As the host stated, it was “the elephant in the room” so it needed to be dealt with early. And I think you can make a sound argument that putting this up front actually presented Trump with an opportunity to address the issue right off the bat and establish some rapport with the audience.
The campaign staff failed Trump by not having him prepared because any fool would have known the question “why should back voters choose you?” was going to be coming. In fact, that is the one single question, above all others, that he should have been prepared for.
Well, they probably tried, but Donald reads and writes at a 4th grade level and is well known for not preparing. I assume it’s ADHD and his inflated ego at work. And, I also assume he went there with the express purpose of causing a scene in order to get attention, and to rile up the rubes and racists who only saw yesterday as an unfair attack on Trump.
