And as usual, a certain demographic is losing their shit over the foul difference and hating on CC.

Right!? USC is playing an identical seed as WV from the same conference. The difference is that team (KU) is 20-12.

We've seen that much earlier. KSU 3x and even ISU gave us fits w/ their defense. Makes me wonder if Fran or Lisa ever think that having some of that physical, aggressive, quickness w/ body control would be beneficial.
The only people I've seen saying crap are Iowa State fans. Which is too bad because I mostly saw supportive posts from Iowa fans last night.
It's a style of play and it's how you play teams that are more athletic and/or skilled than you. Pull them down in the mud with you and hope you can scrounge up enough points to win. Wisconsin men have been doing it for decades.

So I’ll drop a couple things and read from here forward… remember, a few days ago I said our dangers are much closer to home on our side of the bracket.
For all intents and purposes, this matchup was intended to catch us up. I’m not saying they did it on purpose per se, but they pretty clearly matched us up on this side with an early challenge.
Now, undoubtably many of you guys have been hostile & angry, this whole entire thread, or rather game, but here’s what I saw.
The only other time this year, when CC was the only person to make a three, we lost to Kansas state. But today we won.
We were all out of sorts early in the game, and we saw a lot of emotion. But pretty much halftime on, CC calmed it down and kept very good control on her emotions, and in fact, in that fourth quarter she really didn’t force the issue, hardly at all she walked the ball up the court & she played with big-time composure….
Hannah played her ass off and there should never be a negative comment made about her, yes she missed some bunnies but she literally was key to this game game..
Kate Martin also ended up with 10 rebounds, and she didn’t shoot very well, but she also didn’t check out and we won…
Gabby Marshall had a terrible shooting night but those of you who complained about her all year and second-guessed her defense… There is an absolute reason why she is on the floor. I’m going to confess she is actually a lockdown defender when she wants to be, Lisa just didn’t deploy her that way most of the year….
This team played really good defense. They forced them to take three pointers of which they aren’t good at. They took 12 more than they normally take and only made two more….
At the end it looked like West Virginia was the team that was tired.
We did not panic at all, we stayed composed. Thats what champions do. They grind out an extremely tough victory….
Earlier in the year, many people suggested we were a poor rebounding team, not!! Except for the inexplicable two times to three times a game where we take a break on defensive rebounding. We are a fantastic rebounding team…again Key to our victory….
We are a finesse, offensive team. But we Crawled in the pit and won a slugfest. That will pay dividends down the road.
This team trusted itself, stayed checked in and won by 10!
This was good for us. It’s not negative, I’m not worried about our shooting. In my memory many if not, most of the eventual champions, have an extremely tough game or two along the way early.
We will play better against Colorado.

I did a search on 'scouting report on Colo women's bball' and a couple of results said they are a good defensive team.
But there was a reason Iowa made 22 more free throws than wvu tonite and that is because they slap, grab, bump, reach around a lot, a whole lot. About 15 more fouls could have easily been called on them. I dont think colo will be that physical but maybe play good position defense
Yep. Need something to stop the run. Learn how to draw a foul and get to the line, not chuck up another 3.
Although.... We've beat the last two teams to deploy this tactic. Would like to see a little more improvement than we saw today.
But we won the damn B1G championship and got to the sweet 16 against 2 teams playing that kind of BS basketball
Exactly. I mean, the foul difference looks off, but they were in Iowas face the whole time. That was their strategy, and they didn’t back off from it.

As previously stated, while WV certainly is no offensive juggernaut, the 2nd half defense was pretty damn good.
And I saw ZERO panic from the Hawks.

WV was playing a contact sport like football of rugby. The refs could have called significantly more fouls on the mountaneers. Iowa is a finesse team that loves to run and WV's only option to try and win was to play a physical style and slow it down.
say what you will about ISU haters but consistency is their strong suit.

Honestly, this game may have been necessary for the Hawks. We won't play a more defensively stout team than WV. Hopefully going forward we'll be even sharper on offense.
