Better off without Krikke and Pmac

He's so god awful on defense he makes Patrick look good.

It's not just that he's slow and unathletic, it's that he's soft and is out of position more than anyone else, including Patrick.
That's saying something, something bad.
Then again he went from MVC talent to playing D for a coach who avoids defense like Covid.

Dude couldn't win.

Krikke can score some thats it his D is beyond bad and rebounding not much better, Fran is in denial the same way Kirk is with the offense thinking that their system is working on that side of the ball.
Krikke was recruited to score rebounding and defense are not his strengths

Our starting lineup is incredibly slow with those two in it. Take them out of it and insert Harding and Bowen, move Perkins to the 3 and play Sandfort at 4.
Iowa is getting destroyed on points in the paint and it's primarily from playing those 2 and Sandfort together.

You're not even going to be competitive most nights with that lineup, it's a joke.

Disagree about Krikke,.. Payton makes a lot of unforced errors, Pat will be moving on soon.

Sandfort’s turnovers last night are something an 8th grader would do. Even worse, Fran just stands there and claps. He’s a junior now. No way in hell he should still be that careless with the basketball.
Sandfort is driving me crazy this year. Poor defense, mental mistakes. He has not progressed as I expected. He should be coming off the bench.

I don’t like to jump on the bandwagon but man we have no defenders at all. Braun is tough but I’m thinking if he played 15 minutes he’d have 5 fouls in that timespan. This could be a long season.

It’s not a good sign if a player like Krikke is your #1 option.

I’ve also mentioned that it’s brainless to play Pat/Krikke together. I’m starting Bowen, Perkins, Sandfort, Krikke, Freeman.

The one thing Fran almost never does is manage his lineups to make sure they are good defensively. The weakest defenders are Krikke, PMAC, and Sandfort. Sandfort rebounds pretty well, PMAC is the worst rebounder. PMAC also the worst of the three on offense/shooting efficiency.

I think your lineup is sound, but having two minus defenders out there at same time (Sandfort and Krikke) makes it hard to defend, Obviously Sandfort and Krikke are plus scorers most of the time.

I don't think any sane B-ball coach would start 4-forwards (Krikke,PMAC, Sandfort, Freeman) and a shooting guard...but Fran has that as his starting lineup because 1) He wants maximum offense 2) He doesn't care about defense 3) PMAC has to start because Fran runs the Iowa team to maximize his boys playing time.

The only way PMAC gets taken out of starting lineup is if PMAC himself asks to come off the bench.

I think Fran did pull Sandfort after the 2nd turnover in 1st half. Fran has Sandfort playing guard/bringing the ball up the court but that is not a strength for him.....who exactly are the above average balll handlers in a starting lineup of Freeman, Krikke, Sandfort, Pmac, and Perkins? That lineup is vulnerable to ball pressure.

I was always hopeful on Sandfort because his shot form looks so good and he is a awesome FT shooter. Any open 3pt shot he should hit >50% of the time.....but he doesn't. He also hunts shots and shoots off balance and he's not good at that. His first shot of the game was a turnaround Fading 15ft jumper. If Sandfort was moved to bench, then his Bro Pryce shouldn't even play---Pryce is same player without the game experience.

I thought starting Freeman was the answer. A rim protecting shot blocker extraordinaire.

Give me Dembele and Brauns all day.

Guys that actually want to compete for rebounds and leave the floor to contest shots.

I don't give a shit about their mid range jumper.

Defense is a much bigger area of need.
100% concur

freeman, Perkins sandfort, with any PG can carry enough offense to off set Krikke as a starter with Brauns or dembele as the #4 as they can concentrate on paint Defense, rim protection and rebounding

PMac looked like a 17 yo YMCA player there to shoot only and is always on the 1 and done team

Maybe it’s just time to move on from Fran.

Find a coach who will recruit better athletes and emphasize defense. Oh, and one who is not going to load the roster with his kids and grant them unmerited favor.

Does anyone really think Patrick would still be starting let alone logging big minutes if his last name was Touissant?

University of Iowa athletics have met their quota on nepotism for the next two centuries. Time to turn the page on all of it.

Am I the only one that wasn't expecting him to progress more? He's slow, like real slow. He could be a great role player if we had a strong inside out game that could draw his defender inside.

PMac seems to have lost the "want to" that he had in previous seasons. That may be better for his mental health, but obviously isn't good for the team. Perkins has to take on the leadership role, because there isn't anyone else to do it.

If I got to set the starting line-up, it would be Harding, Perkins, Sandfort, Krikke, and Freeman. I don't much like Freeman and Krikke on the floor together, but for now that seems like the best line-up. Off the bench: Bowen, Dembele, Dix, and PMac (minutes depend on energy level). Pryce Sandfort joins Brauns as deep reserves, playing only if foul trouble or the score dictates.

Sandafort coming off the bench? In favor of who? I don't necessarily disagree, but we just don't have anyone else that can score in bunches like he can. Although his shot selection can sometimes shoot us out of games as well as put us in the games. For most teams, yes. He'd be a great 6th man. But this team needs him to start.

Never ceases to amaze me how unprepared this team is, year in and year out, for brawl ball in Madison,.. Protect the ball, no lazy passes, when you get a rebound wrap it up, and if you're bring the ball up the floor and you only see four defenders you have to know that number five is coming up behind you to strip the ball,.. Phuck Wisconsin!

I've said for some time that Pryce is the one freshman of the 4 that is not ready to play at this level. I'd also agree totally that a lineup of Krikke. Pmac and PS is a recipe for disaster, and then trying to make saucy the point guard is just as bad. Unfortunately Frans insistence that Pmac start is creating this poor lineup, and he's not going to change it....

PMac defense would stand out in a AAU pick up game. Good lord.

I could live with Krikke because of his scoring. He makes a lot of dumb fouls.
