The CC Show....

None of those are relevant, though, to a team coach. You seem to have not understood this point for over a dozen pages now.
One ill-informed coach shouldn’t over-rule common sense economics along with popularity / talent, etc.

If that WAS the only choice.

I've posted elsewhere in the thread that there were OTHER WNBA players more deserving who had better stats.

If you read thru the thread, you'd have seen those posts.
So as long as Joe/Angel changes what they post later in the thread it works..........clank...that was the sound of Joe/Angel throwing a laser off the rim....again....

"I agree w/ DS, and I'd stated as such when the decision was made if you want to go search my posts.
CC was not playing at an elite level in the early season WNBA games. Go check the stat lines for yourself if you need a reminder."

"Personally, I'd have taken CC as a rising star over the fading star; but it wasn't my decision to make, and the numbers don't clearly support her displacing anyone."

Odd, nowhere in the quotes of what you posted do you come close to saying anything resembling 'If that was the only choice'

Good work Joe/Angel. Still just throwing crap out there. Do you agree with Coach Staley or if there were no other players in the country eligible you would have chosen her. Got it......are you really expecting people to believe this?

Doubtful. She communicates w/ the selection committee. As do all Olympic coaches.
It was a pretty clear statement. Both my post and the Selection Committee Chair where it said 'coach doesn't pick the players'

"She communicates w/ the selection committee" brilliant take Angel/Joe. Going to dazzle us with a Joe/Angel post of 'I stated several posts ago that the team that scores the most points will win the game'?

To help you out, water is wet, the sun is hot, beer is popular in Wisconsin......clank, clank.....never mind just Angel/Joe posting again.

It's a misleading statement. The coach absolutely has input AND oversight over that committee.
Go read Reeve's quotes on this. They are illuminating. Particularly referring to never having "been in the trenches" w/ Clark.

"Who determines the U.S. women's national team?

The women’s basketball committee selects the roster.

This includes South Carolina coach and former U.S. coach Dawn Staley, LSU assistant Seimone Augustus, Old Dominion coach Delisha Milton-Jones, Connecticut Sun president Jennifer Rizzotti and WNBA head of league operations Bethany Donaphin."

I know that your comprehension has suffered recently. But no matter how I read this I don't see the coaches name on this committee. You can wish it all you want but that doesn't make it so.

"Selection: The USA Basketball Women's National Team Player Selection Committee reviews the players' performances. Final Decision: The women's basketball committee makes the final decision on the roster, which is then subject to approval by the USA Basketball Board of Directors.Jul 20, 2024"

Angel/Joe this is what is called supporting your position. Angel/Joe it would have been easy to do the 'go look it up'(that's what posters like Angel/Joe do when they can't provide facts) but instead I went to the experts(Not Angel/Joe) to support
"Coach doesn't pick the players"

Another airball from Angel/Joe. Can you try to hit the rim at least? The fun fades when it is so easy.

Who do you think provides the selection committee their criteria & priority for selections?

A: The coach (for many, not all)
Angel/Joe.......... the statement was 'Coach doesn't pick the players'
If you want to start another topic about what is the criteria, how is the criteria established feel free. Until then keep shooting airballs Angel/Joe

still no mention of the coach.......clang...clang...... I keep looking for it Angel/Joe but I can't find it....

Pretty obvious Dawn Staleys pathetic public grudge is what kept Clark off the team. It doesn’t get any more obvious than that.
Think it had anything to do with her not winning the Dawn Staley award for the 4th time this year? Angel/Joe will be along to say that he didn't think she should win either and then later to say he thought she should win. It's his approach in this thread.

still no mention of the coach
"It would be irresponsible for us to talk about her in a way other than how she would impact the play of the team," Rizzotti told the AP. "Because it wasn't the purview of our committee to decide how many people would watch or how many people would root for the U.S. It was our purview to create the best team we could for Cheryl."

