Caitlin ends her Iowa Career with 3,951 Points (NCAA & All-Time "Large School" Record). Megan Gustafson finished at 2,804

@Randon , I saw in another thread where you discussed CC breaking the all-time NCAA scoring record. You wrote that you believed the current record was around 3,527 points (which it is) and that she needed approximately 811 points to break the record (exactly what she needs).

You suggested she could break the record if she plays in 32 games next year, averaging 25.4 ppg.

Here was my April 3, end of season update, showing Caitlin probably only needs 30 games and her new projected career points total is 3,635.

Year: Points Scored
2021: 799 (30 games).................26.6 ppg
2022: 863 (32 games)..................27.0 ppg
2023: 1,055 (38 games)...............27.8 ppg
........................................................
2,717 Total Points so far.............27.2 ppg Career Ave (100 Games)
3,527 NCAA Record
........................................................
811 Points needed to Break the record

Looks like she needs 30 games to do it
(27 ppg x 30 games = 810)

NOTE: during the 2022-2023 season (38 games) we played 29 reg season games, 3 B1G tourney games, and 6 NCAA tourney games to get to our final 31-7 record. Next season we should expect around 34 games (29 reg season games plus HOPEFULLY AT LEAST 2 B1G tourney games and 3 NCAA tourney games).

New 4 year Points Projection:
2,717 current points
918 projected pts for 2023-2024 (34 games x 27ppg)
..........................................
3,635 Projected Points by end of next season (new NCAA record)

For GOAT Reference:

2,804 Career Points, MEGAN GUSTAFSON (#25 in NCAA History)

...........20.8 ppg, 2015-2019, 135 GP

I only know so much to be dangerous. ;) maybe a better techie on here than me can be more clear....
Yeah I don’t have any idea how to put that on an iPhone

Someone should set up a Caitlin Clark drive to 811/951 web page, similar to "Drive to 325". 811 points in 34 games and as a bonus, 951 points in 38 games and Big Ten regular season, tournament and NCAA triple championships.

2,745 current points

60 pts needed to pass Megan's 2,804

783 pts needed to break the NCAA record of 3,527.
-----> Looks like she needs 29 more games to do it (27 ppg x 29 games = 783).

She also has a slim chance of finishing anywhere from third to fifth in all time NCAA women's assists if she averages about the same as last year with good tourney runs. Sixth at least should be a piece of cake if she doesn't get injured and miss games.

Yet another player was named most outstanding player:rolleyes:
Ya, I can understand going with the player whose team won if stats are somewhat similar but Clark did things never seen in the men’s or women’s tourney. Everyone knows she was clearly the most outstanding player anyway so it really didn’t mean much when they announced it was Reese.

Can we vote for her for POTUS?
She is an incredible player and appears to be a wonderful person. Caitlyn will be a success no matter what she decides to do (after basketball of course).

The Caitlin Countdown:

2,789 current career points.

Milestones:

(1) 16 pts needed to pass Megan's 2,804

(2) 739 pts needed to break the NCAA record of 3,527 (Kelsey Plum, University of Washington).
-----> Looks like she needs 27 more games to do it (27 ppg x 27 games = 729).

(3) 861 pts needed to break the AIAW record of 3,649 (Lynette Woodard, Kansas University; the AIAW was pre-NCAA)
-----> Looks like she needs 32 more games to do it (27 ppg x 32 games = 864).

Iowa is 2-0 with a projected 32 more games to go. 4 year Points Projection:
2,717 points to start the season

3,649 Career Points, Lynette Woodard (has the AIAW record, which was pre-NCAA; in 4 years and 139 games played at Kansas from 1978-1981, she was a 4 time All-American and averaged 26.3 points per game; she probably should be considered the all time D1 and D1 equivalent scoring leader).

I thought Clark had 2789 going into this game chasing 2804 by Gustafson?

Oops. I was looking at the Hawkeye site that updated her stats immediately.

She would be better than all of the current options on both sides including the incumbent.
She has ethics.
Which none of the above have.

The ESPN stats department seems highly motivated to pump out as much Caitlin Clark material as possible. Surprising for an entity biased against Iowa/the Big Ten, at least according to what I read on Hawkeye sites.
There is no way they could not put material out about her. She is the most exciting player in the country and the backlash would be incredible if they didn't put stuff out. She is the reason there are so many fans watching.

Clicks motivate the content. It’s a no brainer.

At the 5:51 mark of the 3rd quarter, Caitlin becomes Iowa's all time leading scorer, extending Iowa's lead over UNI to 55-33.
