They don't have the minimum amount of healthy players, between injuries and covid.
Covid my ass.
They don't have the minimum amount of healthy players, between injuries and covid.
UCONN women had a game postponed earlier this year because they couldn't field a team due to injuries. So yes, that is also a thing. This has to be one of the very few games affected by Covid this season. I mean, its 2023 now!
Labeling the reason for postponement as "Covid and injuries"? Sorry, but F* that!
Does Iowa get to replay those games, that ended up as losses, that Kris & Connor were out with injury?! OFC they don't, nor does any other team in the nation that stumbled through similar circumstances.
Yep, derailed our season that yearThis reminds me of when Assembly Hall was raining metal a few years back.
@TheTruthTheWholeTruth why are you laughing at this? UConn had 6 players against DePaul so they postponed the game. Some of you dipshits might want to get out more.UCONN women had a game postponed earlier this year because they couldn't field a team due to injuries. So yes, that is also a thing.
COVID should no longer be an excuse to change when a game is played, lmao.
They need to forfeit. Period.
Agree Fran. Not sure why some of you guys are so up in arms about this? If it’s the same as the flu (which half of you claim it is) and that’s fine, and they had 7 guys with the flu would you want them all trying to play throwing up and passing it around? It’s a freaking basketball game. Let the kids heal and play when available. I sure hope @JRHawk2003 can get over his outrage over this. Pretty sure it’s another conspiracy to keep us from winning the league again. 😏🤛What a crock of manure.
Do you even know the rules?
Maybe you should do a google search and educate yourself before you post. Period.
God forbid you were inconvenienced because a game wasn’t played on the originally scheduled date.No shit? They’ve all been vaccinated, or should have been by now. They can also use those super useful masks if they feel it’s appropriate. If someone is at high risk of serious illness or death…..stay the **** home.

It should be treated as illnesses were pre-COVID, as anyone who isn’t hysterical and looks at statistics would agree, buddy. So, you're ok with Covid positive people coughing, breathing and spitting in your face?
Didn't think so.
But, hey, lets subject the Iowa team to this. You know, the Iowa team which is down to 9 scholarship players with PMac and Ogundele out.
When did I say that I was inconvenienced?God forbid you were inconvenienced because a game wasn’t played on the originally scheduled date.
How many league games were cancelled because of the flu in the past? How many players who weren’t showing heavy symptoms were tested for the flu because someone else on the team had it? 😂Agree Fran. Welp looks like bad snow storm so not a ton of attendanceHow many league games were cancelled because of the flu in the past? How many players who weren’t showing heavy symptoms were tested for the flu because someone else on the team had it? 😂

It's not outrage.
I just don't see why we make allowances for this now when no one did for a long long time.
They can't field a team? They lose. Too bad. So sad.
And if Iowa can't field a team because of a covid outbreak? Iowa should forfeit? Too bad, so sad???
JFC
I used to go to work with the flu. So did my employees. And we got each other sick and ended up losing more time in the end. If COVID had taught us one thing it should be STAY HOME if you are sick. No one wants your illness. How many league games were cancelled because of the flu in the past? How many players who weren’t showing heavy symptoms were tested for the flu because someone else on the team had it? 😂
Yes. If it came to it. There isn't slack in the schedule to do these things. Where does it stop?
It should be treated as illnesses were pre-COVID, as anyone who isn’t hysterical and looks at statistics would agree, buddy.
have teams ever had a game postponed because of a flu outbreak or RSV or the common cold? For vaccinated AND previously infected 18-24 year olds, it’s no different. Finally, all of our immune systems are no longer naive to SARS-Cov2. This should be a non issue. Play some walk ons if you have to
Going by what I saw at Hawkeyesports.com but I understand what you're saying. Not "cancelled" at this point anyway.......
Is that you, James Franklin? Not a single message of, I hope the kid who has COVID is ok?
How so?A happy medium between the two. (Which this is.)
Jesus Christ, postponing a game because players have COVID isn't "cowering in fear"
Some of the responses in this thread are asinine.
Lets say you are at your gym and you are really fit & are about to play some pick up basketball.
The team you are about to face tells you, "Just so know, we all have covid. 2 of us start coughing really bad after a couple trips up and down the court, so we'll probably have plenty of stuff flying in your face while playing. But, hey, we're young and you're probably vaccinated, so who the f cares, right? Oh, and since everybody else left, we will be PLAYING EACH OTHER FOR A COUPLE HOURS! Let's hoop man!"
Do you play for the next 2 hours or not? We all know you will, but I just want to verify and make sure you are consistent on this issue.
How is Iowa having to play 3 games in 5 days, versus 2 games in 5 days not disadvantaged?Careful, the mouth breathers and simpletons quit trying to understand this.
FWIW we’ve lost 3 patients (2 unvaccinated) in January…at least 3/day isn’t the norm anymore.
It’s not just the healthy young guys in a program or traveling party.
It sucks, game and the lingering, mutating virus, and Iowa should not be compromised w/rescheduling.
Does anyone know how a forfeiture impact NET rankings
NET rankings would go up since Iowa would win the game by a score of 2-0 and move to 13-6 overall and 5-3 in conference.Careful, the mouth breathers and simpletons quit trying to understand this.

So you are saying these patients died FROM CoVid, with no other co morbidities, and not WITH CoVid from another cause of death…?Careful, the mouth breathers and simpletons quit trying to understand this.

I am not saying they should play with COVID.
Straw man much?
Why would jNWN play their guys that have clinical CoVid? their not going to travel kids with clinical covid. So, you wouldn't play against the team with covid. You'd forfeit, and walk away.
Yet you want Iowa to play against Northwestern.
Hypocrite much?
Why would jNWN play their guys that have clinical CoVid? their not going to travel kids with clinical covid.
its on jNWN to play with non clinically positive kids, yes?
Oh, you are right and I always forget about those games.Sorry, was thinking of First four, but many don't consider that part of the first round..
I’ve not heard anything on # of clinically positive, # positive but asymptomatic, Or # that are negative but have been in ‘close contact’ , or # that have have CoVid in past and are now in a, b, or c.did Northwestern publicly state how many scholarship players are not positive?
