Caitlin ends her Iowa Career with 3,951 Points (NCAA & All-Time "Large School" Record). Megan Gustafson finished at 2,804

After the victory over Maryland in the BIG10 tournament, the radio said that Clark just broke Gustafson's Iowa record for points in her junior year. Clark already owns the record for freshman and sophomore years. Gustafson scored 1001 her senior year, so she may keep that, but Clark has scored 2516 career points with a few games left this season plus next year and maybe her bonus Covid year.

Clark is second in Iowa career assists and on pace to set the record next year. She needs 26 more assists to set the single-season Iowa record. She needs 19 more three-pointers to set that career record. She already owns the Iowa record for double-doubles.

She has tomorrow’s games against Ohio State, two home games to start the NCAA tournament, and at least one more the following weekend (assuming we win at home). That means she will keep moving up on the records lists.

I was on a internet site and several posters were taking off on Clark for being a ball hog. JFC. She's an All-American point guard leading the nation 3 years in a row in assists. Unreal.
Honestly if you only see the scoring highlights or snipits of games you could see people reacting that way. When she pulls from 30ft in the first 5 seconds of the shot clock in a 5 point game, and some of the ref antics. If you watch her in transition or how other people get wide open looks because of her, you understand her impact on the game. Gabby was sizzling yesterday, but she (nor Warnok) get all those open looks without Clark commanding several defenders always needing to be aware of her every move.

The attention she draws makes it a 5 on 4 or even 3 game much of the time. Which is why Monika and the Iowa front line works despite the lack of height. 6'3" is decent for center but not towering. Diamond Miller (forward) is 6'5". The Ohio St. center is 6'5" I believe.

Yesterday, in the Championship game, Caitlin got her 10th career triple-double, her 4th this season. She had 30 points, 17 assists and 10 rebounds. She is second in NCAA women's history in triple-doubles, behind the 26 that Sabrina Ionescu, currently with the New York Liberty, had from 2016 to 2020.

Caitlin scored or assisted on 68 of Iowa's 105 points Sunday. She is the only women's player to have 3 triple-doubles of 30 or more points in Division I history. She was 9-of-17 from the field, including 5 of 11 from behind the arc, and 7-of-8 from the foul line.

Clark now has 2,526 points, reaching the mark in 94 games (26.9 ppg), tying her with Elena Delle Donne as the fastest women's or men's Division I player to hit 2,500 points in the last 20 seasons.

Clark is also the only player in women's or men's basketball over the last 20 seasons to have at least 25 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds in a game, and she's done it twice, both this season.

I've almost lost interest in men's basketball. I lived in Chicago for during MJ's years and there are a lot of similarities. Caitlin has more impact since her talent level is higher than college players. Her difference, other than ungodly shooting is court presence. The Ohio State coach said she can observe and react better than any college player male or female he has ever seen.

Caitlin plays/sees/reacts at a faster rate and speed. Which makes her a phenom. A generational player as several coaches have described.

Seriously funny that a couple of people had to throw in Nika Muhl as "just as good". Really? does she also score damn near 30pts a game, (for three straight years), while being the focus of every defense. So would the average casual fan have any idea who she was without googling her? The amount of butt hurt from other fans over the recognition CC is getting (rightfully so) is pretty funny...
For the interested 2022/2023 stats 7.3 pts, and 7.8 assit/game for a player surrounded by Macdonalds AA's. So in summation Clark averages .5 more assists and TWENTY points per game more while also leading Iowa and 6th in the league in rebounding. Yea, same player.....

No one is close in aggregate. I read today she leads the nation in 3 pointers made, averaging 26 ft. 1 inch, with a long of 33 foot. Insane. Everyone loves the excitement of the downtown shot, and combined with the 3/4 length court pin point pass that no other player in the country can make is filling arenas and putting Iowa women's basketball on national TV.

Sunday's game is on national TV, again (ABC).

Clark is sitting at 890 points this season after the SE Louisiana game, 111 points behind Gustafson’s single season record of 1001 (fourth NCAA all-time). If Iowa makes it to the championship game this year, she would almost certainly top 1000. Give Clark four more games into the Final Four, and she will be close. I am sure that she (and me) would prefer making it further as a team than breaking any personal records, but why not both? Only 22 women in the NCAA have scored over 900 points in a single season, make that 23 after Sunday’s game.

• Gustafson’s 2804 career points puts her at #25 on the all-time NCAA list.
• Clark is currently at 2552 career points.

Villanova's Maddy Siegrist broke the 1000 point mark for her season today.

The Hawks next game in Seattle will be the 35th this season, so it seems like they would to have similar post season success next year in both the Big10 tourny and NCAAs.

I believe Clark may have a higher scoring average next year but fewer assists without Czinano to receive Clark’s passes and then scoring. This is my fairly unfounded opinion, and I will stand behind it until proven wrong, then I will deny having said it.

I think that's a fair prediction. I'm very curious to see how our system is tweaked with a new starting front court. I love Czinano to death, but unlike her, Stuelke has a very nice power dribble so is more of a threat to score without a perfectly placed pass.

Then think how prolific she can be with perfectly placed passes!

Niki Muhl is pretty cute but she would be on the bench behind CC. Great passer but not the scorer or rebounder. Not sure how she would react if she got the defensive attention CC does. Would be nice to have her at Iowa though!

Her passing is something else. My goodness.

I don't watch much basketball anymore but did back in the day. Gosh I miss Jordan. lol

So I'm no expert at all.

However, I keep telling my boys that she's the best passer I've ever seen, or at least can remember.

Simply amazing.
