You should NEVER strike a child?

So much to respond to. Will try to keep it short.

I teach middle school - have a lot of insight into situations like this.

First of all, keep in mind this is an extreme situation. I've had a lot of kids tell me to f#%k off over the years, but never had one come at me. The guy exercised great restraint, walking away multiple times. When the kid starts throwing punches, everything changes. I have been taught to NEVER put your hands on a kid unless #1 they might hurt themselves #2 they might hurt another student #3 they might hurt you. My career and freedom is not worth it. As angry as you might be, you walk away.

I have broken up many fights over the years. The last one was two 8th grade girls. Once we (myself and another male staff member) broke through the crowd, we each grabbed a girl from behind, bear hugged them, and got them away from each other. The other girl broke away, came at the girl I was holding, took a swing - missed the girl, and hit me in the shoulder. Long story short, Police were called - they asked if any adults were assaulted. My principal made eye contact with me and nodded yes. She was expelled.

This video does illustrate what is wrong in public schools. Kids know they are untouchable and are not held accountable for their behavior. No one knows what this 10 yr olds home life is like, but its obvious there is very little (if any) structure or discipline at home. You dont act like he did, or speak to that woman the way he did, and have a good home life.

I dont know what the answer is, but I do know that most of our problems in society can be traced back to a breakdown in discipline at home. Like many people in this thread, if i ever got in trouble iin school, I got it 10x worse at home. No, it wasnt child abuse, it was discipline.

Sadly, when you teach long enough, you read about kids who were either killed, killed someone, or put in jail. I have had all three. I am never shocked. You can see it coming. I hope the kid in this video gets some help. He acts as if he is invincible. Someday he will act that way to someone who can fight back.

Sorry for the long rant...

Not reading through entire thread. I assume the adult in the situation was not punished for pushing POS kid to ground.
The mother reportedly arrived and everyone apologised and sorted the incident out until a few hours later when the mother posted a short clip to Facebook of the man pushing her boy only, with his details including name and address.

It’s claimed the man was told to post the full video to clear his name and get the true story out there.

Looks like I was the one who successfully killed this thread for nearly 11 months.

Yeah...not beating up kids is still something I believe in no matter how many of the mob are wanting to do so. Haven't changed my mind at all

The adult needs to be arrested and charged with assault. Nothing that kid was doing was right but a grown man throwing a kid on the ground? No.

Pick him up and set him on the ground and keep him there until the police arrive. Not choke him and throw him on the ground
This is what's wrong with America.

How did he beat him up?
At best he gave him a shove after eating some punches. Kid was absolutely baiting him to do something physical. The adult gave a restrained response. I would have laughed at him and called him a wuss.

Bill Maher makes a good comment about these belligerent shits nowadays. He calls them the "Fvck You Generation."

When that's a kid's starting point little wonder he resorts to physical provocation next.

This is an oldie, but my opinion doesn’t change— I see nothing wrong with the way this adult handled this situation. He avoided confrontation then defended himself when he started to get assaulted and ended it quickly without real violence.

Adult = Not Guilty
Child = Guilty of assault and being a Dbag
