He seems to love the NBA, but a phone call to Ryan Bowen would be a good idea. As a player, we brought exactly what Iowa has been missing (in addition to a quick PG).
Why not get Rick Pitino?

I was not serious one bit with the original post. It was a saracastic post targeted towards the people on here who think Buzz Williams or Wojo would be willing to come to Iowa. We have more of a shot with Pitino than we do those
two or anyone else mentioned from a P5 school. It seems the only thing that matters to the Fire Fran crowd is win, which is fine. But as soon as someone who would win(and cheat doing so) is mentioned, everyone says no way not Pitino. I agree. Why not be satisfied with a guy that does things the right way, goes to bat for his players all the time(unlike Alford or Lick who were always blaming the players), and gets us to the tourney more often than not since the program has been firmly in his hands(first three years so not count) We aren’t Duke, we never will be. Hell we aren’t even Iowa State in large part because of the type of players we bring in. I feel like Fran has overachieved greatly with this roster and unless we start cheating to get good players or our boosters/administration take basketball serious with a major upgrade in facilities we are what we are. If we fire Fran we will get another mid major coach who will at best be what Fran is now. At worst we get another Lickliter. The grass isn’t always greener.

Pitino seems to be enjoying Greece so might be a bit premature to think he'd leave, no? It'd be like he only lasted there for 15 seconds. That would be "unfortunate".

Iowa fans wouldn't even put up with Raveling not wearing a suit to the games. Why would they put up with Petino?
The reason those names were brought up is that Iowa can and should take a shot at them not that they were 100% realistically coming. I and many other fans would be happy with a reboot PERIOD even if we get another mid-major head coach or a hot P5 assistant.
Iowa is in a period of time where they will be a top 10-15 athletic dept in revenue for at least the next 15-20 years due to the way power conference media contracts are written with the Big Ten in the strongest position of the leagues in terms of leverage. Iowa is also one of the least debt leveraged institutions in P5 as well.
This athletic department fully has the means to go out and give these guys a strong offer to turn around our basketball program and I don’t think it is a total pipe dream to go after those types of guys.
You are about the only fan left with the view that this is the best we can do - even lowly Northern Iowa has had more success than us in the tournament in the last 9 years. Fran has made a habit of doing the bare minimum according to some common conventional thinking that if you make the tournament every other year you should keep your job. I don’t think we should have that low of standards.

I am so sick of reading this crap. IT'S HIS FREAKING ROSTER. HIS PLAYERS. You make it seem like he inherited this roster from somebody else. Year 9 and this is what we get. It's a BS product and anybody with half an ounce of basketball knowledge realizes that. Awful guard play. No defense. Late game meltdowns. Losing to a Nebraska team that had practice squad guys playing. This isn't a 1 year anomaly it's a recurring theme and you can hit the fast forward button because it will be the same next season and beyond as long as this clown is here.

This is the type of attitude I am getting sick of. You have been programmed well by the University. “We are just li’l ol’ Iowa and can’t be anything more than mediocre. Can’t make a change because it could get worse and can never get better.”
As for the “No P5 couch would ever come here” nonsense.......Remember Johnny Orr? He left Michigan (a team he took to a national title once), for Iowa State....who was dreadful. Mikesright is correct....you will never have a shot at another P5 coach....if you don’t even try!
