Don’t know anyone that has lost his/her job.
I do know a few people that lost their jobs during covid, myself included and I did not vote for the president at the time. Does that make my situation better or worse.
We work heavily with contractors at Scott, and apparently things are in chaos there. I mentioned this before, we had a $30M downturn in actual versus projected in January, mainly because orders are not being place or processed at the normal pace, and our MAGA-heavy corporate officers are in full panic mode.
My niece accepted the 8-month buyout last month. She is former military and had a federal job researching requests for grants. Probably a smart move. She has five kids and a husband with shitty insurance so the stress level is high for the next job considering the insurance situation.
Probably depends on the non profit. I know a few people that work for government funded non profits and not a word has been mentioned to them about even the possibility of being shut down.

I know a lot of row crop guys that have their finger crossed. Yesterday a young guy I know well told me he sold all he expects to combine this Fall at $4.71 - he thinks that will give himself .15 cents a bushel profit. He said he still supports what Trump is trying to do, but it might be to risky for him, his wife, and three school aged kids.

Has the government kept their word about the buyout? I thought there was some question about whether they had the authority to offer such a buyout.

i think most people operate under the expectation their employment generally depends on their own performance and that contracts and commitments aren't simply based on the whim of a billionaire that happened to donate a lot of money to the president

I hate to see anyone lose their job. That’s the difference between me and some maga that post here. Are these job cuts wise and needed or are they at the whim of a unelected drug addled idiot? The problem with these people and you also is that you/them voted for this. Everyone is ready to sacrifice other’s jobs but when it hits home it’s wrong. Trump voters are the problem.

This particular "billionaire" has been tasked with identifying wasteful government spending to be considered by the current administration for potential budget cuts,.. Contracts and commitments can exist in support of a turd product,.. When you discover a turd, you flush it.

We are dealing with decades of anti-union propaganda. It is apparent that some Americans have a built in mechanism to try to pull people down with them instead of of improving stuff for society overall. The job cuts weren't needed, but now that they are doing it there will inherently be supporters.
I love that the people cheering hardest for Musk and his DOGE posse are the same folks who breathlessly hated on "UNELECTED BUREAUCRATS!!!!" for years.
