Hello, I know this is way early but I'm super curious about the line-up for Iowa. I looked at Penn St. and they're loaded plus Oklahoma State has some super talented young guns for the next 2 and 3 years. Be realistic because if Brands does not start true freshmen, then what's the line-up? Who's at 125, 133, Turk at 141, Sorensen at 149, Kemerer at 157, Paddock at 165, 174, Wilcke at 184, 197, and Stoll at hvy. Remember, will Brands put out true freshman? Also is Wilcke going to be a top 6 guy or how about Paddock can he move up to all-american? Thanks for the info, always fun to speculate.

Here's the breakdown for 2016-2017. If you want 2017-2018, just ignore the Seniors on this list.

Now, I'll give my opinion for each weight:

125 - Mejia or Wagner, I'm guessing Wagner because of the Brands redshirt rule
133 - Renteria or Rathbun, see 125
141 - Turk, Happel
149 - Sorensen
157 - Kemerer
165 - Marinelli
174 - Young
184 - Wilcke
197 - Holloway
285 - Stoll

After Gilman and Clark graduate Wagner and Rathbun will be coming off the RS year. Look for them to fill those two spots. Renteria/Mejia will most likely both RS that year and compete for a starting spot the following year. Lee would be a great addition, but we're fighting against PSU to get him.
41 will be Turk
49,57 will be a combination of BS/Kemerer. BS will decide where he wants togo. If BS goes 49 all four years look for Ryan and Turk to bump up to 49 after he graduates. Happel would then take over 41
65 I think we see Marinelli next year as a True freshmen.
74 will have Bowman, Paddock, and Young battling for this spot after Meyer graduates.
84 will be Wilcke after Brooks graduates. Look for Iowa to add depth here and at 97 in the 2017 class. Jacob Warner would be great!
97 will be Holloway next year unless Klapp is injured all year and seeks a medical year like Huntley of Michigan got this year.
285 Stoll

* could also see Meyer and Brooks go up a weight next year making room for Paddock at 74.

Joey Gunther will be in the mix at either 165 lbs or at 174 lbs. Too good to ride the bench.

plus Luke Troy coming in at 149/157
If BS moves up to 57 I see Troy filling in nicely at 57 after he graduates.

Gunther is going to have a hard time finding a spot with Marinelli, Young, and Paddock in the room.

I wouldn't pencil Berge in. Still need a commitment. Figure he goes 170 next year. Could be 165-184 after a RS year.

Here's my take:

125-Lee
133-Meija
141-Turk
149-Sorenson
157-Kemerer
165-Marinelli
174-Young
184-Wilke
197-Holloway(Berge will push though)
Hwt-Stoll

Lee-AA at least, not ashamed to say that if he comes to Iowa, he'll be in the finals his freshman year
Meija-AA at least, kid is going to be a buzzsaw ala Ramos
Turk-I just see this guy taking his lumps now and turn himself into a solid, trustworthy guy that will get us points in March.
Sorenson-NC
Kemerer-AA at least, hoping that they allow Mike to continue to grow, as he's already shown he's ready, in my opinion, to be on the mat for us.
Marinelli-Still some quality guys once Dieringer graduates, but I'm safely saying that Alex will also be in the finals this year!
Young-another grinder that's only improving. Already avenged some losses from last year and won a Super 32, and the kid just comes ready! Round of 12
Wilke-Hoping the room gets him ready
Holloway-See Wilke, although I have to believe that Brady Berge will be here also, and pushing, very hard to get on that mat!
Stoll-Good heavys out there, but Sammy is only getting better, and doing it against top guys. I would like to see him wrestle Marsden again to see the improvement. But, AA at least.

That's my take, I'm going back to my recliner to play quarterback in my underwear and eat Cheetos.

From what I've seen this year I think it's more likely that Berge pushes at 184 than 197. But things can change.

Adding Lee would be great because he's awesome and it would be nice to stop PSU from getting another #1 recruit.
84 ,97 depth is a must. Brady Berge and Jacob Warner would be great to come in and add that depth and push Wilcke and Holloway. If they happen to win the starting spot then so be it.
Looks like all these guys have Iowa on there radar so here's hoping!!! Go M*! Go HAWKS!! See you in Madison tonight!

Just a couple future thoughts.

This board is way to fast to annoint Kaleb Young at this point. I like the kid and he has really gotten a lot better lately but I think and dont know why this board has built him up a bit more than what he really is. He could be good but he is not a sure fire starter talent like Marinelli or Mejia or Kem coming in. I do think he will be a starter someday but just many are out over there skies with him. Not sure he was even top ten recruit in the YG room. But Young and Marinelli give me a lot of faith in M* that he sees a few years down the road. Marinelli wasnt the all world recruit when he first signed. Hes grown and won into that. Manville was suppose to be the next great one. time will tell but kudos to M* for being in early on them both.

We really need Happel to be what we hope he will be. I like Turk and he very well will likely be the 141 starter next season but we have built him up on this board as well.

Nobody really talks about Luke Troy on this board very much. Heck most who post future lineups in this thread probably didnt think about him or so it seems. Van Hawkman couldnt even give him an honorable mention. Must be east coast bias like the heisman. Joking a bit but seriously, why is he overlooked in most future projection? Hes good.

I hope Holloway is getting everything out of the practices to get better and not just watching the clock and going through the motions. Hope Brands is sinking in and the lightbulbs are going on. IMO his mind was behind his talent and body coming in. I worry about he and Wilcke being what we hope and need at 184/197 down the road.

Likewise Wagner is a kid to watch. What a little junk yard dog. This kid is Iowa practice room throwback mentally tough. When I asked the Disney dual iowa coaches i was told this kid is a fighter and pound for pound the toughest kid that was on that team. Hes a honey badger type. He dont care who you are your going to get a fight in all positions. Id keep an eye on him. Can his talent catch his mind? Perfect training partner even if he never ends up starting.

Matt Malcom is reminding me of Alex Meyer in the sense that his current wrestling level seems to dwarf his resume. He and Wagner would be solid Sleeper picks. Cant wait to see Malcom at state. Late bloomer? dont know much about this kid.

All Young has been anointed is that after Meyer graduates he and Paddock will be our best options at 74. People are just very encouraged by what he has done this past year.

Young has come on as of late, but I agree, he's not a sure fire starter. I hope he continues to develop and improve.

Luke Troy has a very nice resume and I've enjoyed watching videos of his wrestling. However, my main concern about him is that he is really short. He's strong, no doubt, but I wonder if he'll struggle at the college level.

I share your concerns about Holloway and Wilcke. I was hoping that he would hit the ground running at 184, but he's been just ok thus far. Holloway has a higher ceiling I think, but it remains to see if all that athleticism translates.

You're right, I guess I really don't know much about Troy, so I didn't mention him, which I admit is unfair because he seems to be a decent pickup for sure. And forgot about Warner, he'll be a good one as well, way to keep me honest!

So you can figure out Penn State and Oklahoma States future lineup but can't figure out the team you root for?