Cheryl Reeve dictated the selection criteria HER committee used for HER players.

the statement was 'Coach doesn't pick the players'
The coach absolutely has the last say in the selection process.
And the coach made a statement that you seem oblivious to.

What's comical here is how many of your buddies (and you) have made statements about "popularity" and "viewership". And the selection committee explicitly stated that NONE of those were considerations for the team. ZERO.

“I’ve never been in the trenches with her.” Not even at a USA Basketball camp

That pretty much is the "tell"
Reeve was not interested in adding a player who had zero experience at the Olympic level and had zero experience with her

And the COACH is who communicates WITH the committee on the selection process, Cletus.
Just an FYI How did you know my name was Cletus? Have you been doing research? You may want to use that time more wisely Angel/Joe.

Unfortunately for Angel/Joe communicate does not equal select. Perhaps you should leave this subject alone. You really don't have any grounds. Do you want me to find the email address for the Selection Committee Chair? I am sure she would love to hear from you on how she doesn't understand that process and that Angel/Joe will correct her on the process. Make sure that you emphasize the part about how she was wrong when she made her statement about how the team is selected.

Let's see if bold helps you. Nowhere in that post does it say that the coach selected the players.
The selection committee chair said it was their(the committee for slow Joe/Angel) to PICK the team FOR Cheryl.

Do you know who Rob Deer is? You are creating similar breezes with your swings and misses.....clang...clang, off the back board slow Joe/Angel.

Surprisingly USA Basketball disagrees with Slow Joe/Angel

Is it as comical as you(Slow Joe/Angel) now wanting to divert away from the subject at hand?

I think so. And what would it matter what the selection committee thinks? they don't have the choice.........according to Slow Joe/Angel........another brick off the backboard........you should go look up the mission statement again.....it was posted several pages ago, the posters told you about it.......

Pesky facts getting in the way of your misguided, ill informed, inaccurate opinion.

Please contact the Committee Chair to air your grievance. Make sure to share the Staley's right she shouldn't make it but I would pick her comment. Getting caught flip flopping like that is very unlike slow Joe/Angel. Not your best work.

Omg make it end

Now if it’s vaccines and BPA’s then I bow out. Joe/Angel can make it all end.

Yes; it absolutely was.

The committee deferred to her; the committee did not "choose their own" criteria.
That was stated outright - the committee chair stated it outright - they could only decide based on the criteria provided TO them.

And yet, here you are, claiming the actual coaching staff AND coach had no influence or say in any of those criteria. They absolutely did.

In the posts I've provided to you, the Committee outright states THEY did not have any control over the criteria provided to THEM.

Who do you think came up with those criteria for selections? Bugs Bunny?

Subject to, the criteria put forth to them. Claiming the coach and coaches have no say in this is simply not the case, and has never been the case for any Olympics team following this process.

I don't have the "grievance" here.

You do, and your buddies do, who think CC should have been selected.
I've told you the criteria the committee DID NOT use and COULD NOT use, because they were not ASKED to use it.

Joe - There is a fancy "Quote +" button
And someone used it to claim that I have the "grievance" with the committee.

You appear to be missing that key point here - I am not the one with the "grievance" here.

I can see you are still confused on this point.
Go re-read all the posters whining at me about Clark being left off the team; then go re-read the selection criteria (some of which were put to the Committee BY the coaches).

Clark should have had a double-double with about 15 assists yesterday but her rock-handed teammates kept it at 9.

Quite frustrating.

Has Nalyssa Smith EVER caught a ball cleanly in the post? And why can't she make a basic layup? 😖
They’re getting better, though. Clark has had a lot of highlight reel assists lately. One of my favorites was the full-court pass to Kelsey Mitchell in the Phoenix game the other night. Brittney Griner was just casually jogging down the court on defense and the ball went screaming past her head into Mitchell’s hands for an easy layup before Griner even realized what was happening. Griner just stopped, turned around, and started casually jogging back to the other end of the court.

I like the minutes Dantas gave last night. She is a load
