NCAA Seeds

Hope Caliendo goes to the finals from the 3 to keep our finalist streak safe, he's our best shot. Ayala has a lot of potential potholes, what a terrible draw, but he did shine his best last year at this time and it'll bring out the best in him. And I've always thought Buchanan needed to avoid AJ until the finals and they'll be in the semis if they meet. I just don't think he can take AJ down and it'll come down to rideouts. Unless Glazier wants to beat AJ via disqualification in the 2nd round. Of course if Jacori can upset Shapiro in round 2, he basically takes over the two seed and I'm not counting him out. Kennedy and Arnold should both be competitive in a 6-11 matchup so hopefully one or both pull the upset. Kueter with the 5 is a huge boost. It's crazy how much the drop off will be next year that he's still light years behind those monsters on top but possibly a favorite next season even with all the football/weight chatter that hounds him. Can't wait to get them back out there in eight days! Lot of chances to reverse B10s and better our seeds.

Looking it all over:

Cruz: Can't complain given his season and Big 10 results.
Ayala: Tough draw IMO. Bouzakis is a DANGEROUS QF if it get there.
Parco: Decent, but I would have much rather avoided Stiles.
Teemer: Brutal, but can't complain given the results. I'll have more of an opinion when I run the bracket.
Caliendo: I think he got kind of hosed, and I HATE having Mantanona in the QF. Bad recent history w/ Michigan QFs, plus a funky style.
Kennedy: Honestly a legit shot at the QFs and the bloodround, and then...?
Arnold: Same as above.
Buchanan: Should make the semis, but losing to Cardenas has put him in a tough spot. AJ, for all the hate I and others give him, is probably the best guy. Was really hoping they'd bump Barr over Ferrari.
Kueter: Hard to complain as he is away from the three monsters unless he makes the semis, and a semi run would be a huge win (and he can do it with this draw; as @IAChief32 mentioned, the weight class in general is kind of a bear.)

This is a draw that sucks for Buchanan. Damn one loss and he now has a tough semi against a guy that he’s lost to prior.

It’s not a “bad draw.” He had every opportunity to get the top seed and avoid AJ before the finals and went out and did nothing instead. That’s on him. Period.

How did Barr get the 4 seed? The bracket says he has 16-3 record, but he lost to Buchanon and then took three losses at Big10s didn't he? So it appears they have his record incorrect. Do they no longer penalize wrestlers for injury defaulting out at Conf tourney? They changed the seeding criteria this year to put more weight on Conf tourney placement, but seem to have ignored that in Barr's situation.

Yeah that’s why I said one loss gave him a much tougher semi.

I was hoping Aj the 1 Cardenas the 2 and SB the 3. Better chance to beat Cardenas in a semi than Aj

Ayala got a brutal draw, round 2 match up against Anthony Noto.

Parco is in an ok spot, but Stiles at the 12....
R1 is scary too. That’s the kid who lit up Frost at Big 12s. Up and down, but very dangerous.

No, he lost twice at Big 10's. Lost to Cardenas and then lost to Salazar in the consis

Seems that match was a 1 off. Moore's next best win is Chlebove who didn't even qualify. He's 14-17 on the year, was majored by Byrd, Bailey, Serrano, Davis, and Knox, and pinned by Garrett Grice, ISU's back up. Ayala should have no problem. Also, Noto lost 9-0 to Braxton Brown and 16-7 to Bouzakis. Not saying they can't beat Ayala but it shouldn't be close in either.

Lots of ways to look at it with Teemer, Kennedy, and Gabe’s seeds. You don’t think Shapiro isn’t saying “wtf, I get the 2 seed and get a returning finalist and 4 time AA in the second round”? If Teemer wins, he basically moves into that 2 seed. With Patrick and Gabe it’s just a case of flipping those 11 seeds to 6 seeds in big second round matches. If you’re going to AA you’re going to have to beat multiple good guys to get there, might as well do it in the second round. I see great opportunities here.

If PK makes quarters and loses he gets Norman or Kharchla/Pinto loser in Rd12
If PK loses Rd 2 he gets Kharchla/Pinto winner in Rd12
If PK loses Rd 1 he has Devos in Rd16 and then Wask in Rd12 (who he beat 6-2 at Soldier Salute)

I was thinking Paniro has the tougher 2nd round against D’Emilio despite have the better seed.

Plus he lost to McDaniel in the 6th place match. He took two MFFs after losing to Cardenas. So he has 4 losses for the season. In the past wrestlers have gotten hammered in the NCAA seeding for taking MFFs at Conf Tourney.
My mistake. I forgot about the MFF. The seeding is done by a formula and head-to-head is given the most weight. Barr beat the 5 seed Beard earlier this year so I'm sure that factored in
