Wait are ISU fans really trying to spin the sunglasses as "awareness"???? That is a new level even for them.
I'll take that bet.
Yes, treating people with cancer does make ISU fans feel better.

If a member of his family had cancer there is NO doubt we would have heard all about it. IFor a "great shooter" I am glad that I have now watched him play 3 times--3 pt--Purdue--Iowa earlier-and he was fantastic in all 3 as far as I am concerned.Perception is a funny thing.
Since the ISU player wore sunglasses to bring "awareness", he is automatically mocked + ridiculed by many on this board. Most, but not all, posters have made light of his small gesture. I even saw one post crediting Iowa for having a med school. Seems odd?
Perhaps a member of Long's family or a friend has cancer, and this was a small way to honor him or her? I don't know, but what if. Would that change your perception of Long (or anyone) wearing sunglasses during this contest?
It looked like he was having a blast, enjoying the moment, but he didn't shoot well. Okay, no big deal. Had he won, his status as a great shooter wouldn't have increased. Finishing "last" doesn't diminish it either.
Naz has been a great player + representative of Iowa State. Happy to see him chosen to participate in this event last night. I guess I'm happier that he shot well at Kansas earlier this year, when it really counted.
By the way, Jok was lights out. Good for him.

Seemed out of place, like "Wow! Look at ME everybody!"so now it was a pointless competition....
he made a mockery of it by wearing the glasses..and dont give me a speech about the clicks....I know all about what bethematch means. Every participant gave it their best effort....except for one.
I guess all the other competitors didn't get the memo about it being meaningless.Or, you are taking too seriously a pointless competition instead of the clicks generated by discussion of bethematch.org
Grand Canyon University in Arizona.Nevermind found it in page 3....wow he won!!!! That's amazing, is this the first time a Iowa guy has won? Also where was it played at?

When do they raise the banner for this monumental achievement? I'd like to be there. Clearly more important than anything the team might accomplish

thats all you got....your boy makes a mockery out of the event...and all you can come up with is your banners' & oh...he was bringing awareness to cancer...
you clowns that post on HR (that would be "hawkeye" report) are a joke....grow up & call it what it was...Dez Long being stupid.
If Peter Jok had been dumb enough to wear dark glasses while participating ... I'd be the first to jump his ass....for doing so. It was great to see him wearing the Kenny Arnold shirt...another cancer survivor.
I love to see tavern hoks taking the pro-cancer position. Anything to oppose ISU
That was my point iclone, "anything to oppose ISU."
I guess I will enjoy looking up at another Big 12 tourney banner and another NCAA tourney banner. Much more meaningful.
Good for Jok for winning the 3 point challenge, but if he didnt win, would that have lessened all he accomplished this year? I hope your answer is no.
Next year will be interesting. High expectations for Iowa. High expectations are hard to live up to. I just hope no one calls Iowa "young" anymore. This board will be entertaining.

Don't you realize when looking back on basketball history you only go as far back to when hoiberg came to isu.
So the sunglasses were to bring awareness to cancer, eh? Then why did he jokingly take them off after his miserable failure and act like he was going to throw them to the ground?thats all you got....your boy makes a mockery out of the event...and all you can come up with is your banners' & oh...he was bringing awareness to cancer...

Is it true that Iowa has not been in a Sweet 16 since last century?
