Congrats to Iowa State

This is my whole point, Iowa isn't on the same level as 4-5 other teams in the Big 10 and never will be. How would we ever consistently be in the top 4 in the new Big 10 to play in the post-season? Just look at the schedule next year, Vegas will likely have our win total around 6. That is the new reality - but hey, at least we're getting more TV money.
You know what great marketing is for your organization? Actually being paid handsomely by those doing the work for you, rather than pay those folks to do the work. It’s called leverage, power, and money.

And there is no way an organization like the B1G, nor its members, are going to squander that position. IOWA is in the B1G, and it’s B1Gger than foosball Bobby Boucher.

You know, that is interesting. I was listening to the local radio last Wednesday and an ISU caller was talking about how he wanted Iowa to beat Nebby badly. I was surprised honestly. He was saying how he actually rooted for Iowa outside of the ISU game in every game. He especially hates Nebraska, which I understood. You guys have had to deal with them too obviously.

You really don't hear that kind of mutual thinking that much from our side now that I think about it. I mean in real life and not on here. I can't recall honestly ever hearing a Hawk fan say they root for ISU. Hmm.

To be fair, you guys definitely have your fair share of assholes too though, as we all do.
There is some truth to this. As an IOWA alumus, B1G snob, and Iowa native son, I cheer for Iowa State, with the exception of when they play IOWA. Why? Because overwhelmingly they are good schools, with good people, and the majority of fans have humility, are fun, realistic, and generally not ridiculous.

I hope State wins and goes to the CFP. Hell, I’d be happy for them to win it all. It’s why they play the games.

Well, I'm certainly no genius, but with all due respect, and my apologies, it doesn't read as such:
The question was asked who has an advantage over in Iowa in football, all things considered. Nebraska has a great history but it’s haunting the program now. The big advantage it has over Iowa is its NIL program. Although exact numbers are hard to find Nebraska is near the top ten in NIL money in the country. So yes, that is a huge advantage over Iowa at the moment. But yet they still lose time and time again to us.

There isn’t a single team in their dogs!t conference that has even a remote chance to win it all. I’ll take being in a real conference every day & twice on Sunday.

What do you get out of being in a conference where a team that isn't yours might win it all?

To MAY to........To MAW to. You get beat at home, that's your ass getting kicked IMHO. You can call it whatever you'd like.
So what is it when the Hawks win in lames by 10 points and the clowns were never really in the game?

Must ignore? Or does your criteria only apply to when the clowns were never win?

Quite a bit actually. When the Big Ten does well it increases the overall worth of the conference which translates to increased revenue for Iowa. Or maybe the massive difference in TV contracts between the Big Ten and leftover league is just because the networks want to be nice to the Big Ten.

Big10 has 4 top ten teams right now & SEC has 3….so pretty equal at the top this year.

How many Lil12 teams in top 10? 🤣 🤡
Four top ten teams (Indiana’s schedule ranks 106, played one team and got smoked). Absolutely nobody of any substance behind those three + Indiana. Need I remind that Iowa has been our scores 127-7 in its last four top 20 contests? The 7 came late in Q4 while down 35-0 vs what turns out to be a very beatable Ohio State. It’s a joke to compare any conference to the SEC.

How many in-conference games do the SEC teams play?

So, no correlation or benefit to the Iowa football program winning... Just more money? That's not what I want, I want meaningful games in the postseason.

Congrats to the Iowa State Cyclones on winning ten games, getting good quarterback play, being co-conference regular season champions, and possibly playing in the Big 12 title game! What a special season.
Nice post by the OP. Congrats to ISU.

I live out of state ... so it's hard for my "hate" for state to burn too hot.

Thanks, and congrats on your 5th place finish playing one ranked team with nearly your entire team coming back! Will probably be your best showing for decades to come - #special season.

Over the next 20 years, Iowa will never make the conference championship, as most teams in the Big 10 won't. When you have PSU, OSU, UM, Oregon at the top, the rest of your conference is pretty much screwed. It will be rare that the championship teams will not be in that group.
Over the next 3 years the BIG and SEC will go 24 teams and we will have another subdivision of college football, where the P2 teams Will be swimming in cash and have huge payrolls. Guess what little clown team won't be part of that. In just a few short years your little conference won't have a seat at the big boy table.

Why not? Ll

ISU is going to beat an overrated ASU team missing one of its best players and make the playoff, giving their program a recruiting bump over Iowa. They will be in a position to become perennial playoff contenders due to their joke conference. Worse, when they DO make the playoffs before Iowa, they will lord it over Hawk fans ad nauseum until the end of time.
The BIG and the SEC want the big 12 to die. In a few years there will be two 24 team conferences that will get a playoff spot. ISU won't be in either of those 2 conferences. It's just a matter of time.

Yeah, that...and we'll still have a team to root for at the end of the decade. We won't win a title most likely but at least we'll have a team on TV to watch and will still be in the playoffs format.

You Cyclone fans seem perpetually short-sighted. Have you already forgotten the desperation you felt the last two go arounds? Nothing has changed except the inevitable inching closer. The next realignment is likely the final nail. No more playoffs for you. No more viewers. No more TV. Sucks but it is what it is.

Not bragging either. I don't like where it's all gone. Just saying what is on the way. So yeah, celebrate and be jovial about the conference championship. You're still on the brink. Be merry for there is no tomorrow...
Who knows what the future will bring? Iowa State is happy where we are today. I believe Iowa would say the same.

Maybe Iowa State will have trouble keeping up with the much better funded Big Ten and SEC teams. But what if the bluebloods in the Big Ten get tired of subsidizing the rest of the league? Maybe they don't drop teams from the league or even form a new power league. But it would not surprise me at all that they demand a bigger cut of the pie. I've heard that out of a couple other conferences already. One no longer exists and the other has teams that want out. Don't underestimate what Texas may do when they get a foothold in the SEC. The good-ole-boys in that league may not find their new friend so friendly. It wouldn't be anything we haven't seen multiple times before.

They won't. Even the NFL needs some lower teams. You have to have some numbers to keep things interesting.

ISU fans in southwest Iowa have a fair amount of dislike for Nebraska. The Omaha stations are all-in for the Huskers and it gets really old. For ISU fans in Cedar Rapids, the local media is pro-Iowa with almost nothing about Nebraska. So there is little animosity toward Nebraska now that they are out of their league. They may get some entertainment about seeing them struggle though when they play Iowa. Hard not to.

I'm not worried about the B1G at all honestly. You do have a point about Texas considering their history but the SEC won't play around. If anything, the jumps would be from the SEC to the B1G and vice-versa. I doubt much, if any, of that happens but you never know. None of can predict this entirely for sure.
