Josh Dix

This aligns with a poster's (on TOS, again, we all know how unreliable that can be) update this morning...

Thursday morning update: Word should start to get out today about Dix. Return to Iowa still on the table. One source said it's Iowa or Indiana at this point, however not dismissing Illinois at this point.

Maybe we do have a chance yet with Josh - long shot so not getting my hopes up too much but that would be awesome!

Interesting that KS seems to be out of the running - if the tweet by @Underscore2 is accurate...

I doubt Iowa has spent much on the roster thus far and can come up a decent amount from where they started.

At that point in time, he was better than Kris. Most people on this board thought Kris was a waste of a scholarship and only here because of Keegan. Argue that all you want.
At what point in time? 21-22? They were basically even. Patrick started. Kris didn't. Their stats were almost identical.

Either he goes or he stays.
Not a big deal due to the fact that we were nothing special last year with him.
Time to move on.
I beg to differ. Dix would be a huge get for IA this year. Heck, he's a top 10 guard in the 247 Portal. Put him in the backcourt with Stirtz (#1 guard I might add in 247 Portal) and IA would have one of the top backcourts in the country. He'd be a major asset in terms of educating the newbies on the B1G teams, coaches, players, tendencies, etc. Just because he wasn't used last year effectively with a substandard team and coach doesn't mean he wouldn't be a major asset this year.

That being said, it's a definite long shot to get Dix back at this point.

And don't forget how BenMc likes the back door plays. Josh was very good at finishing these types of plays.

Yep, saying losing Dix is like saying a baseball team wouldn't need an Ernie Banks just because the Cubs never made the playoffs wth him on the roster.

There were still some good pieces on last year's team.

With @1500 souls in the Portal, it seems that comparable production (or close to it) to Dix could be obtained (and cheaper).
Never implied that Dix was unworthy.
Just keep searching for the replacement.

Dix is a great player and combine him with Stirtz and a team of players that made the tournament without Dix? Damn. This would be amazing news. And Dix was our best defender by a longshot adding that to a team with a good set of supporting defenders. Let's go Josh! We could be an amazing team next year. Josh playing with a team that simply wants to be a team like he does woukd be a real set up for success.

The Hawks last year had a team of teammates and a player or two that seemed only trying to enhance their resume.

So I’m starting to have some actual hope the chance of Josh Dix coming back could legitimately be on the uptick because;

- This has been going on long enough now, and, he’s done all the visits, and the longer this goes on, the better for Iowa. I’ve seen this opinion and agree in principal.

- An interesting Chris Williams podcast yesterday, that is not directly related to JD, but NIL and agents in general. About how some schools lie to someone being a “top” choice, then turn around and take someone else. Again nothing directly related, but if he did run into some negatives from the agent / NIL games - I would hope Iowa was not one of those negatives - quite the opposite..

- Him following new Iowa related items on social media.

- He’s a smart kid who probably can do the math and see this potential:

Iowa - decent coin - life changing coin, and lots of playing time with a coach who has a kick-ass point guard, and who beat a “richer” Mizzou team in the NCAA tournament as a very low seed, a better feat than all of Fran’s Iowa tenure.

Others so far: more life changing coin, but who really knows on the PT or tournament potential - which in turn affects how much he’s seen and evaluated for NBA potential and even larger coin long term.

All of this vapor at this point but logical enough to be hopeful as possible without any real sources..

You think he wants to be around low energy Owen?
Everything is speculation at this point. I think it's between iowa, Indiana, illinois, and Kansas.

I think that revenue sharing goes through on the 7th. So if nothing happens before then. I think iowa has a real chance seeing that they can offer more. Pretty sure he's taken all the visits he wanted to take.

I see indiana as the realest threat

Illinois, Indiana? So much for being closer to home.
