Fran hates Toussaint! Told you

Ok, have a good day. It’s sad when Iowa fans can’t acknowledge a decent day by one of its players. Not a great or spectacular day. But a day where it was obvious that effort was given and, for once, wasn’t a detriment on the defensive end of the floor.
Well, good job today jbo! When we play a team with a pulse and he plays 30+ min’s and contributes nothing, can I bitch then? Cause that’s what we’ve seen pretty much the whole season. But hey, a decent performance against a bottom feeder is definitely worth a pat on the back. We’re going nowhere with him playing the minutes he has been

This too. You don’t sub a guy in/out just for the sake of doing so. Iowa went on like a 19-4 run. Stick with what works until it doesn’t.
The point I'm trying to make is he shouldn't have to have been subbed, he should've started over Ulis. According to Fran, "he has the keys," so why is Ulis coming in before him? Why isn't he playing the whole second half?

Winning doesn’t matter, apparently. Locking down an opponent to the tune of 21 second half points doesn’t matter. They must have it done their way or they’ll kick and flail like a toddler.
Would've been even less if toussaint played. He leads the team in steals, but for some reason our starting point guard didn't play the whole second half. What happened to Fran's, "loyalty?"

Fran and the coaches made some adjustments today and the team responded with a win. These were not the changes that some wanted to see so they still rip Fran. I do not care who plays as long as the team wins.

what's going on with Joe is puzzling but again, we have no idea what's going on internally

And people can rip Fran, but frankly, he does not give a damn

And he is never going to air laundry or throw a player under the bus

Why do you want to bitch? Are you not capable of being happy after a win?

It’s baffling. IMO, Joe is the second or third best player on the team. I’d really like someone to ask Fran what Joe needs to do to see more court time.

Joe may be the fourth best player on the team. Keegan, Kris and Patrick would be the three best players. I would like to know why he did not play more, but the players who did play helped pull out a win.

Have we beat a team with a pulse yet this year? Still no q1 victories im aware of…? Id love not to bitch, but this team will go absolutely nowhere with him playing 30+mpg 🤷‍♂️

Would you be happier if Iowa lost today? Minnesota was on Iowa’s schedule today. Iowa could not substitute another team you would might have approved.

It’s absolutely true when the team is on an extended run. Otherwise, the rotations are a mess. A hodgepodge that seems like some sort of dart throwing party game.
I guess I recall some of Fran’s substitution patterns differently. I’m not saying that hasn’t happened when the team is on extended runs, but I’ve also seen too many players get pulled when heating up or providing a spark off the bench. In turn, I’ve seen too many union-card carriers remain in the game despite poor defensive effort and atrocious shooting.

I may not know much, but I sure as hell know what the numbers, and my eyes, tell me about JBo. It looks from waaaaaaay over here that Joe T is being measured by one standard and everyone else, especially JBo, by a totally different one. Joe's been starting all year, so what suddenly happened that he didn't start today?

And why is Kris Murray still on the bench when the game begins?

Fran owes the fans an explanation about what the hell is going on with Joe T. After all, the fans are the ones who've made Fran a millionaire despite his middling success in Iowa City. Just my uninformed opinion, of course. LOL
only coaches know about playing time but could be that Mn has big guards and have a distinct advantage based on Joe’s size. Joe made some exceptionally good hustle plays but did get scored on as he could not really contest their guards shots.

Right, hence the last part of my statement. Overall, Iowa would be better off playing their best 8 and rolling the dice. It helped not having to navigate Connor’s presence today. Sandfort was able to pick up some very productive minutes today.

From the little I’ve seen of Sandfort, I think he has a bright future.

I think the bottom line is point guard play has always been mediocre under Fran. That’s probably been his biggest bugaboo, which has held back some of his more talented teams from being truly elite. It’s really unfortunate he’s never landed a Andre Woolridge or Dean Oliver type PG. Had he, it’s a pretty safe bet conversations today wouldn’t revolve around substitution patterns and how unfortunate it is that a mediocre PG by P5 standards in Joe Touissant isn’t getting more PT.

Joe seemed actively involved on the bench and provided a lot of energy on the court. Don't understand the playing time for JBO and not for Joe. I have also posted about this before, JBO was not supposed to play pg this season and take minutes from the 2 backups but it's happening more and more, strange indeed.

Don't understand that, he did a good job in the first half on the defensive side of play, I would've thought he earned some minutes in the second have. Disappointed there were no one complaining that "Josh O" didn't get any playing time.
I'm also disappointed that Fran swung and missed on his 2 recruited centers that they can't even get any spot minutes against the lower half of the Big Ten. God they both must be just plain awful in practice!

doesn’t really have anything to do with mn. It’s to do with any postseason success this team will have, which is none with bohannon playing that many minutes. Maybe we can’t beat good teams with the other guys getting significant minutes, but we already know we can’t with him getting 30+

Jordan is a 2 in a 1’s body. Unfortunately the only way he gets up shots is when he runs the point. I was hoping that he’d move on prior to him coming back in order for the younger guards to develop.

Now that he’s here, the choice is to allow him to play the 1, at least some minutes, or to allow him to flounder at the 2. Fran’s not going to sit him.

Ulis, Perkins, and Joe T are incomplete players as well. Much better on the defensive end but Iowa sacrifices offense when they’re in.

Here’s what would help immensely. Play Murray/Murray at least 30 minutes/game. Pat is coming on strong so he deserves at least 25. The other positions on the floor, although not optimal, need to be figured out on a game to game basis.

To Joe’s credit, he’s one of the biggest cheerleaders on the bench regardless of circumstance… a real team player. His lack of minutes was a head scratcher today, but I will say that Ulis played a solid game. If he could get that mid range jumper/floater to fall with more consistency, he’d be deadly

Well said. But I still think joe brings more on O than jbo. Between assists and points. Especially if you take out the free ft’s at end of games.

Connor was heavily involved , along with game notes on paper. I bet you can't guess who was communicating through Connor. I am not saying its wrong, just saying Fran is not gonna take a game off.

That s sounds a spectacular way to run a team

You guys do realize that Fran is not on the bench for this game, right? Do you think he told Billy Taylor to keep Joe on the bench in this game or is calling Billy during the game?

Yes, I think Fran discussed with Billy what lineup to start the game and that did not include JoeT. Last game it was Ulis all of OT. Fran doesn't like JoeT, I think Billy can figure that out.

6 minutes and 2 steals and assist for JoeT is not fair compared to JBO 36 min. Not like JBO 2/7 was tearing it up.

I don’t disagree with this, in fact I think that’s the reason Joe gets pulled when he’s getting posted up. It happens to other players too but those are coaching decisions. Is Jordan that much better at not getting posted up ?

So, how many pt guards are posting Joe up? In a normal flow of the game does it happen more than once or twice a game? The answer is no. And Bohannon has been and will continue to be our weakest link on defense. And he’s shooting 25% from the field in the league. Now some of you are just looking for things. It’s not a thing.

JBO played a good game today but he's a back up now and should sit behind the other 2. Late game sub for free throws and attempts at late game comebacks.
