2025-26 Roster - Update Tracker

It’s a play that happens 3 times a game. Maybe 10 times on a good day, but hardly a game changer. Just a highlight thing that people get hung up on. FTR, I like dunks. I like winning more.
Sure a Dunk and a layup are the same, but a guy that can do aggressive dunks probably has length and hops---which are attributes that do translate into shot blocking, rebounding, defense.

This is somewhat off-topic, but while thinking about portal transfers I was wondering whatever happened to Omaha Biliew. He averaged about 3 pts per game as a freshman at ISU and also as a soph at Wake Forest. Is he one of the most over-rated players ever, or maybe still has potential?

I think people(evaluators) were so enthralled with his physical appearance and ability to dunk that they didn't pay attention to any other part of his game, which was lacking.

I was ravaged on these boards a few years ago when I suggested that OB was the most overrated, hyped up player in his class and that there were actually better kids in Iowa alone as far as D1 potential. I guess I'm not as big of an idiot as some believed here at the time. I'm not rooting against the kid whatsoever, he still has time to up his game, but I question if he actually has the work ethic to get there.

my understanding he is still at WF, but got hurt and only played in 8 games or somewhere around that.

Anyone who doesn't want Tadjo to stay is insane.

Yes he's unpolished offensively, so are a lot of other college bigs.

Dude has potential to be a monster defender, rebounder and finisher around the rim and that's really all I care about from the 5 spot.
If BM wants him to stay, then I’m good. If he doesn’t, then next man in.

I watched Tadjo play 3 times in the Canadian equivelent of AAU tourneys Out East in Ontario and He ran the comp off the court all 3 times , Was easily the best Player on the court, very athletic, With a real Coach who puts polish on His game You got a really good Player , He played above the rim and was really quick and finished hard in the paint.
Sorry, but AAU doesn't count. Iowa is in in the Big 10 and you can see how strong it is. 4 teams made the Sweet 16.

With the decommit of Diakite, I updated the original post. I removed all transfers and 2025 decommits.
So right now does BM have four definite players? Six? When do we start to panic about next year’s starting line-up and roster?

It was a basic scouting report from what Myself and 2 other People far more knowlegeable than Me watched , He played well in the 3 games We saw , How a HS kid that is not an elite Prospect translates defends on the Coaching, system and the drive and work a prospect puts in , The basic athletism was better than any other kid on the court all 3 games , Drink another generic beer Francis and relax

Plus, he has 5 fouls ans us willing to use them. As evidenced by his impressive 32 foul per game pace every time he played.

There's still plenty of time. Out of the 1000+ transfers only a handful have signed.

Just cause we can't see it Ben isn't just sitting on his hands.

Their is a C from Fordham we've shown interest in. Ohio st is our competition. Hopefully ben can get him to buy in!

Theirs a sg from ? I'm not gonna look it up. But depaul would be our toughest competition

we also know we're after the 1 from val and the 1 from omaha.

Cooper, dix, and sandfort plus his guys from drake are still out their.

Still don't get why we have a senior pg from depaul visiting though. Waste of money if sturtz is going to play 35+ min

Maybe giving him a break once and awhile will make him stronger at the end of the game. Could see both in the game.

I hope next season is fun and competitive. Top 10 B1G finish NCAA bubble might be nice for a first-year total rebuild.

Very reasonable and realistic post……with Ben Mc win percentage I’m hoping for this and maybe even better!! 🤷‍♂️

It will be fun to compare the Iowa roster rebuild & cost versus Indiana and the now hated DeVries crew. Indiana will probably spend a minimum of double of what Iowa does. But who will end up with the better "team"?

And then compare to the Drake squad.

It will also be fun to see how Brock Harding stats are. Bet ya he doesn’t have a great college career

Indiana in public already stated. They will take the middle of the big 10s spending and double it.

Who has the better team will be interesting. Imagine indiana with the pg from depaul which they will get. Then dix and devries son. They got money for days

Go to the top, I have 4 so far. Trey Buchanan and Jacob Koch are walk-ons. By July they have to go on schollie or cut loose.
Did the Big Ten/Iowa clarify where it stands on the scholarship number? Last I heard it was a 15 player roster but still only 12 or 13 scholarships.

Never. Ben will get some guys, and then he'll coach 'em up. D-II, JUCO, portal, wherever. There is no shortage of talent, but there does seem to be a shortage of patience. Of all the legitimate worries these days, Ben getting some players ain't one of 'em, IMHO.

They can have up to 15 players max and all could be (but don't have to be) on scholarship. Buchanan and Jacob Koch do not need to be given a scholarship to remain on the team, but either way they would count against the 15 man limit.

I agree with others that I'd like to see Tadjo stick around for at least one more year. Whoever is playing PF and C is going to have to have quick enough feet to stay in front of guards, because we will aggressively hedge on ball screens, and also be able to defend B10 centers 1on1 in the post because BMc seems to want to minimize double teaming. There aren't a ton of guys out there with the physical tools to do both of those things but I think Tadjo does.
