Spencer Lee loses the in semis… and the world is ending…. Iowa in 2nd place and some say fire the coach? Maybe a bit emotional and not logical? But, solid performances from the others, including Nelson, Murin, Warner. Woods yet to compete in final… The difference is, Cael is a great coach, has a great staff.., TNT are also great, but different. The issue is look at the funding PSU has. They are paying guys like Dake, Taylor, Snyder, Gilman, Retheford, Nolf etc. to train there. If Iowa had that much money at HWC things may be different. With that said, the Iowa program can improve. I would not be disappointed if some changes were made down the hierarchy from TNT. But, an easy start would be to invest in wrestler/coaches at the RTC level…
Gilman, Jay, Brent, and DSJ…. Plenty of backstories there and enough blame to spread to both sides. And I really do think the Gilman rift is as bad most want to believe. Very fair question though.
This is suggesting that Jay, or anyone else, criticizing the program must respect Tom. Those things aren’t mutually exclusive and I don’t see Jay suggesting he is coming from a pro-regime place.
It’s not really my opinion. It is the opinion of a few of his former teammates though.

PSU and Iowa aren't even a conversation at this point and in the future at the current pace. Would you agree or no?
Yes. I’d say we’re stagnant. Clear 2nd best program in the country.
I’ve already covered this. Recruiting philosophy…. And it’s already been addressed and will continue to be. I’d also like to get Nolf in the HWC.

But is the Iowa program doing that? Is this just a wish? Outside of hiring Dake and Taylor what REALISTIC thing can be accomplished?

Jay spent a career in that room. He has that right, imo.
Any personal worth Gobblin has comes from being an insider in the Brands crew and he also serves as the spokesman for the group of insiders that call him from Tulsa. He has a lot to lose with a regime change so he’s a bit biased.
Just because you may have a right to do something, doesn't mean that you should. Whether he's right or wrong, imo, this is an example of poor judgement.
Im. Ot sure you can argue that the Hawks are the clear 2nd best program… especially when 1st place finished 40 pts ahead and 3rd is a few point back.
More than anything Iowa has been snakebit with injuries and other things outside their control. Iowa was winning the natty in 2020 and that would’ve made back to back.
They definitely need to bring in someone more accomplished for the upper weights.
