Vance, like Pete, have a lot of experience talking in front of a camera. Much more experience than Walz. Vance definitely excelled in that aspect and it's why he looked much more polished.

It's when he tries to be a human with working class people he doesn't know what to do.
Walz was in the House for 6 terms and a governor for 2....he's not a neophyte.

He's not a neophyte, but there is an obvious experience gap between the two when it comes to talking to a TV audience.
Might be because Walz hasn't done interviews since he was nominated for VP.

Avoiding the press has consequences apparently.

Vance has been on the Sunday morning talk shows and actually talks to the press on the campaign trail.

The thing is...if Trump could admit he lost he'd have a much better chance at winning.

The dude is such a pathological narcissist that he can't bring himself to do it. Even when it's in his own self interest...

Kind of mind blowing actually.
How many times has it been said that Trump was his own worst enemy. Heck, you could argue if he’d deleted his twitter account, he’d have been reelected.
I learned in 7th grade Civics class that the main constitutional duty of the VP is to break Senate ties and count (not delay) Electoral College votes. That's it. They can't write Executive Orders, they're not the head of state, they're not Commander in Chief. John Nance Garner was a VP of FDR. He famously described the vice presidency as being "not worth a bucket of warm piss"

Has Harris gained experience as VP? Absolutely. Is she qualified? Maybe not to the extent I would like but in comparison to...well, there is no comparison.
If Walz had one thing I wished he’d have hit Vance for, it was to pushback on every time that Vance talked about the Harris policies, agenda, etc; he clearly had the game plan of timing Harris as the architect of everything in the last four years. Was Bidens name mentioned even once?
I actually agree with this for the most part.

I can see a path for him surviving politically when the Trump/Vance ticket loses.
He’s only 40 so I certainly don’t expect him to vanish after this election win or lose.

Question is whether he can establish himself as his own man for presumably future presidential campaigns.

Also possible that he’s simply not very good in a debate format.
Plus we know people from Minnesota don’t want to debate in the first place.

Very much this. The basement campaign backfired massively last night. Will be interesting to see if him and Kamala stay true to that approach or if this forces them to put themselves out there more. Personally I think they will keep to the basement campaign and rely on the MSM to carry the water for them. There are several sound bites that are gonna hurt them from the debate and walz is an easy target for memes.

I’m going with Vance won………something to consider is if Trump gets assassinated. Would Vance be a better replacement or vice versa. The way Walz acted I don’t think he would be a good replacement.
Vance won if this was for 2028. Seems to me he put a lot his own ambitions first. TFG can't be happy with him, well except for the who won 2020 part.

I’m suspicious that the questions were leaked ahead of time. Both candidates seemed to be prepared to talk about the issues raised by the moderators: immigration, Israel, housing. What are the odds?

Since the debate thread got shut down...a simple poll. Who won?

I think for all intents and purposes it was basically a tie. Each had their moments. I did like that it was a more traditional debate and they were basically civil with each other...

Kind of weird (sadly) to see them shaking hands, talking and introducing their spouses to each other afterwards. Used to be the norm but really hasn't been in the last 3 cycles...

we all won when a certain individual now isn't posting

Vance is a Yale Lawyer, Walz is a meathead gym teacher. The intelligentsia of HBOT will arrive shortly to tell you how stupid the lawyer is.
While Vance is better at debate, when your substance requires you to lie, all you have is debate technique.
Vance is nowhere near trump level of dishonest, he had to lie about his abortion stance, healthcare and ACA because his positions are indefensible.
Walz debate was only bad considering he didn't fact check vance in real time. And those were big omissions by Walz.

Why is this still being brought up.? Trump is on record saying he didn't win the 2020 election, albeit late in game and in true asinine Trump fashion.

Walz whiffed on the China thing. Riding his bike around the neighborhood in Nebraska was humorously sad. And being friends with school shooters. Maybe they were pheasant hunting buddies?
Vance will have trouble defending his performance? You just telegraphed what the Dems have decided is their plan of attack.
Abortion shows up consistently as not in the Top 3-4 issues voters care about. 16-17%.

While I’m pro choice I’m like most voters who see high food prices, the state of the economy, global peace threatened, and domestic issues that divide us as larger issues.

