I'll give yout this - nicolls said that's even from here on out. That we win a championship every other year or so. It's obvious Tom is going to be given that chance. and as a Hawk fan - I hope he's freaking right. I hope that TnT get it together and make that true. I'll be the first to admit I was wrong and be a true believer all over again.
But if not? in 4 years, if we don't have 2 titles? Will even the biggest Brands fans finally admit a change is necessary?

Gobblin. You still drunk? Those are 4 sentences that make no coherent sense. So I guess I'll say it plainly. At this point, anyone who can say that they BOTH want Iowa to be the dominate program and that Tom is the one to lead us there - is insane. Certifiably, straight jacket insane.

Firing brands is pure silliness. Anyone with eyes can see the obvious improvement in Lugo, ADS, Eiermann, and Woods after coming to the program. They’ve admitted mistakes made in previous years and are working to fix them. Would a new face in the upper weight coaching department be nice and welcomed? I think that most would agree, yes. But we’re not in a spot where we need to tear this down to the studs and start fresh.
Compare iowa to PSU in terms of athleticism, we’re at a distinct disadvantage in numerous weights. It’s a testament to TNTs coaching that Cass beat Kerk numerous times.
I do think their could be an improvement in the scrambling department, some of our guys look very uncomfortable in certain situations and I think that slows The amount of attacks some of our guys take.
PSU has shown that they are comfortable in any position and that’s why they win close matches a lot more than most.

Ok. You def have a mental handicap. I apologize for engaging. I have a soft spot in my heart for people like you as I grew up with mentally retarded neighbor kid. Always looked out and stuck up for him.
DT would require a year, but yes. You would again be certifiable if you didn't give him the job when he walked off the podium after Paris. But that's also a year away.
Hire Casey. That's as simple as needs to be said. When that happens, he'll splinter the RTC, bringing in some of those guys. And having coached under/with Cael - you may not get the same exact magic - but you're getting the program run in the same manner. No more lack of development, no more Hawks faltering at the end of the season.
I think the worry is that Iowa doesn’t appear to be willing to adapt and change. I love Brands, but the inability to develop upperweights, the injuries, and the let downs at nationals…. What’s Brands going to do to make sure those things improve because they haven’t for the last 10 years.

You’re simply not going to find a better coach unless you offer Cael and Co an ungodly amount of money…. And even then it likely wouldn’t be enough to get him to leave state college. It’s laughable that you can’t wrap your brain around that fact.

And failed at the youth club coaching level as well. There's a reason borschel doesn't coach- it's because he's an odd duck. Not saying he's a bad guy just had a very unique personality that doesn't lend to coaching

For me it starts with recruiting…. And we’re already addressing that pretty damn well for the near future…. With one or 2 more fantastic recruits to still join. Not to mention what I’ve heard about a certain transfer that will have you fire Brands guys creaming you panties if it comes to fruition.
Only problem is, what will you have to bitch and moan about?? You guys are radio silent when there’s good news or reason for excitement. You only show up cry like spoiled brats each March when we finish 2nd to PSU. Even when they’re the clear favorites. Sick in the head type behavior.

Tom is probably the 2nd best coach in the country, but at the same time, the same issues have been a problem for the last decade and you think those will go away how?

I don’t think any fan would say there aren’t improvements to be made, but they don’t happen overnight.
Go back through Mr. Arnold’s messages about Gabe’s recruitment and his thoughts on our coaches/program. That’s what/who you should be listening to.
A broader recruiting landscape. You think we go hard after Angelo 3-4 years ago?? The proof is before your eyes. Do I need to send a note in crayon???
You haven’t the slightest clue what the staff is doing.
None of what you are saying has addressed why our upperweights don’t get better, injuries are a huge problem, and we don’t peak at nationals. You just don’t think those things can be fixed? Not even worth trying?
Max, Nelson, Warner and Cass are all in the consi semis. Did you expect Max to beat Yianni(he did), Nelson to beat Lewis? Cass to beat Parris? There’s a thing called parity that has really ramped up the last 10 years or so.
And do you blame the injuries on the staff?? ZERO of our injuries the last few years have anything at all to do with our training
or philosophy. The vast majority have happened during competition. Some of you would be shocked how laid back our training has become. Every single guy on the team has plenty of freedom and each train differently.
Being a great wrestler does not mean you will automatically be a great recruiter or coach. Too many assume that.

Will be an interesting match at 125 for the championship.
OK let’s put it this way. If you were the AD, what conversation would you have with the wrestling staff next week regarding its current and past performance? Would it be one of accolades? Anxiously awaiting.

The answer right now is somewhere between fire TNT and all is good. I do think they are very good coaches, they care about their guys, they know what they are doing. But they can also do better. They will get the chance to do that like it or not. I'm hoping they open their minds to the things that need fixing and do it. It starts with recruiting. We need some new blood in the practice room to coach as well. I remember when Frayer was in the room it was quite noticable some of the techniques he had added. When we have high end athletic wrestlers (Woods, Healthy Spencer, Nelson wasn't a high end recruit but he is strong and athletic) they show they can do well.
We were big underdogs going into this because they have better athletes at too many weights. Nobody should be disappointed we got second at this tournament. They should be disappointed it was a foregone conclusion that was the case when the season started and the reason it was a forgone conclusion is we had too many weights with guys who flat out are not contenders. It doesn't mean they aren't great guys, it doesn't mean they don't work their asses off but sometimes people have limits in ability.

I wouldn’t. I’d say we had some tough breaks but I’m happy with the way the guys fought and ask if I could help out with anything Tom thinks he may need…Then I’d put the trophy in case and await the next season.
My biggest issue going forward, is in this great recruiting class coming in, the top two ranked guys may never see varsity matches.
I don't think we can consider Jesuroga as part of the class anymore by the sound of it.
I deal in reality. I’ve been plenty critical of some of Tom’s decisions over the years. This just isn’t it. I’ve got 3 complete hard ons arguing an idiotic idea that somehow think there’s only 2 teams in D1 wrestling…. Yeah, I feel like a real loser here. 😆
