Teasdale now back?

The last thing I heard is that he is staying at PSU. That was only 4 or 5 days ago that I was told this.

I sat directly behind Teasdale last night at the Indiana meet. Not sure who else was sitting with him, but Terry Brands came over to speak with them during the action. Somebody else I didn't recognize came out of the stands to speak with him and said "we'd love to have you wrestling here".

Well now we do indeed have confirmation that he was in IOWA. We also have a poster above saying he heard Teasdale was staying at F*** St.

Not sure which would be crazier, but I would lean toward him stay in happy land over becoming a HAWK!

Not sure what if anything as far as $$$ we could offer the kid. As some have already pointed out, we have a pretty good stock of Wrestlers at his likely weight classes.

Some things you do have to consider though. Spencer Lee still has a redshirt and could take an Olympic year. We do not know for sure if Teasdale could make 125, but maybe it is a possibility.

133-DeSanto still has a redshirt, We are still waiting and hoping everything is going right for Renteri, but I get worried not seeing him taking the mat at all!

141-While I like Murin, and the quality backups we currently have, it still is a weight currently that is not where it needs to be as far as winning Championships.

149-Lugo has 1 more year after this

Add in a few others both currently on the roster and coming in, and it still leads me to believe giving this kid a shot isn't a bad idea if the price is right.

Again it is my understand that as far as eligibility, he would be coming in like a true Freshman. That would also give him a redshirt year and the HAWKS some great flexibility!

He read this thread and had to come out and try some of your pizza. If it's as good as advertised you might have a new 49-57 guy.

Why would he have a redshirt? What starts the 5 year clock, enrolling in school or actually competing a semester in school?

According to karl. Teasdale withdrew from classes and it was like he was never there as far as eligibility.

How great would it be seeing him kicking F*** St Wrestlers arses as IOWA ROLLS out several more Championships.

Pretty sure some of these Happy Trolls would have a complete melt down!!!

I don't think anyone who kept this thread going hates GT or doesn't think kids deserve a 2nd or 3rd chance.

IMO most of us realized Cael's second chances and the timing seemed morally messed up. Just like Andrew Longs case. There is a difference between letting a kid be on the team for structure like Jrent and earn his way back in time versus, holy crap I need a 125 pounder for the scuffle in 2 weeks.
If Brands views the kid is worth it and has a long term plan then I believe most of us are all for it. But I personally want to see GT jump through some hoops before being given the privilege to start again. I don't see any scenario where Brands would just defy logic to start him. Even with Marion and PD3 coach used extreme caution and used a slow approach.

And for the Pd3 folks who say look at that. You know what, listen to the recent PD3 interview on FLO. He was eligible to go but Brands said you aint living the right lifestyle even though you are eligible and I know it. Goodbye. Cael would have never done that unless he had his guy Taylor at that weight and could deem a Bubba expendable.

Cael lives in your head rent free.

Still predicting 150+ and a championship, genius?

Oliver, thats a good name. This has been discussed before and is a typical tactic used by those with no way to win an argument on merit!

You twist others words or statements around instead of using your own. I'll repeat that as a Wrestler/Coach/fan of the sport/ and fan of IOWA. When looking forward to this season. I posted what I felt was best case for each weight.

In other words, what my high expectations would be if I was on the team, Coaching the team etc...

I have no doubt that the HAWKS and all great teams and Wrestlers would approach the season the same way. Looking to reach high goals.

Going over it again
125-LEE, battling something but I still have him on top scoring a lot of points
133-DeSantos, exceeding my expectations!
141-Murin is somewhat lower than I hoped for, but the season has a ways to go.
149- Lugo has been about where I would expect him, but needs to get that big win and take another step.
157-Young, This weight was unexpected. Had KemDawg here. that being said, Young is exceeding my expectations that I had for him at 174
165- I had BULL winning it and still do!
174- With the previously mention KemDawg going down, that was a huge hit. I had him scoring 20 points and believe he would have. He will be back next year and if his injuries are all healed up as expected. I will take him to win it! Several have filled in and have proven to be game!!! Bowman appears to be the man and we all know we will get 100% out of him every time!!!
184- Cash is exceeding my expectations!
197-Warner is doing well, but honestly I was expecting even more. It was a lot for me to ask of a redshirt Freshman, but I believe he is that good!
Heavy- Stoll, our second big injury. Had him at #1 based on the way he ended the season. Had a freak accident. Still battling and believe he will still do well.

So pretty happy with what I had said all that time ago! AGAIN it is not me saying that all the stars will line up and everything will go perfectly!!!

It is a L O N G season and a lot can happen. This season has once again proven this for us. Any team taking the hits these HAWKS have and still doing as well as they are should be mighty damn proud!!!

OH, please post something that YOU said about the season so we can compare. I'll wait!

That was first semester. Did he not re-enroll for the 2nd semester? He is currently still listed in the PSU student directory.

I’m going to the Original to post an actual Teasdale comment.

