**** Hawks @ Boilers Game Thread****

-27 from 3 in the first half. Never seen anything like it. That kind of disparity from 3 is impossible to result in anything but a blowout.

You give up 11 for 20 from 3pt line in a game, you are likely losing. You give that up in 1/2 of B-ball , that is Fran Ball at its worst. Need to be able to be able to play man defense and run guys off the 3pt line, you can't sit back in zone when you are getting shredded..

Look at Purdue defense...they shut down JoeW and Fredrick from 3. The guys they don't care about ...Connor, Pemsl, JoeT, Bakari could have their fill of 3pt shots.
Kriener hasn't made a 3pt shot in 3 or 4 games now.

Seriously, when are you not wrong?

The schedule doesn't matter. Iowas already beat plenty of good teams this year and they will continue to do so.

Bad games happen on the road. Msu got blown out here, Maryland got blown out at Iowa.

It's all irrelevant.

Iowa is a good team with a very good resume.

Iowa is getting in the tournament with no question about it.

Not if they lose out

Iowa was due for one of these. Purdue has had their number for years up there. It would be nice if Connor, Joe T, Evelyn and Pemsl would at least occasionally look at the basket but it is what it is. Not sure CJ has played a worse half this year. Might be a good game to pull the plug on the starters if there isn't a major surge early in the second half. Rest some legs and embrace the wood shed.

An amazing half time stat per ESPN's box score is that Garza has no rebounds. Does have 17 points, though.

Iowa was down 21 at half against Tennessee in the tourney. Came back and brought it to overtime in second half. Comeback is possible but need many breaks

Purdue would be a top 5 team if they were capable of playing like this regularly.

Unfortunately for them this will likely never happen again this year.

When poor shooters hit everything it looks really good.
And DePaul would be highly ranked, too, if they played every game like they played at Iowa.

This is incredible. One of those games where I just sit here and hope nobody gets hurt.

And I was going to drive over to the game before the snow started to look legit. Thank you snow!!

The most frustrating thing for me is the hawks get back in the hunt then have a game like this. How many times over thw last 10 years have the hawks been in the hunt only to whither down the home stretch?

Like I said, playing out of their mind. Every thing they’re throwing up is going in. It’s not just 3 pt shots either.
Purdue is crashing the offensive boards and having success. Iowa is trying to get out and run by leaking out and Purdue is making them pay. That would be why it feels like everything is going in. Even if they miss, they rebound and put it back. That is execution and hustle. You are right about the 3 ball though, Purdue is enfuego .......

Okay I see what's wrong.

Why in the f*** are we sagging back so much?

Are we so f***ing worried about taking away their inside game?

It's not like us getting caught too low is taking away their ability to drive, so I have no f***ing clue why they're so soft on defense tonight......

This. Don’t mind Purdue getting red hot from the three. That happens. But bothers me that we are failing at defensive rebounding.

Direct quote from announcer “he just put his shoulder directly into the chest of the defender.” Does that not constitute a foul? Yet no mention...
