Iowa State sweet 16 first year coach. Lol

Makes me sick to think we have a program a few hours northwest of Iowa city in the same got dam state that is taking every step it can and using every option available to build a winner.

The Big Ten sent 9 teams to the NCAA Tournament this
year. Only Michigan has made it to the Sweet Sixteen.
Purdue must beat Texas to get there. So the best
the Big Ten can do is 2 out of 9 teams in Sweet Sixteen
. Our conference is overrated & living on Fantasy Island.

The Big 12 is a conference with a number of great defensive teams and they make it really hard for you to run an offense. Couple that with the fact that the refs swallow their whistles and you have games like ISU - Wisconsin, Texas Tech - ND, Auburn-Miami, etc. These games are played with the winner likely scoring less than 60.

I think Iowa got exposed for not being tough enough...against a A10 team. I know we didn't shoot it well...and that was why we lost...but ask yourself...did you think we were the tougher team? The answer is no.

ISU had TWO wins last year 2-22 0-18 In-Conference....then does something that Scam hasn't done in his career.
Kind of takes the starch out of all that Lick blaming pabulum they doled out for Fran over the years. Lick at his worse won 10 games. Time for a new excuse. But hey, they still roll out that 20 losing seasons thing when Kirk falls flat.

Read my posts starting back in Nov.

I’ve been saying that but nobody wanted to listen. Oh well

Unless Keegan comes back (lol), I hope Carver is a ghost town next year and that Barta has no choice but to send Fran packing at the end of the season.
It’s going to be tough for the men to attract fans. What hope have they sold to fans?
The Iowa women laid an egg but Bluder has gone to at least 3 Sweet 16’s and I believe an Elite 8. That creates hope and optimism that it can be done. Fran’s had top ten teams in February only to fall to 7-8 seeds and current team win 11 of last 13 games then losses 1st round. No reasonably objectionable fan is optimistic Iowa mens basketball will make a run next year or years after to the Sweet 16.
It’s like watching the same movie over and over. You know it’s ending so you stop watching.

Iowa fans should be a little frustrated and wonder “why not us” after a coach who took over a a two win team and won 22 games with a bunch of role players and Fran has had a POY and an AA lottery pick and can’t get them to the 2nd weekend.
Last two seasons have been a huge waste of opportunities. I doubt I ever see Iowa with back to back AA, let alone NPOY and projected lottery pick. 1-2 Tournament record is a kick to the nuts.

ISU coach is flash in the pan. It is not what you do in your first year, it is years 13 and beyond.

Fran still hasn't bought into Defense.

Best defenders on team were Keegan, Kris, Perkins, JoeT, Ulis and Mulvey/JoshO probably would have been better defensive option than Rebraca versus any team with a true post.

JBO, Rebraca, and PMAC were the 3 worst defenders on the team for their position and they were the starters.

I think Rebraca tried really hard, but he was the worst post defender in B1G. He got destroyed by Cockburn, TJD, Purdue bigs.

I’m definitely not sold on him. At all.

I think he’ll be a failure & gone in 4 or 5 years.

Lets wait until he beats somebody in a tournament game before we go congratulating him.

A SEC team & a team with their most important player out is not much.

Miami won’t qualify either.
So you're saying that the Big 10 co-champ sucks? In front of 17,000 of their screaming fans? TJ has averaged 20 wins a year over 5 years as head coach. He has already achieved more than Fran in his entire career. You people are fools for keeping Fran.

They are undefeated outside the Big 12 this year 15-0...

If swallowing your whistle is calling 43 fouls, 25 on ISU, then ok.

Correct & not only was the whole B1G not good this year, you didn’t really beat the co-champs. You beat a team without their most important player.

But it’s not your fault he got injured. I just can’t give you that much credit until you beat somebody in this tourney.

It might be quite a while until you play a real team though.

Pretty sure Wisconsins most important player is Big 10 Player of the year Johnny Davis, who played 38 mins and was held to 4-16/0-7 shooting. So you’re wrong there.

And wait until he beats somebody? Like other than the Big Ten regular season champ? Ha. Self burn.

Miami won’t qualify as “somebody” after beating Auburn? A 2 seed? They’re no good?

You know he has three stud frosh and a big man from Georgetown coming in next year? This is rag tag team he threw together. You can keep Franny.

Isn't there a good chance UNi's Green transfers into ISU as well?

I'm an Iowa grad and fan, but Iowa State has a very impressive coach that kids would love to play for. He just landed the Iowa player of the year in the terrific guard from Ames that won the state championship. Ostelberger is off to an impressive start.

Is it fair to assess Fran by what Iowa State does?
No, but this is big-boy college basketball; things aren't supposed to be fair. That's why coaches are paid big bucks.

Could you even imagine what would be going on in Durham, NC if Duke had lost today and UNC made the Sweet 16 this year as a #9 and Duke got ousted as a #2 for Coach K's finale? There would be absolute outrage. I doubt the Blue Devil faithful would be saying "well, we still had a great season and our ACCT championship was swell; don't have ill-will toward the Tar Heels." LOL. But, hey, Fran gets All-Americans and cool NCAA seeds and his teams play groovy until that pesky NCAA Tourney, but it's just, ya know, ONE little Tourney throughout a long season; it shouldn't matter THAT much...

Ah, nope. PG’a run this tournament & they literally had nobody behind him.

It always cracks me up every time ISU does something good the number of clone fans that come on this site. Congrats on your win, congrats on making the sweet 16. I wish Iowa could make it there. Now please go back to your site.

I'm surprised there's only been a handful of them. The way many have been shooting off their mouths here the past few weeks and taking shots at ISU, this board deserves an invasion.

Thought Big 10 POY was Wisconsin’s most important player. Maybe if ISU would have had to play the 6th place A10 school they would have been eliminated. It’s really tough to give ISU any credit.

it’s also probably why they have an arena full of loud fans and tons of students there. Imagine that - if you do everything you can do and emphasize D above all else, fans are smart and they recognize it.

ISU did get a pretty favorable draw in the tournament.

But Iowa did THIS year too.... And shot ourselves in the d**k.

Milwaukee against Wisconsin isn’t a “good draw”.
