Apparently Fran has been hired by his Alma Mater, Penn ! Penn has a rich basketball history and Fran of course played there. Good for him. !

I'm happy for him, that should be a great fit. What coach wouldn't want to close out their career coaching at their alma mater? I bet he tears it up. Especially if Jack joins him, which I expect.
He will have a large player pool around that area to draw from. Good for him.

If there's not a mitigation clause regarding the buyout if he were to get another job, it's probably the only one in existence in major college sports.
(Of course, Barta is the one responsible for this mess, so who knows...)

I’m just going by what someone on this site posted that said there was no mitigation clause in his contract. Maybe because of his age ? Anyway, I’m glad it worked out for Fran.

Nah. Fran has reached his absolute peak - Some mid-major titles, no B1G titles & 1 B1G tourney championship in 15 seasons and zero Sweet 16 appearances in 29 seasons of Div 1 coaching. He is who he is.

Good for Fran! Let’s not ever forget he did A LOT for IA. But 15 years is an exceptionally LONG time to be a coach anywhere these days. Prolly stayed a few years too long.

I thought it reduces the total by the amount he's paid by the new school, or is he working for free?????
I viewed his contract after he was fired. It explicitly states if fired without cause, his buyout is NOT reduced by new employment.
