The Democrats are doing poorly because they like the Republicans are all in on neoliberal policy. The Republicans while also not helping workers found enemies to blame for what ails the working class. To boil it down as far as possible the problem is race, immigrants, and DEI.
The Democrats have been under control of the neoliberal arm for decades now which would be a right wing ideology in most developed nations. In being neoliberal they aren't able or willing to really make hard pushes for workers rights. It's why they even started losing union voters and why those type of voters were attracted to the right wing rhetoric which informed them of something that might be why things have continued to get worse.
I'm not actually trying to be too harsh on Democrats as they have actually tried to impact some change for workers while Republicans have supported change that favors the oppressor class almost exclusively.
To boil it down to the election was decided by the left being name callers is ludicrous. Especially when you consider it to be a calling card of the right in modern politics and the right wing propaganda machine. If anything Democrats have held onto too much decorum and civility.
