How much time do you spend with your family?

My parents and siblings, not much anymore. We’ve kind of grown apart in the last 5 years or so. I do feel bad not spending much time with my mom.

You could always do a family group text if you're addicted to your phone like your boy.

It's an easy way to keep in touch.

Was just having this conversation that I spend more time/equal with co-workers on average per week, than my family.

1. Work
Weekly Work Hours:
A standard full-time job: 40 hours per week (8 hours/day, Monday-Friday).

2. Family Time
Evenings (Weekdays):
After work, assuming 2-4 hours of quality time per evening: 10-20 hours per week (Monday-Friday).

Weekends:
Assuming 6-10 hours/day of family time (activities, meals, etc.): 12-20 hours (Saturday-Sunday).

3. Sleep
Daily Sleep Hours:
Average adult needs 7-9 hours/night: 49-63 hours
per week.

In fact I just had to fly out for work on a Sunday afternoon for a SKO

That’s sad. No wonder you try to win them over with superficial vacations.

I think anyone that refers to something as quality time, it isn't.

Quality time is a term created to make oneself feel better about not spending enough time. I assume you just used this phrase since it is commonly used in this context rather than the other way.

I don't think any of us spend enough time with our kids. I spent a lot and now that I have adult kids, I am glad for every minute I did spend. Wish It could have been more. They probably dont :)

I'd bet most fully employed men spend more time at work/commuting than with their families.

He knows this. Probably has the same schedule most do (maybe he works part-time) He's just been a little envious that some people go on vacations that memories live on forever and then the ones where you look at trees

What was your vacation?

I remember both sounded pretty good to me.

You couldn’t handle either of my jobs. As for vacations, we just appreciate real life and beautiful natural scenery. Not some made up superficial BS.

You got me bro! Good thing I don’t feel the need to validate myself to you. M-I-C-K-E-Y
M-O-U-S-E!!!

So what are the two jobs over the 11 hour period? I also doubt a person with multiple jobs, that equals more than the average hourly day, spend more time with their families than the schedule I laid out. Do you work weekends?

*on a good day

Wake up @ 630, get daughter, mom gets her ready while I shower then I drive her to school, "mom" showers then goes to work, I come home and go to work. I wfh with wife until she gets daughter at 5. While wife gets daughter I make dinner, wife gets home, I work out, she feeds daughter or I'm done working out and she works out and I feed daughter. ( this is that I try for) Hang out as family until 730. Read books, pray, daughter goes to bed, wife and I eat at roughly 745. She and I hang out until 930ish, she goes to bed, unless 😃, I hang out for a couple hours and let my mind unwind and talk to you idiots. Rinse, repeat.

Weekends, I wake up early sat morning and let wife "sleep in" ( 830ish) she reverses on Sunday. Sometimes daughter goes to parents for Saturday with Nana and Papa and church Sunday morning and wife and I go for a date sat night. Maybe get 😃.

In summer on 1 weekend morning I mow, I wake up, hang out until 9ish, wife hangs with daughter until she naps around 11, by the time she is up I'm back.

Concert hall I've limited now to Friday/ sat nights and it's the inverse of mowing.

Frankly with both my wife and I working from home we need excuses to get some alone time.

Bro, simmer down. I’m not going to dox myself. Some of my clients might not approve of me participating in some of the more low brow antics on this board.
If you must know though, I can tell you that I do work some weekends of my choice. I may also work with some family members so that may skew things, but at least I’m not an arrogant superficial dick like you.

Aww. It's cute how you're all in your feelings now.

In all seriousness, I don't give 2 shits where you take your family on vacation. If that's what you like go for it, just like we did with our vacation. If you built memories with your family with any vacation, you're probably doing something right.

Now run along and cry somewhere else.

Eh, I think it’s overblown. My dad traveled for work and my mom worked all the time. I never hung out with them, we very rarely had meals together, and especially once I hit a bit older I was never home.

But we always had great relationships and I loved spending time with them. Just didn’t do it that much.
