Time for Fran to move on?

It's such a stupid argument.

Yeah, I really care but it doesn't bother me when they lose.

That's like saying I really love my wife or girlfriend, but it won't bother me if she walks out on me tomorrow and starts sleeping with one of my co-workers.

You either care a lot and are emotionally invested, or you're not. I'm not going to judge with whichever way you choose, but you can't have it both ways. It is simply not possible to claim that you care about or "love" something, but then act like you don't give a shit when it blows up in your face.

I don't think you have much room calling anyone stupid and then comparing a sports team loss to infidelity. Step back for a second and think about what that says about you.
If no one gave a **** they wouldn't be on a message board talking about it. But Anyone who lets their life get affected by this beyond the usual message board rant, bummed feeling, and angry beer guzzling after a game needs to reevaluate their priorities.

"In fact, in 11 postseason games under McCaffery, the Hawkeyes have never beaten a higher-seeded team. Their overall postseason (Big 10 and NCAA tourneys) record with him as coach: 3-8."

Soon to be 3-9. But, hey, he's better than Likliter. Of course you'll be saying that in five more years when his record is no better. Those of you that love him, keep the excuses, I mean reasons, coming; because, after all, he is better than Likliter.
Without a doubt, Fran is reaping the windfall of following the Lickliter debacle....his bar was set low and it will buy him a few extra years before the torches and pitchforks are broken out.

Personally I'm pulling for him, but settle in folks cuz the next couple years will be bumpy.

I'm excited at the prospect of new blood coiming in. There will be some growing pains but hopefully they can settle in and learn early as there will be 4 new starters.

A lot of bad trends have emerged. What happens when/if we go 1 and done next week?

Very disappointing to have such high hopes and have them dashed by poor desicions down the stretch.

Yes he is NOT a good coach, and he is the biggest HOT head I have every seen, he has taken Iowa as far as he can....time to get somebody with a brain as head coach!

The guards need better playmakers. And better offensive plays

That is 100% on Fran as he can't recruite any guards worth a ding dong. and it is his offense that looks like garbage most of the time and don't get me started on his dumb D

You have to lay some of the blame on his feet because they are his players and his team. Obviously he isn't putting them in the best position to win mentally at the end of the season. At the same time, you can put players in position to make plays but you cant make them for them.

No. We've been better every season since he started. This year looks to be a side step. And that means the end of his tenure? He's earned more time for making us competitive again.

I think he should get two more years to find some balance amongst the classes. This might remedy some issues. Might not. But I think he was forced, early, to recruit the best he can get, and now the he is trying to land the best he wants. Hopefully we see a turn of events in certain situations.

Yes, they were unconscious. Until the B1G tourney, they couldn't hit a bull in the butt with a tennis racquet. For the season, they were ninth in the conference at 36% in 3-pt fg shooting while being tied for last (38%) in defending it. So why now? Against Minny, it was believable, since they were the other team that allowed opponents to shoot 38% from distance. But Iowa was tied for 1st in defending the three at 31%. Ill was very lucky, but Iowa's lack of defensive intensity, and just plain ol' being out of position at times, was the biggest factor. And I believe that PU--a team Iowa swept by double digits twice--will expose the real Illinois team.
Illinois 1-8, 12.5% in first half against Purdue.

Yeah, bring back little Lick.

This is the laziest post I've seen in some time. Anger toned down? What? Mental toughness? You mean like overcoming an 11 point deficit in crunch time?

I really effing hate lazy narratives by idiots trying to find a magic bullet explanation.
Why are they down 11 against Illinois, the same team that was shelled the very next game against Purdue. Some act like they were down by 11 against MSU, Indiana, or Maryland and came storming back. Of course, in typical Fran style they could not close the deal. Kind of like Fran and recruiting, he seems to never seems to close the deal on his first choice.

Oh and he's got to develop a bench from game 1 of the season, so that by game the 2nd half of the Big 10 season people aren't seeing their first meaningful minutes. You pick your subs and gradually increase their minutes as the season progresses. Cause if this February fatigue thing is real, we need subs who have experience.

When fans whine about the bench I think we forget that one of the expected main contributors off the bench was lost for the season after 6 games in Dale Jones.

As for Fran I remember last year after N'Western loss this was the same tone on the board Iowa was 6-6 and people were out with their pitchforks to get rid of him. Now after going 6-0 down the stretch and killing Davidson Fran was all of a sudden a good coach again. Now this year we started like we ended and Fran is a great coach again, now we are back to the post N'Western loss vibe from last year. Let's be honest if most fans were told 12-6 finishing in tie for 3rd with our schedule I'm sure most of us would have been happy for that coming into this season. But it's the way we finished now we have the typical over reactors and thinking he's a bad coach. For those who don't think Fran is a good coach just look at his track record he Wins every where he goes to including Iowa. As for recruiting he has had some misses but are people's memories so short they already forgot he has a top 50 player coming in next year in Tyler Cook.

As for those complaining he get's too much slack for post Lickliter era got to remember every new coach and the program they are taking over are different cases. Look at what Greg Gard inherited at Wisconsin. Look at Crean and his first 4 years at Indiana and the mess he got.

the Iowa fan base are bi-polar drunk / hangover posters.

the amount of people shit faced / hungover / half asleep at the Big Ten Championship football game really opened my eyes to the fact our fan base really has a serious drinking problem as a whole.

drunk & stupid is no way to go through life but it is damn near a personal motto for some of our "fans."

I'll have to assume you didn't attend Iowa, if this is news to you.

Can you at least wait until the tourney is over to start your witch hunt. This guy has put us in the tourney 3 straight years and given us exciting basketball to watch.
