Gruden OUT

1. This wasn't an investigation into Gruden so how can these emails be used against him?
2. Why is anything he said about Biden or Obama even being mentioned? What does that have to do with anything? Will all the bad things many coaches and players have certainly said about Donald Trump be made to seen as "shameful" by the media?
3. We're no longer allowed to criticize females?
4. I think the worst of what he said was about queers, but nothing he said should be a fireable offense. This is getting to be ridiculous.
5. NFL is going down a very slippery slope because I guarantee every single coach, assistant coach, trainer, and NFL owner would be losing their jobs if every single private text, telephone conversation, email, or other form of communication they've had over the last 10 years could be seen and scrutinized.

This is ridiculous and I stand by the first celebrity who refuses to apologize for this. Double down and say he does have lips like Michelin tires and say I don't care if that hurts his feelings and double down on everything else he's said and don't apologize for it. That would be a breath of fresh air and many in this country who are sick of the cancel, self-righteous culture, while they might not agree with what was said in the emails, would appreciate the refusal to bow in front of the mob.

1. Just like the FBI can re-open an investigation into Clinton while investigating Anthony Weiner. If during the course of an investigation of someone else something incriminating about you comes up, you are going down too.

2. Probably just to mostly confirm our suspicions on his political views.

3. Depends on how you criticize them and what for. Pretty much the same with anyone.

4. It's funny how you a white straight male don't find anything offensive about it when pretty much the only group he didn't insult was white straight males.

5. It's worth noting that this was sent with his work E-mail while he worked at ESPN. These were not sent from Gruden's personal E-mail account to Allen's personal E-mail account.

If for nothing else he should be let go for being that freaking unprofessional.

BINGO^^^^^

F sensitivity.

I should be dead. God people are soft.

Yeah I don't buy that in the least. 90% of the time that's something people say when they arn't the ones being insulted but feel they are owed the right to insult other people without consequences.

Mike Huckabee said the same shit that you were saying about his show. Than someone insulted his daughter's eyeshadow and suddenly he got all offended.

Mike would probably take a swing at me...I think his daughter is UGLY!

The Clinton investigation was a matter of national security and possibly breaking the law. Making fun of big lips, women as referees, queers in football, Biden/Obama, etc. is not breaking the law or a matter of national security.

Again, NFL going down very slipper slope.

I have been called about everything on here.

And Gruden isn't being criminally punished either.

If a co-worker of mine is being investigated by the company for embezzlement and in the course of their investigation they discover that I like to send him porn photos over work E-mail . . . I'm probably getting fired too. Shoot it doesn't even have to be that. If I sent him E-mails insulting the boss. . . I'm probably getting canned.

The slippery slope here is holding NFL coaches accountable to be professionals and decent human beings. I'm ok with that slippery slope.

It doesnt care if they are good human beings. Give me a break. They just dont want them to be stupid in email.

Not really, most people don’t do this.
Maybe not against blacks, gays, or women, but when we throw other groups into the mix such as Christians, Muslims, Jews, Asians, straight white men, Democrats/Republicans, trans people, fat people, rich people, poor people, etc. into the mix, basically, any group of people that can be made out to be a victim.... Every single person does something bad or says something bad about someone else in a 10 year time frame.

You're so perfect though I bet, ironside1. You set the bar.

So he shouldn’t of been fired because you think everyone does it?

No I think it's mostly just people like you.

See I think homosexual acts are sinful but yet I don't call gay people the F-word

I have issues with feminism but I don't call the leaders of that movement the b-word or the s-word.

I don't do those things because it's unnecessarily intentionally offensive and I don't think one should be unnecessarily intentionally offensive. You can have convictions and those convictions might offend some people but you can also hold to those convictions without being unnecessarily offensive.

The other thing is that name calling of that style which has no substance contributes nothing and is quite frankly classless.

There are a lot of people like me....I see them daily...not friends...just the general public.

It's a private conversation, bruh. He's not name calling in public. You never name call when talking to friends. You people think you're so perfect and many of you are some of the worst out there.

Really a good pro football coach...but one of the dumbest phuques walking on the face of this earth.
Meh..he won a Super Bowl with Dungy’s players and the blowout was due to the fact that Bill Callahan never changed the verbiage. He has a .500 record.

And most of those people also seem to get upset when they or their groups are insulted.

Christians often get upset when their religion is mocked or denigrated. And sometimes rightly so quite frankly. (And sometimes they get upset over stupid stuff like "happy holidays")

The Republicans got upset when Kathy Griffin did that head thing with Trump.

Very few people are really ok with it when public figures do stuff that insults them and their lives.

I am pretty used to the 'White Man Bad' narrative at this point. I would not say offended at this point.

I don't think many people are getting fired for those things though, and CNN certainly isn't jumping in to make a big deal out of those things. Kathy Griffin posed with the cut off head of the President of the United States, that's a big different than making fun of lips or women or gay people. Not on the same level in my book.

Making fun of lips, women, gays is the same level as making fun of Christians or mocking Christians or other religions. Both are fine and nothing you should be fired for. Especially if the intent of the message was a private message.

I’m definitely figuring out how you don’t think there is systemic racism in this country though.
There's systematic everything in this county. The biggest one is the people who do the systematic things that produce success, day in and day out, have a higher likelihood to become winners. And those who don't, have a higher likelihood to not win. And the people who don't win tend to try to find excuses and blame others for their lack of winning.

A private conversation held over work E-mails. Which is to say it's not private at all.

I don't claim to be perfect, but I do think there should be consequences for what Gruden did. And I don't think he should represent the NFL after that.

The other issue is I try to be pretty careful about name calling and I try to decide if I am going to call someone a name if that actually contributes to the conversation or not. And I try although I am sure I fail at times to get my point across in the least offensive manner possible. For example I used to refer to Roman Catholic's as "Papists" however I analysed that I could refer to them as Roman Catholics and still hold my conviction that I am in fact "Catholic" (as in universal church). Hence the reason I refer to them as Roman Catholics and not just catholics. Because I am catholic but not Roman Catholic.

You behave unprofessionally, be prepared to lose your job if you can’t adequately defend yourself. This wasn’t a one-off. It was a part of years long pattern. You would have a better point if this was from just one comment.

Most people dont do this in email, but they most certainly do it.

I am reasonably sure I don’t use homophobic, racist or sexist slurs in any forum, or at least intentionally. I don’t pretend to be perfect, but I think it’s basic decency to do ones best to avoid using words or phrases that you know are generally considered offensive. I do the best I can to do this myself.

if someone hears me say something they would consider offensive, I hope they tell me. First so that I know to try to avoid that in the future, or two, to explain what I meant, in case they misunderstood what I said or took what I said out of context.

He was sharing topless pics of the Washington Cheerleaders that were taken from a hidden camera.

It would be an interesting social science study to evaluate the person's employment and income level with their views on whether Gruden's conduct warranted his resignation (dismissal).

I would say mine are 75% sexist...and a small mix in of the rest. I might take an off handed shot at the gays, but they dont matter in my day to day life much....so not really a big part of it. Women irritate me just by being.

I disagree, I don't think it's a great idea to be unnecessarily and intentionally offensive to anyone.

Part of the reason we no longer have a civil dialog in this country is because we've dropped that as being a virtue. Now it's a virtue to be as insulting as possible.
