Iowa Won't (Can't) Compete With This

I disagree.
It is woke from the perspective that it was driven by the you g ones who have all these great ideas of how utopia is going to bloom with their fantastic ideas of fairness and equity etc. etc. and then years later they head executes dislodged and they THEN can see the consequences that they never took a minute to ponder.
WHOOPS, too late. Now you have screwed the pooch so bad it cannot be fixed.
No worries. I have plenty other hobbies I can spend my free time and money on.
I spent way too much time trying to comprehend this.

I did a little google on "woke" to see what the actual term's specific meaning is/was.......it was added to the dictionary or formally adopted in 2017 for the meaning that I believe you are referring to..talks about sensitivity to racism and issues of equity so I get that part of what you are saying. I remember Ed OBannan back in the mid 1990's with the NIL due to video games etc......so I can see where you were going but it's not the recent "woke" stuff.....and the part in your post that I put in bold and in italics, I don't know what that means?

The other part of your response, I think is referring to what the original thought is, yes the NIL looks like it could cause a major problem...hopefully doesn't "ruin" college sports...but again, I don't see that as anything to do with being "woke" which is an attempt in this case to blame it on a political faction. The truth is, the NIL issue has been mishandled for a long time and now we have what looks like an over correction. That, to me, is the crux of the problem.

Good. It's also obvious you know nothing about NIL. It's not meant to be fair or equitable. It's about what an athlete can get for his name, image or likeness. But you just wanted to spout some crazy conspiracy bullshit instead. Please go fishing and stay off the board and quit watching.

Is Amari Bailey a relative of Toby Bailey? Toby threw down some monster dunks on UCLA’s ‘95 national title team.

Alabama has been helped significantly by out of state students. What's happened in the South is there is a huge shortage of college eligible male students. The Texas 10% or in some cases top 8% of your class makes it very hard for a majority of Texas students to stay in state. My brothers son was a math wiz who I believe scored a 34-35 on the ACT in math but just ok in the other parts. He basically went to Bama for almost free and is now an actuary. They are recruiting Texas very hard. Also be surprised at the amount of East coast kids attending Bama these days.
Didn't realize the shortage of college age males here in the south but keep reading about the increasing number of out of state students attending Alabama and them upping their scholarship game. It has benefited both the school and the state and I personally think that having a big time football program helps fuel everything.

This discussion in my view reflects another angle of why NIL seems so problematic. Here in the south you have prosperity flowing from population growth, business investment, etc. That just feeds NIL opportunities and allows the rich to get richer. Very unequal landscape out there that NIL will just widen IMO.

Texas A & M always has a top 10 class. The school didn’t pay. Again, you’ve got it wrong on how it works. But carry on with your misinformation.
It is amazing how these comments just keep coming when it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the NIL. Again folks, NO bag of cash, NO money directly from the school......

Find this a fascinating topic which has delayed my goal of going back to becoming more of an observer. I think everybody realizes or at least ought to that this reflects a whole different situation than the bag men who have played such a big role in recruiting down here in the SEC. While this NIL money doesn't come directly from the schools it doesn't mean that the schools can't indirectly influence some of this.

Recall Scott Frost's comments about NIL. He said he hates the whole concept of it but will go with the flow. He also talked about interacting with the business community in Lincoln to get some kind of consortium going. Others may recall better than me exactly what he said about that. A whole lot of gray in this whole scenario IMO.

Are you saying 31 million wasn’t part of NIL? I never said A & M paid but booster sure as hell did. Iowa can’t compete with that!
