Iowa school voucher scam update: Private schools raising tuition up to 40%. Special ed services to public schools will have a 30 million dollar cut

If public school teachers would do their job and quit praising Bernie Sanders and the Squad all of the time then the state wouldn’t have to do vouchers. Teachers brought this on themselves. Public school teachers have the biggest egos of anyone. They want power and control of people and the best way for that is a classroom of young kids. So they can spew their bullcrap on them.
Wow. I hope this is sarcasm.

Capital begets investment, huh? I bet that investment is disproportionately not in teachers and students. Of course, it would be nice if there was some legal mechanism to look into how these funds are used but nope can't have that. Absent that, I see no reason to give these leeches the benefit of the doubt.
Bet away, but again, neither you nor I will be in a position to validate it.

Yes, the ones in high school in diapers and with severe disabilities are, I was more talking about the many special Ed kids that used to be in a different classroom and now are mixed in. Multiple IEPs per classroom and they require much more time and effort and are a lot of the behavior issues. The TAG kids and the kids wanting to be there and trying suffer as it is impossible to keep the special Ed kids up with the rest of the class.
Obviously they would benefit the most Fromm God’s touch in their Education….

Just in my school alone kids are separated throughout the day from peers so they can be taught in a small group setting. So yeah, they’re not in all day. Your overall post I agree with however. I’m at a really good public school but the staff is beyond ready for this group of 6th graders to be out. Very disrespectful to paras and classroom teachers. Constantly disrupting the learning environment.

That’s the other part. Sometimes you just have a tough batch in one particular grade…but you’re stuck with them for several years. Can make things look worse than they really are.

Look, if they wanted an education they should have been normal.
Do you actually believe that bs?

If a handicapped child is capable of learning at the 5th grade level then by all means put them in 5th grade. However what is happening is they are placing children who can't talk, can't read, can't do anything but drool and scream for 40 minutes in the classrooms with kids that actually want to learn. You are robbing the kids who want to learn of an education when this happens. That is why my children when to a private school where the learning environment was such as to make them more successful in life, they all graduated both HS and college with honors.

Do you actually believe that this is a common occurrence?

And of course, the solution would be to put more resources into schools so that they have enough special Ed teachers and assistants; enough rooms; etc.

Yep. This group has mostly very immature boys, and catty girls. The girls needed "friends' group" with the counselor starting in 1st grade.

Do you call it a welfare check when it goes to public school instead? Be honest now..
It's the public option. And was created specifically for the public good. Everyone gets to use it etc etc. If I think the police in my community aren't good enough for me. And I want to hire a private security for my needs. Do you think I should get a welfare check from tax payers to subsidize my service fees or should I have to pay the full costs myself.

And with new laws that's no longer the case. Public schools have every advantage in drawing in money over private schools. They just need to properly implement a curriculum the parents agree with. If not, they can go broke. They're not entitled to tax dollars anymore. They've done this to themselves. I have minimal sympathy at this point.

Well then parents need to take the competitive chains off them. You're expecting them to give private education results. While having to educate kids that have no business being there. Kids that don't do work and are nothing but classroom time distractions. I sat in my daughters class. They were giving presentations. The teacher gave the option of students not going and taking a zero to move things along instead of class confrontation. I was surprised the number of kids that were allowed to take zeros and not feel a bit of guilt.

We can hardly make kids do anything they don't want to do these days. No. Support.

Sounds like that school has determined $2,300 is the amount they need to charge above the ESA to help weed out most of the low-income students?
Wonder how much time they had to spend to do a study to generate that price point. Of course tuition increases and why they are enacted are closed to the public. Imagine if school boards did something similar in their budget process.

Very possibly.
I've had classes like that where the moms were obsessed with their children hanging out with the "right" kids, wearing the "in" clothes, and getting invited to the "cool" parties. Then they're surprised that their kids aren't always kind to everyone.

Any school that accepts vouchers should have to accept any student who shows up with a voucher check from the state. And that check covers the full cost.
You would think.

I get that they can’t take everyone, though. But to me that’s one of the problems of this whole plan. You’re giving public money to private schools that don’t have the same obligations or accountability as public schools.

This is why so many Iowans are upset. This thing was crammed through with very limited public input, and the limited polling showed it to be well under 50 percent in popularity with the public.

Not really, private schools are there to actually educate children which the public schools don't. Most send their children to private schools to get them into a learning environment opening the doors to everyone will simply cause the private school to sink to the public schools level.

Your post is nonsense.
