 weeks of classes. With the Bearcats being able to circumvent the NCAA so easily the Hawkeyes better look out behind them. I guess with so many other coaches not being able to figure out "loopholes" in the NCAA rulebook we are on the path to being #2!

Good luck to Teasdale. Hope his health is truly where it needs to be. With that said, I’d love to be a fly on the wall in Howard’s household. My UNeducated guess was he thought he’d be penciled in at 33.

25 Teske
33 Teasdale
41 RYB

That line up is for years to come as well but I’m sure one of our PSU friends know how the line up could work out. Oh well, best of luck and Go Hawks.

PS I love that we have Cashman and Ybarra.
I appreciate any kid that joins the Iowa program, but unless Schriever outgrows 125...I'm not seeing where Cashman fits in going forward. I know it's a ways off.

Was the health problem drug/alcohol related?

Good for them if they're bending or even breaking the rules to do what he feels is best for the kid. Im sure their thought is he is better off in college on the wrestling team, than off doing whatever he wants.
I don't fault anyone who thinks they should be doing it the best"right way", or who do what they believe is the "right way"could. But I also don't fault anyone who tries to help someone else live their best life, no matter how many times they screw up. Maybe he chose a better staff for himself if they do things a way Tom does not.
I wish the best for the kid. Hopefully Penn State is doing what is best for him not for themselves. I hope he' a four time finalist for Penn St, but I hope he loses to a Hawk every single time. Only because he's a traitor!! Lol. Otherwise I'd just wish him 4 years of underachieving (in wrestling) at Penn State (I don't really want him scoring 2nd place points).

It says "He announced he was leaving for Health reasons on Nov, 20. In less then 3 weeks it is announced that he is back Wrestling with the club???

Then Keal says he could get a waiver??? What am I not understanding here?

I know what you’re saying ... almost seems like Penn State and Cael must be ‘cheating’ ... someone should look into this topic and get a’discussion’ started

I would say there’s only about 2 options.
1. His his health issue wasn’t that bad if it only took 3 weeks to get over.
2. He still has the health issue and in which case Cael just doesn’t care about it.

always looking at things in a positively negative way ... good job

No, it was injury suffered in practice. I'll be happy to share the details with you via email including the whole process, but I don't really want to share health info publicly.

But bottom line, in order to receive a medical exemption you need to have a documented health issue treated by a physician(s), and the train is driven by the doctors and the academic advisors. I know you are referring to rumors about Teasdale - I can't comment on them, nor can anyone have any real knowledge outside a certain circle - but he will only receive a medical exemption from the university AND the NCAA with a documented health issue. Not close to being the case of Cael merely waving a magic wand here. Most I will comment is that you don't get a medical exemption from the NCAA by partying too much and flunking out.

Not sure where Cael really even comes into play here. He certainly doesn't need Gavin to compete this year for PSU, nor does it seem likely he will with his comments. The extra year was a path made available to Gavin (and his parents - being involved in the decisions) as soon as he went under physician care (an assumption based on him receiving a medical exemption from the NCAA). They'd probably be very foolish not to pursue it.

I thought I heard he was flunking and if he dropped out than none of these classes counted and just start all over the second semester?? Pretty smart on Cael's part. Great coaching.....

Typically they don’t verify his eligibility until the end of the school year because he is a frosh and did not earn any credits yet this semester, so at this point he can in fact withdrawal from classes and reregister without impacting his eligibility. He also may have brought in credits from HS and his eligibility could be covered in that way so as not to effect his eligibility.
Depending on the nature of the students issue The university can allow for him to continue to matriculate and re-enroll in the spring.

For real? If athletes could do this, nobody would ever be academically ineligible. C’mon, son.

You need 24 credits after your first year to compete in year 2.He could still do that with 2nd semester and summer school.

Just so we’re strait, you’re saying the reason he left school was purely a medical/injury reason and had absolutely nothing to do with social issues/drug abuse?

I just want be clear that this is the stance your taking...

I think he was referring to his own situation, not Teasdale’s. As he stated, nobody knows for sure, outside of his circle of family/friends.
But... why, exactly, does it matter?

No, you're mixing up what he said. He knows someone at Binghamton that was injured and went this route. He was saying the path forward is the same, not that their circumstances were the same.

Does anyone on here actually know what a waiver is or what his exemption means? Does he just get more time to pass his classes? Are his grades suspended or his classes erased? Is it like he did not take any classes? Did he lose his scholarship? Do we know any of this? I am confused as to what actually happened and what it means in everyday life. Will he have to take all his classes again or just get an extension to finish the classes? The kids have to pass 12 hours minimum/semester or 24/year to be eligible for the next year. Did his year start last fall or does it mean his year starts this January? What does it all mean?

I'm just going to say there is no way he should get an extra year for being gone for less than a month. Lets get real here. He might be their starter the rest of the year. He is still in RS now. Of course if he comes out of RS he would still have it to use but some kind of bonus year would be nuts.
