This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

In a classic authoritarian move, Russia has begun the criminalization of showing symbols in support of the LGBTQ community, along with banning people from transitioning. We see it all over the world. Take a small, relatively powerless group and focus all of society’s failures and shortcomings upon them.
Losing a war? It’s the fault of the LGBTQ community.

Sanctions are hitting the transportation of oil. Up to 40 Greek owned tankers had been moving Russian oil, but that number has plummeted to 8 as new sanctions have kicked in.

As far as NATO "going to pot".

The UK is near last on that list...they've been pulling their weight.
But probably not good to encourage Putin by not even being able to put an important aircraft carrier to sea for maneuvers. And of course the irony is that Russia has never been big on carriers and only has one in their entire inventory.

Mechanical issues happen...unfortunate timing. Obviously.

I kind of like this. Russia's whole Cold War history plus is full of doomsday histrionics. It is good that some of these neighbors clap back. Russia has proven it isn't the power Medvedev thinks it is.
Also, Russia has tried to portray Belarus as on war footing since the start of the "SMO" which drains Ukrainian resources to that Belarussian border. Now Russia might be forced to drain its own resources toward a Poland and Finn border that are likewise representing a war footing. I hope the Baltics announce as much next.

"The moment Ukrainian "Storm Shadow/SCALP" missile flies unhindered over the launchers of the S-300/S-400 air defense system of the Russian Air Force. The missiles headed towards the Belbek airfield and will later hit the place of the 38th Fighter Aviation Regiment."

Can't remember if this article on the "ring trades" we have been hearing about was posted.

"That “excess defense articles” authority is particularly powerful. The law limits EDA transfers to $500 million annually, but it doesn’t dictate the monetary value the president assigns to a particular excess weapon. It even could be zero dollars. The main catch, for the beneficiary, is that the law doesn’t allow the United States to pay for transportation.
The advantage of aid legislation is that it would create a fund with which Biden could provide Ukraine with pretty much any weapon the United States can build or buy from another country.

In relying on his existing financing authority—in particular, his excess-defense-articles authority—Biden’s options are fewer. So far, he’s keenest to offer financing, or free excess weapons, to ring-trade brokers so the brokers can provide Ukraine with Soviet-style weapons the Ukrainians already are comfortable operating.

But look for Biden to get more creative as Republican intransigence persists. The president even could donate excess defense articles directly to Ukraine, and in large quantities, assuming Ukraine or some other country pays for shipping."
