Iowa In the 5-2 / 3-4 at Kids Day?

Looking over the video and even the picture for the video about kids days it appears the defense was in a 5-2 / 3-4 on a number of plays.

A few times we lined up in a 4-3 and then the outside backer moved up on the LOS pre-snap.

Wonder if this was done to give the O that look in preparation or if we are going to run some variance to the 4-3 at times too? Maybe it’s just semantics and we’ve always done this.
 
5-2 is not a bad idea this year in certain situations. 3-4 not so much imo

Moving the OLB over the TE to give more of a 5-2 look is nothing new. Just depends on the formation.

I didn't see any 3-4. I did see a package late where I want to say they had 3 DL, 1 LB, and 7 DBs when the offense was running the 2 minute drill.

That's very interesting, not a bad idea to get faster more stamina players on the field in late game situations

Unless a formation is straight up, it's often inaccurate to identify a defense simply by the locations of players. You need to look at numbers and identify individuals. The reveals everything.
