NEB play by play

We've said it all season...Arnold is too small for 184.

No offense against anyone with a pulse.

It's PAST Ferrari time.

Arnold's chances to AA are probably <10%.
No sense in burning Angelo this year. The weight clear out and he’s a top contender next year. I honestly don’t give a damn about the team finish I wanna crown a champ or two. And I’ll take those odds on Gabe’s AA percentage.

He wrestled nearly the same way against Rogotke of tOSU and capitalized on a bad shot.
Tonite...no offense again. Neither of those guys is better than low AA.
I think you're HOPING he can AA.
There's absolutely no guarantee Ferrari will be here for four years.
Give me Ferrari.

It was a fun and frustrating dual at the same time. We're just not putting it all together yet.

Cruz exemplifies that. He's getting better, he's hanging with top dogs, but he drives me crazy with brain farts and failure to capitalize on opportunities. Someone please teach him how to finish a single leg and get off the bottom. Do that and he'd have majored the guy.

Ayala started too slow, as he often does, and found himself with too slim a lead in the 3rd to feel comfortable opening it up. So he sat on a 2-point lead for the final minute. Risky and frustrating to watch.

Schriever, I just don't get. Fifth-year senior who has simply never improved.

Parco was the true OW. Gutsy takedown for the win against the guy who beat Van Ness.

I like watching Estrada, even though he's got a ways to go. Unlike Schriever, he wrestles top guys like he actually thinks he can win. That's refreshing and Brands-like.

Caliendo returned mostly to form, as if he needed this re-boot match to test his self-confidence. Not his best performance, but hopefully the re-boot will be successful.

I'm as frustrated by Kennedy as everyone else--but it was a fun match. He may simply be at his ceiling, in which case he's a R12/AA toss-up.

Gabe...arrgggh...no excuses...he's not getting to his offense. Once is an aberration. Three times in a row is a pattern. How do you keep that guy off your legs? Get to your offense. And not once, in the final seconds, when you're dead tired and take one bad shot. Ten times, twenty times, starting in the first period. So if you take a bad shot in the final seconds you're already up by ten and it doesn't matter. Now you've been bitten.

Buchanan. Thank God. And he worried me, because he looked sluggish and tired in the first two periods. I thought he had the flu. He's just tough.

Kueter looked good, despite a few scary moments. He's got the weight of the world on his shoulders--high expectations, end of the lineup in close duals like this, and still young.

Glad we won, but not one for the highlights reel.

Nate skonieczny?
2X Ohio state champ from Walsh Jesuit. 2X Ironman champ, and national Powerade champion.
He was ranked #1 at 145 and #8 pfp when he verbally committed in Oct 2011. He was suppose to be the answer at 149. The week of wrestle-offs in Nov. 2012 he dropped out at Iowa. I think he got homesick?

Great summary of all weights/matches.

yes tarp very good and fair. the only thing to me was i did not think buchanan looked sluggish.i think he wrestled a perfect match.cannot rush at a fresh wrestler, he wore him down in 1st and 2nd periods then broke his ass in the 3rd period. imo.

Cruz- I knew he was done when he chose down. Not enough horsepower to finish shots either. B
Ayala- need more from him there. B-
Schriever- is what he is, C
Parco- won the meet with this upset, A
Estrada- he battles but small for the weight and tough to get offense going. B
Caliendo- Solid, B+
PK- needs to win these. C
Arnold- same as PK, C.
Buchanan- A+
Kueter- looking more comfortable, A-

PK/GA ????

I wish I had you as a teacher in middle school.
A "D" would be generous.
LOL

I think Val goes to most of the home meets and doesn't do PBP. ;)
That's what I assumed. I have a half dozen subscriptions to keep me watching when I'm away or with our son's. I changed a 💩 diaper and got both my son's to take a bath the last time I did PbP. I kept the description very basic.

We really do appreciate the effort you continuously put in doing it. I look forward to reading through it.

Maybe we can get another volunteer or two that can provide PbP for the home duals.

BUMP. I can name tons. Steveson for starters
LMFAO. Now you are going a bit past the fan that never gave up and reaching the level of ridiculousness many can never reach.

PK DNP, DNP, 4th and ?

Steveson 3rd, 1st, 1st, Olympic Champ, 2nd

Something about comparing the 2 doesn’t exactly favor PK, lol…

Steveson lost a lot more in this tournament than anyone else. He lost his legacy as being the greatest heavyweight of all time. He was the most favored athlete in the field. Kennedy went from 11 seed to 4 seed. I agree with Herk, Gable was a bust (in the tournament).

So, by that logic, Dan Gable was just as big of a bust when he lost to Owings?

Spencer Lee was the biggest bust ever between his ncaa and olympic failures.

Hopefully that was sarcasm to the same level I used Dan Gable as an example when comparing to Gable Steveson. "Bust" essentially means not remotely achieving what is expected. Taking 2nd in the last seconds to another undefeated when being undefeated your last 3 seasons until that match should never have that word remotely associated with it.

Add in what Spencer accomplished with all those injuries and he may even be farther from that word than the 2 "Gables"...
