Who still believes Covid didn’t come from a lab?

Make this a poll, OP.

Would be amusing to see how few people are buying your bullshit. :)

I bet you don't, though. You'd rather wallow in your ignorance.
My favorite response so far remains this one. It's crazy how far people will go to suspend common sense when they're told to.

“For the second time in a week, a new poll shows Americans leaning strongly toward the belief that the coronavirus leaked from a lab rather than occurring naturally.
The Quinnipiac University poll shows Americans side with the former view by 64 percent to 22 percent. And just last week, an Economist/YouGov poll showed an even stronger split in favor of a lab leak: 66-16”

And this was from March 2023. I would guess spread is larger now. I don’t see how anyone could honestly say that from nature is most likely scenario. I don’t care what party a person is. Or what they believed when Covid started.

And this is why being tied to a party is ridiculous. It’s really kind of embarrassing to see people even suggest nature.

I don’t know about Fauci covering it up as much as Fauci didn’t listen to his team. There was a poster on here who worked with the CDC and met with Fauci on a number of occasions during the COVID days. He posted about them going through meetings and leaving the meeting with a clear direction only to have Fauci go on air and say the complete opposite.
If you could link those posts it would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Better yet; Who still cares?
I f***ing care. We should all care. Every single human being on this planet should care.
If this virus was created in a lab, which is looking more likely every day, the next step is discovering how and why it got out. If it was an accident, we need to establish better safeguards. If it was intentional, those responsible need to be brought to justice.
By simply saying, "who cares," we lose any possible opportunity to gain something positive from the outbreak and doom ourselves to it happening again.

Exactly right. The best way to solve a problem is to find the root cause.

Never going to find out anything from China.

If somebody can’t crack the mystery by looking at the DNA of the virus itself we will never know until the Chinese government collapses.

Based on likely odds IMO it came from the lab.

If it was an accident, it's more than just making sure it doesn't happen again. The EcoHealth Alliance grant application specifically states the goal of making the virus more transmissible to humans. The NIH has already published a letter saying EcoHealth Alliance lied on required reports. This was and is criminal negligence funded by the United States, and Fauci has been trying to avoid taking the blame.

Kristian Andersen e-mailed Fauci saying the genetic sequence was strange, and indicated there was no natural progression. That prompted a conference call with other scientists.

Shortly after that call came the memo from the scientists on the call saying that natural origin was most likely. Kristian Andersen changed his mind.

Kristian Andersen had a multimillion dollar grant application on Fauci's desk at the time.

Andersen lied to Congress about the grant application

And there's Andrew Rambaut ~ “Given the shit show that would happen if anyone serious accused the Chinese of even accidental release, my feeling is we should say that given there is no evidence of a specifically engineered virus, we cannot possible distinguish between natural evolution and escape so we are content to with ascribing it to natural processes.”

“Yup, I totally agree that’s a very reasonable conclusion,” Andersen responded. Although I hate when politics is injected into science – but it’s impossible not to, especially given the circumstance. We should be sensitive to that.”

And these were statements made in February 2020 ~
  • “I really can’t think of a plausible natural scenario,” wrote Dr. Robert Garry. “In the lab it would be easy.”
  • “The only thing here that strikes me as unusual,” wrote Dr. Andrew Rambaut, “is the furin cleavage site,” something much more likely to be produced by a lab than by natural transmission.
  • Dr. Edward Holmes wrote he was “60-40 lab.”
And here's an article from Reason, with links to all underlying e-mails, etc., that summarizes it all. For those who don't want to trust sources other than MSNBC, you can read the source documents and form your own conclusions.

What other "data" do you have then?

You have NONE.
What is the probability of a novel coronavirus first showing up a few miles from a bio lab that specializes in studying novel bat coronaviruses?

Where they were specifically working on gain of function research.

The chance that the lab is not related to covid is about zero.

Law of large numbers, world statistics for covid deaths.

Again I find myself seriously questioning your grasp of the sciences.
The science community and the majority of the government agencies still state the most likely cause was the wet market. I guess I would have serious concerns that you understand basic science and information.

And even that person who is incredibly skeptical calls it essentially a 50/50 on Lab leak vs natural origin.

Every epidemic/pandemic in human history has been the result of natural development of organisms.

In fact this specific family of virus has been responsible for multiple epidemics SARs and MERs in recent history. It was always a matter of time until we had a global pandemic and the coronavirus was arguably the most likely culprit besides the flu.

It's possible that the virus was created in a lab but nature has proven more than capable of creating nasty viruses. I think the lab theory is a appealing because it comforts people because it makes the pandemic seem more preventable.

Me thinks you don't understand odds
A virus just happens to pop up in an area with a lab where scientist F’ed around with them.

That lab could have been located in literally billions of locations around the globe. Just happen to be where the outbreak started.

Tell me about “odds” some more please.

This.

The "who cares" counter argument is mind boggling...

Apparently the truth doesn't matter if it's politically inconvenient.

The lab leak theory is appealing because there was research happening in the vicinity of lab where the virus started for 5 years to make the SARS virus transmissible to humans.

No, it is due to lab theory being the FAR more likely scenario given circumstances. Not due to comfort

Then why isn't the lab ground zero . . . why is it a wet market where breakouts like this have occurred before??

Then all you need to show is how it transferred from the lab to scientists or staff and then spread out from there . . . except the facts don't show that, it show the cases are in a bullseye around the wet market. You want to take a coincidence and jam it down our throats as facts, when the facts don't represent that.

You believe China. I don’t. And never will. They run over their own people with tanks. They harvest organs from their own citizens.

But go ahead and believe.

Just to be clear these viruses have been transmissible to humans for a lot longer than 5 years. Coronavirus has been a known infectious agent in humans for over 50 years and SARs was an outbreak on the early aughts.

Weird that the virus eventually spread across the entire globe...
But, magically, did NOT spread "around the lab", NOR within the ranks of the workers at the lab.

This was CONFIRMED by the Australian colleague who met with many of them in December 2019 and testified that information to those reviewing the origins.

Which is 100% inconsistent with the virus "sweeping through" the lab due to a lab leak. If you want to claim a "lab leak" you have to explain why almost NONE of the workers at the lab were showing "flu-like" symptoms during that timeframe, yet there were documented cases all over the wet market areas.
