Another ridiculous decision

But it's presently not off limits.
Actually junk food does look off limits:

"45. What foods can participants buy with Summer EBT benefits, and where can they
buy them?

Participants who receive benefits through a State-administered Program will be able to
purchase SNAP-eligible food, as defined in the Food and Nutrition Act, at any retail store
approved for participation with SNAP."

Don’t expect dumb fvck to admit he’s wrong and that he gives a shit about anyone other than himself.

Free school lunches and EBT cards are not the same thing. You pretending they're the same doesn't make it so.
I said don't pretend you would support this program. You asked if I was sure and then quoted your post about free school lunch. I'm not pretending anything. You are the actual idiot that is trying to cover up his own mistake by blaming me. You could have said you're right, birch, I don't support this program but now you look like an even bigger moron. So thanks for that. I'm enjoying it.

LOL. If only you had looked first.

Better luck next time Huey.

Any food for the household, such as:

  • Fruits and vegetables;
  • Meat, poultry, and fish;
  • Dairy products;
  • Breads and cereals;
  • Other foods such as snack foods and non-alcoholic beverages; and
  • Seeds and plants, which produce food for the household to eat.

Unless guardrails are put in place I won't support it.

I'm open to well thought out and efficient programs, as evident by my support for universal free lunches.

Having lived in Missouri now for nearly 25 years, watching it turn from bellwether state to deep red idiocy, I used to take pride in my Iowa upbringing and Iowa roots; bragging about It's practicality, progressive thinking, incredible education system, and work ethic. These days, when lamenting how foolish Missouri looks, I can only respond that “yeah, I know how you feel; Iowa has turned into MAGAstan, too.”
I know! What happened here?

Why do some people on here insist on double and triple downing on stupid?

There is nothing wrong with admitting you are wrong. In fact, it shows character.

You liked post #162 and then wrote the above post.

So when are you going to admit that post #162 is wrong?

To those criticizing this decision, would you be agreeable to the issuance of said EBT cards with strict guidelines to ensure that only a pre-determined selection of healthy foods would be eligible for purchase?
I’m fine with that. Just don’t take away recourses from children that need help.

If you only you had read up on the issue before liking the incorrect statement in post 162.
Your wrong post was before my like so you go first.

Eta: @Jimmy McGill is right that admitting mistakes shows character. I thought Huey was right that SNaP approved food no longer included "junk" food but see now that I was wrong.

Oh here we go again...

That story about you discussing something with the Governor and later feeling slighted because of her decision...blah, blah, blah...
Earlier in this thread I wished you a merry Christmas. I take it back. You deserve a shitty Christmas. You have earned it.

I'd be glad to discuss it with you. You were mistaken once (you’ve acknowledged such), so please understand my skepticism with any further claims you may have.
I have no doubt you think you've "won" and proven something. Meanwhile, what you've really done is demonstrate yet again you have no self awareness, no character, no integrity. You are incredibly consistent in that demonstration so congratulations I guess.

You have a propensity for hurling insults. Insults rarely hit home, especially when they're not based in fact.

Meanwhile, I see Saul has returned to like your post. Yet oddly he's still failed to admit his error in this thread.

You guys are entitled to your own opinions but you're not entitled to your own facts.

They are spot on, factually accurate observations that you confirm in thread after thread.

Fine. You can buy junk food. So we should not allow kids access to these programs because a small portion of their purchases will go towards pop or candy?

Over 200,000 kids in Iowa depend on these programs for food. Yet you want to kick them off. What about those facts?

So because they never got this food to begin with, it's ok to make sure they never get it? These are real kids who need real food. And you and Kimmy are ok with making sure they don't get it. I just don't get it. It's beyond punitive. It's vindictive.

Nonsense. Systems are in place to address the need. Throwing out $40 EBT cards which are already ripe for waste and abuse will accomplish nothing.

Instead, Iowa officials say they will enhance and expand "already existing childhood nutrition programs."

"HHS and the Department of Education have well-established programs in place that leverage partnerships with community-based providers and schools who understand the needs of the families they serve," Reynolds said. "If the Biden administration and Congress want to make a real commitment to family well-being, they should invest in already existing programs and infrastructure at the state level and give us the flexibility to tailor them to our state’s needs.”

Iowa pointed to several programs it administers, including the Iowa Department of Education's summer food service program and seamless summer option program, which provided 1.6 million meals to children under 18 during the summer last year. That program is funded by the USDA.

Iowa HHS also administers the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and officials said food banks and other nonprofits provide childhood nutritional programs across the state.

How? Kimmy has made it clear. She won't do it because it costs too much. So how do you expand it with no money?
