The CC Show....

Good stuff. And just think what those numbers would be if early in the season they could hang onto the passes? Or for that matter, not miss layups?
Definitely. Nice to see her teammates catching up to her. The Olympic snub is a Wilson-turned ankle away from being a legitimate MVP candidate

If she catches fire from 3 at the right time and start draining lots of logo 3s in high profile games who knows what might happen...

Clark is getting progressively better and her teammates around her are getting progressively better. It’s been a lot of fun to watch the way Clark and Mitchell are dictating the pace of play since the Olympic break. Clark and the Fever are making Geno Auriemma look like the arrogant asshole that he is.

Pepsi, but delicious. Would drink again.

She most likely will. Anyone with eyes knew she was a top 10 player in the league the second she stepped foot in the W.. and anyone who didn't see that is looking INCREDIBLY stupid these days. The pace at which she has become a top MVP candidate is crazy. Guessing she'll be a favorite to win it the MVP next year.

Current odds have her runner up, or tied with Sabrina for runner up. By the end of the season she will be runner up. Not too shabby.

She has improved her play, dramatically.
IIRC, one of her first plays in the WNBA was getting the ball stolen away from her

Her Assist/TO ratio has also improved, and lots of those early TOs were not the fault of her teammates.

That is not how she played in the early games.
At all.

In fact, in a few games, she was held to minimal points and assists.

Getting the ball stolen in your first game against one of the best teams with one of the best defending guards (and probably on a double team) in the league, with no practice, and no game experience with your teammates?

So, now you agree that her early play in the league wasn't all that spectacular.
Almost like "the best team in the league" had higher performing players at the time...

The WNBA gave the Fever one of the toughest schedules to open the season. Which made no sense.
But, Clark pretty quickly figured things out, and she is the reason the Fever are likely to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

Clark is a different player — and a much better player — now than she was back in May as she jumped to the WNBA almost directly from a long season at Iowa. Some of that is getting adjusted to the pro game. Some of that is figuring out how to play with her teammates — and her teammates figuring out how to play with her.
Weird. This guy sees things the same way I do.

She is definitely different and better. From the best college player ever and a top 10 WNBA player when she got here, to a top 2-3 MVP candidate already. Impressive growth!

She most certainly did not start out as a "top 10 WNBA player".
And you have no stats which support that.

So, she was playing against players (and teams) better than her....

I guess that 'splains the 2-9 start.
They weren’t better than her. She just wasn’t given anything close to a reasonable amount of time to prepare with an entirely new team. And you know that.

Training camp was something like a week and a half. No team was leaning more heavily on a newcomer than Indiana and their opening schedule was absurd.

It was like if the Bears drafted Caleb Williams and then the NFL made them start playing real games two weeks later against a schedule that opened with 3 games against the Chiefs, 3 games against the 49ers, and 2 games against the Bills.

Show us the statistics.

The claim is she was "top 10" in early games. Where is your data?
You want statistics? Through June 6, the Fever were 2-9. Clark was averaging 15.6 points, 6.4 assists, and 5.1 rebounds.

Here is the complete list of every WNBA player who was averaging at least 15/5/5 on that date:

Caitlin Clark
Jackie Young
Natasha Howard

I think I’ve cracked the JP code.

His CC position is similar to his COVID positions. Joe is loathe to employ hindsight in order to critique his POV, and he doesn’t want anyone else to do it. “The facts on hand at the time indicated ________ was the correct thing to do. At. The. Time.”

Joe is a process-focused thinker and his form of review/reflection is to verify that a solid thought-process was employed, rather than placing the past conclusion in the light of present facts—which is how some of us hone our intuition (a thing Joe seemingly would prefer to avoid leaning on heavily).

It probably serves him very well in his life, and he brings a valuable pov here to HORT; it is just irritating when he can’t let it go, because some of us employ different modes of thinking that serve us well in other ways.

The world has gone haywire.......Joe/Angel provided a quote from someone other than himself? It's refreshing to see after the repeated requests to substantiate his opinion led to diversions and deflections.
The quote doesn't have anything to do with what he avoided but it is nice to see that Joe/Angel has the ability to actually attempt to provide some substance to their position.

The good news is he is very good at admitting when he can't substantiate his position.............