As a Hawkeye fan I was not happy when he decommited but understood thoroughly these are very hard choices for a athlete and their families.
We know not all athletes have the greatest mindset leaving HS I know I did not and that was the main reason I fell very short of many of my goals.
Gavin still has the chance to right the ship he needs to want it, he needs the correct environment. Iowa has proven to be a program that if the hard work is put in you will have all the support needed to overcome challenges. This is a tremendous accomplishment this day in age by the Staff and university.

He is visiting with some great coaching staffs hopefully he lands at place that he is comfortable with the family is confident with and that keep him on the correct path to success in and out of the Room. I wish him luck.

DeSanto obviously has anger & maturity issues yet Brands immediately put him out there, why, because Iowa would have a gapping hole at 133 otherwise.

Marion sat out the same amount of time as Long, but "coach used extreme caution and used a slow approach" yet in regard to Long "Cael's second chances and the timing seemed morally messed up" LOL, you can't make this stuff up!!

It's funny watching you guys that roasted Cael about Teasdale squirm now.

So much miss information here -

1. DeSanto"s issues aren't maturity and anger. You should know that.
2. The Marion decisions were not made by the coaches.
3. You want to compare apples to apples, than contrast Marion's case to Ed Ruth situation. Didn't old Tough Love Cael sit Ed for some second rate tournament over Thanksgiving? Andrew Long was on another planet and what Cael did there was indefensible.

CORRECT pablow!

Ed Ruth robbed a Taco Bell or drove his car into a Taco Bell while drunk and received basically nothing.

They also miss the fact that a future National Champion left the team due in part to punishments that were handed down.

It is laughable that they would compare the two schools and coaching staffs!

As far as this is concerned. It was said he left school, but that is just message board info. I do not know why they would have removed him from the F*** St. Wrestling roster though if it was not true.

That would really be bad if they removed him from the team(which i have no idea why they would and do not believe they would) if he was still enrolled in school.

It would also seem to be a bad idea for him unless maybe he is going part time to just get some of the lost school time back. I believe his stock remains higher if he is indeed coming into a program like a true Freshman eligibility wise.

Wait you’re just trolling correct? Carl sat Long the same amount of time that Tom sat Montell? Talk about making stuff up - please explain this one to me.

The point about him possibly still being enrolled was more of an interesting side note.

But the bigger point was that whether or not he’s still enrolled, that I assume he would have had to at least re-enroll at some point for the second semester, thus likely starting his eligibility clock if they were able to wipe it clean from the first semester.

Gross, - 133. Left IOWA

Yea and Ryan stuck around and was starting in Iowa's first dual two months after pleading guilty to burglary. So what's your point?

You're kidding yourself if you don't think DeSanto issues should of resulted in a redshirt this year after what he did and how he left his previous team. His inability to control himself this season certainly proves this.

They both sat out one semester although Long had to transfer to a different school and move 800 miles East to get his opportunity. Certainly more of a penalty then what Marion had to do.

Just in the past year Iowa tried to bring PDIII in, brought in and immediately inserted into the lineup a guy with anger issues that tried to break another wrestlers arm and then had one wrestler shoot another and then had a cover up with police. Again, you had one wrestler SHOOT another and he is still on the team competing for a spot. You would think that in itself would be enough for you and your fellow Iowa fans to realize you do not have the higher ground when discussing coaching holding their athletes accountable or doing what's in their best interests..... and if that's not enough, we can go out further then the past year and talk about the numerous arrests with no suspensions for burglary, DUIs, public drunkenness, poaching and various firearm charges.

Feel free to go back and list the transgressions and lack of penalties. Not sure psu wants to get into history lessons on transgressions. Unless you want to keep it to a very narrow window psu will not fare well.

Yeah, can we call a truce on the old-history mud-slinging? Most programs have their fair share of individuals behaving badly.

133 is DeSanto, unless ADS WANTS to go 141, imo. He deserves to be the one making the choice. If Renteria is capable, Iowa should be set. I'm just not seeing a need for GT unless it's a way to keep a competitor from being competitive at that weight.

Oh boy you’ve teed this one up. Long sitting at Iowa state counts for Carl / Penn State? Wow good stuff. How about Carl being told the plan for long to get back in the lineup by Iowa State’s coaching staff when he called them and then within a week long is transferring to penn state.

Exactly how long did Long sit at Penn State? Great ethics.

Thought Austin said he’d want to go 41 before this season. Glad he’s at 33 though! Iron sharpens iron and I’m in full support in giving a teenager a second chance. He didn’t do anything terrible wrong other than hurt the feelings of HR folks like myself;)

Lee might take an Olympic redshirt.

Maybe Teasdale would come to wrestle 125 and move up the year after.

UH, Lugo has another year. We have Young AND Brands at 157. Are you forgetting about KemDAWG for 174???
Right, so we need one on board and on red shirt next year at 49.
Brands at 57, you positive about that? I guess we'll see but I'm not convinced that's where he'll be or be most effective.
Kems a RS jr coming off 2 major injuries. You feel more comfortable with 125 and 133 or 157 and 174 over the next 2-3 years?
