Day 3: Finals Matches for Saturday 10:00 AM

Midlands will tell us more.
Gunther needs to get some offense he had all close matches last year.
This could come out like Ramos and T. Clark always a close match but went with Ramos because of his ability to score more.

I think people have him pegged right. He’s somewhere around 12-16th at the weight. Young is right there too. Neither is an AA. Lots of people thought Young was at an AA level.
I was hoping for Young with a clear victory, thereby indicating we had significantly more power at that weight than last year. But . . . no.

I suppose we can always hope Gunther significantly improved over last year.

Not at all trying to be an arse, but I don't see the value of having Perez in the room. Granted, I'm sure he would still crush me and I have 100 pounds on him, but Iowa's not the place to just 'be.'

What is the point of this comment? I have a ton of respect for guys like Perez who are not going to see time as a starter unless someone gets injured. He shows up and puts in the work anyway. He's not seeking glory. He's doing it for the love of the sport and to push himself to become better at something.

"Not at all trying to be an arse" but you come off as an arse.

Not surprised. People on this board have been highly overrating Young.

Nah...it was a Gunther like match. No offense. No shooting. Young finally shot and Gunther scores off of it in OT. Gunther has great defense and tough to get through but Young will score more points.

This is why refs need to call double stalls and start opening matches up.

If the only guys you let in the room were AA types you’d have a pretty empty room. Tackling dummies/room guys are required.

As long as the tackling dummies are not getting fractions of schollys, the more the merrier.

We don’t disagree. Young has more offense than Gunther. But, that doesn’t mean he’s an AA threat.

I would actually be pleased with this. But when Gunther wasn’t at that level last year. I’m not sure they are there...yet.

125 & 133: We're in better shape than we thought, but enough to score points?

141: Happel needs to go down to 133 or improve a hell of a lot or he's going to end his career as a 3rd string 41 pounder.

149: 3 studs

157: Stud

165: Hope stud

174: 2 tough kids but I'm concerned they're both R12, which doesn't help us gain ground. See 141.

184: Come on Downey

197: Feeling great about Warner and okay about Wilcke

285: Can't tell much based on match with Costello, but good to see Stoll going live

Double stall is one of the worst calls ever. Hit one guy & 10-20 seconds later hit the other guy but please don't call double stall.

Just call stalls on whoever is stalling. If both are stalling, call both. Picking and choosing which one you want to call stalling on is the ref inserting himself into the outcome of a match.

The odds of both guys stalling is slim to none. Double stall is an easy out for an official who doesn't have the balls or brains to realize which guy is stalling & make the call. Double stalls are for dudes who are ok with ties & kissing their sister.