Use a condom and reduce the need for abortions. Be part of the realization that your sperm and her egg don’t really need to meet up unless you want them to. Stop being influenced by emotion and take charge of your personal life.
You’ve posted here about what happens when pregnancies go bad. Women are dying needlessly in this country post Dobbs because care is delayed or refused. That has nothing to do with condoms or ladies keeping their knees closed.

Vance is the only one of the four that belongs within 100 miles of DC.
Walz is a nutbag phony, Kamala is an idiot, and even the non extreme left and right wings know Trump's flaws.
So depressing this is where we are with national politics.

Walz has been labeled a magnet for illegal immigrants. He is clearly even further left than Kamala.

What follows is how he runs a state. Do Americans want this for the entire country? Was any of this brought up by Vance?

* Minnesota is a sanctuary state. That status almost became law. An estimated 95,000 undocumented people live in MN. See more on how the sanctuary state status almost became law here: https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/n...-sanctuary-state-for-undocumented-immigrants/

* Walz was very late in bringing in the National Guard during the riots in May, 2020, following George Floyd's death. As a result, the Democrats in charge surrendered the police station to the rioters and large chunks of Minneapolis & St Paul burned to the ground. Normally the buck would stop at the governor's desk. Walz, instead, tried to blame the embarrassment on the Democrat Minneapolis mayor, but no one was buying it.

* Under Walz's watch, 77 Somali-Americans stole $250M from the U. S. Dept of Agriculture. How did they do it? They generated fake invoices that claimed they were feeding thousands of children daily during the pandemic. They submitted those invoices to Feeding our Future (a MN non-profit) and got paid their millions. Feeding our Future got reimbursed by the State of MN, which got reimbursed by the U.S. Dept of Agriculture. There was little to no oversight on what these individuals were doing (or should I say, not doing). It took someone tipping off the Feds before the FBI raided the Feeding our Future offices. Only $60M of the $250M has been clawed back. Want to learn more? Simply google Feeding our Future

* Illegals will get free college tuition in MN if they are part of a household making less than $80,000. Needless to say, not every tax payer is ok with that. The story: https://www.scrippsnews.com/us-news...grants-eligible-for-free-college-in-minnesota

* The Driver's License for All law in Minnesota went into effect on October 1, 2023, allowing all residents to apply for a driver's license, permit, or identification card regardless of their immigration status

all of these are disingenuous at best and if you really thought these were disqualifiers, then you certainly shouldn't be voting for trump.

No.

But it kept coming up and I was curious as to why.

Chis and I got along fine when he arrived in Nov, 2019.

But then he started attacking anyone (including independents) who disagreed with him on an issue or on a candidate, calling them a traitor to the country, Orange Turds, MAGAts, or worse.

When he thought it was too late for Biden to drop out, he attacked those who disagreed.

He can't have a civil conversation with anyone.

There are people out there that are undecided.
Historically, the VP debate has moved the needle very little in elections.

Not sure when they started, but they’ve always been a little weird to me. The candidates somehow have to look competent and relatively normal, but can’t really say everything they want because they have to align with the POTUS candidate, and then they can’t be so good that they outshine the POTUS candidate either.

I usually don’t engage directly with him. Even when agreeing with him, he finds ways to pick fights with them as well.

He reminds me of one of my uncles, it’s really difficult to have a discussion that doesn’t devolve into an argument.

Vance went to college to be a lawyer. He can be smooth at times, then can be an absolute idiot at others. He has had more missteps than I can count. Right now what are the biggest issues for the Trump/Vance campaign - The dog/cats - that was pushed initially by Vance. Cat ladies, as those that don't have kids. Again issue pushed by Vance. That he cannot admit Trump lost the election. These are all on Vance. Then of course abortion and January 6th.

You can talk about missteps by Walz, but he has nothing compared to those by Vance. They didn't really go after his misstatements on his military record, seems like that was nothing they could really get him on. Now appears maybe they will go after China ties.

Of the 2, though the biggest hits will still be on the Trump/Vance side, especially with Trump unwilling to do another debate. Will be interesting if the polls begin to converge or continue to sway Kamala's way.
