Any shot at Lebron James, Jr?
He's only a 4 star
What's interesting is that back in 2016 there were reports from 2 ESPN reporters that 11-year-old LeBron James Jr. received Duke and Kentucky scholarship offers.
A lot will happen in the next 2 years. Will he continue to develop and become an elite 5 star prospect?
And not sure how much this is affecting how much time college coaches are putting into his recruitment, but he has options 2 years from now, other than college.
1) Adam Silver has confirmed that the NBA has presented a proposal to the National Basketball Players Association that
would allow high school players into the 2022 draft.
2) The G League, if he is not eligible for the 2023 NBA Draft. Here he could make really good money
as a highly ranked 5 star. Jalen Green, for example, was the
highest ranked player in the 2020 high school class according to ESPN. He became the first player to join the
NBA G League Ignite, earning $500,000.
The NBA G League Ignite team is a first-of-its-kind team
dedicated to top young prospects, providing them mentorship, life skills training and development in preparation for the NBA Draft.
From what I have seen, it is the
consensus 5 star recruits who are ending up on the
Ignite G League Team.
Other examples:
* Sterling “Scoot” Henderson, the top point guard in the
class of 2022, signed with NBA G League Ignite. Henderson is a
consensus 5-star recruit and is ranked by ESPN as the No. 7 overall prospect in the class of 2022.
* Henderson joins
2021 top-10 high school prospect Michael Foster Jr. (ESPN No. 7) on Ignite’s newest roster.
