Who do we need to cheer for, from here on out for us to get to the CCG?

You schmuck, lol.

Southwest Iowa is the West Virginia of our state.

I will take the high ground as usual.

So what is northwest Iowa?

north central?

south central?

central?

Don't stop with just those regions, please enlighten us. Label the rest of Iowa.

If you aren't Eastern Iowa, you aren't crap. Mississippi River to be exact.

I think it's important to bear in mind that if we win all of our games, we don't have to worry about what anyone else does.

God I hope not. This is going to be a good season. And playing in the Cap One Bowl or something like that would be a kick in the balls. I just want ONE freaking Rose Bowl. I am not greedy.
i would just like to point out that Capital One now sponsors the Orange Bowl, so while it is not the Rose Bowl, that would still be a nice prize;)

Most threads digress after the 10th post to a pissing contest between High Estrogen posters....so I say you should be cheering for the Hawkeyes:D.

In the mean time, I'll enjoy the wins and not stress too much about how the rest of the division is going.

Nobody; we control our own destiny.

The University of Iowa Hawkeyes, that's who!

No one. Just win our own games and don't worry about the others.

until we hear the final gun!!

If we win all our games we are in it. Can't be any clearer than that.

Iowa. If they win out I think we got a shot to get there. Ha.

Duh, this?

Enjoy the season guys, damn.

The Iowa Hawkeyes. Pretty simple.

I'm just saying . . .

Lol, I haven't lived in the state for 15 years, so I really don't have a dog in the fight. But it's Des Moines metro & then everything else in Iowa. Sorry but true. And most everybody I've met from other states know of Des Moines & couldn't name a 2nd city in Iowa.

Cheer against Nebraska. Always.

Yep.

I cheer madly for every football team they play against. And it's not because I hate The Nebraska Cornhuskers football program, players, or history. It's because of their select "more than a few" fans' lack of ability (by choice I believe) to live in today's college football world.

Penn State tends to not be very far behind in this.

Wisconsin is the only team with a schedule more favorable than us down the stretch. Cheer for Nebraska and Michigan. I could care less if NW is undefeated when we're out there. We never play well there so I'm already counting that as an L. And then hope we win out and NW gets beat in Madison.

We'll find out a lot about NW this weekend I believe. I know they beat Dook and Stanford...but sometimes it's when you play somebody that's just as important as where you play them.

NW/UM is going to be a game very much like UI/UW...a very bruising affair. 9-6...something like that, is very possible.

All the culture in this state is on the River and the East Side. Deal with it.

That's probably true, and if I can speak for all of us in Iowa that don't live in Des Moines we hope it stays that way! :)

These types of threads aren't supposed to be started until after we lose a game.....

But, as a general rule, cheer for the East to win inter-divisional games against the West, and cheer for the teams you've beaten in the West to beat teams that have beaten you or you have yet to play.

At this point, however, I don't like thinking about what kind of "help" we need from other Big Ten teams, because at this point, we don't need ANY.

So there is no BIG 10 law or ruling that would help us? Based on records or division championships?

Speaking out of my rear, wouldn't the Rose Bowl only be required to take the champ if the champ was left out of the playoff? I would think the rules would have be written that way for exactly this scenario.

Michigan - can give Northwestern a loss and pretty much nail shut Minnesota's coffin.

Nebraska/Northwestern - needs to beat Wisconsin, given how easy Wisconsin's schedule is. Essentially eliminating them if a loss to either.

MSU - will give Nebraska a loss. Essentially eliminating them.

PSU - to tack on another loss to Northwestern.

We might be in pretty good shape, and with a little margin for error if this goes down the way I hope.
Any B1G East team play a B1G West team. Except for Indiana & Maryland against Iowa. I'm sure this has been said as I've only read one post out of 58 on this thread.

I enjoy watching the fans that think Iowa is not going to lose at least three games and have hope. Have you watched either line or LBs and secondary? It's going to get ugly. The only way it can get worse us Kirk's dumbass thinks Daniels is a good RB.

The Rose Bowl doesn't take, they get what they're given. The committee assigns the playoff and New Year's Six teams. They are obligated to assign Big Ten and Pac-12 champs to the Rose if they're not in the playoffs, though, so your end result is correct.
