That was a helleva come back and fight by this team

12 on missed dunks and I won't even go down the missed layup route plus missed fts and careless turnovers this team hasn't committed all season. Veryserious.org

Wow. The fact you can watch a game in which 3 dunks were missed and then say there were twice as many is quite telling given your other proclivities, shall we say. Or stupid ass obsessions, if you prefer.

I know Fran gives green light but Payton took some far away quick shots

Does Fran have a game plan on offense for each opponent or is it just shoot when you are open?

c’mon, I get that Fran deserves criticism for his defensive philosophy, but we have had too 15 scoring offenses the last several years now. Pretty sure he knows what he’s doing on offense. Tonight we simply missed a lot of makeables and had uncharacteristic turnovers that resulted in easy points for Michigan. If you’d have told me this morning we’d battle Michigan to a near-draw on the boards given their size advantage I’d have said we win.

Idk about the exact number of dunks missed, but I saw we were 12/24 in layups and/or dunks missed overall. Add in 4/18 from 3 and 13/20 from the line, plus the turnovers and it’s not hard to see why we lost.

Only comment I’ll make about the last shot by Bohannon where he expected a whistle…Keegan got called for much less at Rutgers a few weeks ago.

Michigan scored 84 points and shot 4-20 from three. Defense is far more than an Achilles heel for fran it’s a full blown herpes infection; it’s gross, embarrassing, and it never leaves.

Yep. He needs more Fredrick and less Ash when hes looking at a shot

Meh. Where was that fight before the last few minutes?

Play uninspired basketball most of the game, then a late furious rally that falls short. Too little too late. If I had a dollar for every time I've seen an Iowa team do this...
And this is why it's a tough watch sometimes.

I followed the game on my phone for a while. When they got behind by 10 I told my wife that hawks are down 10 and are beat. I said they will make it close at the finish but will fall short. I checked the score before I went to bed, saw it got close, yawned and went to bed. Years ago I would have had trouble sleeping. Not anymore.

Total team failure last night. You can’t play so poorly when you’re fighting for your tournament life. Iowa is going to have to win one of OSU/IllinoisMichigan and go undefeated at home. That’s a tall task for an inconsistent, middle of the road, B1G team

Virginia, Utah St, and Indiana are basically the same win when Home, Away, and Neutral are taken into consideration. Virginia could possibly move to a Q1 but would likely have to finish 4-0 and have some success in the ACCT.

Exactly..No sense of urgency 90 percent of the game.
We lack toughness, grit, something was missing last night, body language/ non verbals were bad….

Missed free throws
Sometimes physical mistakes happen. Free throws are missed. Dunks get missed (not often, but they do). The larger issue was the overall carelessness and lack of effort on defense. Michigan scored on 15 of its first 20 possessions in the second half. That is beyond terrible. I know we'll get all sorts of reasons and excuses why that is, it comes down to the face that this team is not good at attention to details. It doesn't matter when you are playing Maryland and Nebraska and everything is going in from 3-point land and those 2 opponents play with the discipline of a teenager at his first party. It does matter when you play a real opponent that is locked in to try and beat you.

Cool, the team fought and tried at the end. That is encouraging, you want to see fight. What would be even more helpful is paying attention to detail in practice and doing things the right way. Sit down in your damn stance on defense and at least make an effort to try and contain the guy with the ball. When you double-team Dickinson in the post. make sure the guy we leave open is who was talked about in the scouting report and not just randomly leaving guys.

Should be up a lot with everything we left out there today. I think this pays massive dividends rest of season no matter how this finishes!
Uh, sure, but where was that effort the first 38 minutes? Iowa played like it was bored. They looked like a bunch of guys who'd been dragged to grandma's house and forced to listen to her stories for the umpteenth time when they could have been playing video games.

There are lots of ways to lose, and many of them will leave you with your pride in tact because you gave it everything you had. Last night was the opposite. Hell, if the Iowa players don't give a damn, why should anyone else? My advice: Stay home. Do NOT waste your time and money going to see a bunch of guys go through the motions. At least watching on TV you can turn it off early and do something productive, like do the dishes or take out the garbage.

That was an embarrassing performance last night, and there's no other way to say it.

Iowa came into the game a six-point favorite with the NCAA tournament looming. And THAT'S the effort we get? LOL

Huge nail in the coffin for Iowa to get a invite into the tournament! They need at least 2 more wins.
