Is this Nebby beat writer (Lincoln Journal Star) serious when he writes this?

Steven M. Sipple: After Sunday's silence, it appears Nov. 25 looms large for Husker football
Steven, a lifelong Nebraskan, newspaper enthusiast and UNL grad, joined the Journal Star in 1990 and has covered NU football since 1995.

So, thinking logically, it appears Nov. 25 will be a landmark date in Nebraska football history. It's easy to imagine Riley getting his walking papers the day after the Nov. 24 home game against Iowa. After that, you have to think Moos will move very quickly — perhaps in 24 hours — to announce Riley's replacement.

...the two weeks leading to the season-finale against Iowa represent merely a moment in time. It's a moment in time that would be quickly forgotten by most of the fan base if Nebraska, come Nov. 26 (or thereabouts), seals the deal on hiring Scott Frost.

Sounds like a plan.

Frost may have figured out that Nebraska is not the one he was familiar with. He will get better offers. Recruiting for them now that they are in the Big has changed.

The lure of leading your Alma mater back to glory is strong. Assuming Nebby can come up with the same kind of dough that Tennessee and Florida can, it's reasonable to believe he could be headed there,

I hope he goes there. Seems like a bad hire. Riley seemed like a bad hire at the time as well. Keep up the good work Nebby!

Frost will most likely be the next coach. A member of my CC is Matt Davidson... the Nebraska Ed Podalack. They were in each orher’s Wedding. They have been in contact

He will likely be far more successful at Florida than he will at Nebraska. The Florida athletes are plentiful and excellent. Nebraskans? Not so much. We shall see.

In addition to announcing their new coach kNebby is announcing their immediate football return to the B12. They will make a co-announcement with Misery that both teams plan to rejoin the B12 so they can return to their glory days.

Laugh all you want. I’m not into making stuff up out here. Matt might be full of $hit. Its the Country Club of Lincoln...19th hole where the convo occurred.
Calm down Debbie. It makes me laugh and I love to laugh. Is Lee still declaring for the NFL after this year? Any 4 or 5 star recruits you want to brag about?

Yeah just look at Bobby Stoops.

Oh wait...

Glory Days? That’s being generous. Nebraska hadn’t won the Big 12 since 1999 and Missouri NEVER won it. Neither have been worth a sh!t since the turn of the century.

I have met Scott frost a couple times. He is a good dude. I also know some higher net worth boosters at Nebraska and am hearing some of what you are saying. However, to game and give a location............ geez man. With that said, you must be confident.

Just reading the tea leaves.

Talk about a tale of two universities.....one who'd pay anything to clean house and get their guy, Scott Frost. And one who'd pay anything to keep the Ferentz family. I completely understand, old relationships sometimes one-ups everything else....even in Nebby-ville.

I fully expect Frost to be Nebraska's coach next year. The only way he won't, is if he stays at UCF. The leash may be even shorter at Tennessee or UF than Nebraska. The allure of his alma mater, and the quality of life considering his wife/kid in Nebraska. If it were me, I'd be in Nebraska (If those were my 4 options).

Their recruiting was changing before they joined the Big 10.

Nebraska has 2 problems in todays football landscape. 1) no more loading the roster with prop 48 kids. 2) switching coaches every 3-4 years will very seldom work. When the new coach tries to install his sytem he has the wrong personnel. By the time they get the right people they are fired and the whole cycle begins again. Funniest thing is, Nebraska will soon have 2 head coaches on the payroll.

This is so true it took Tom O. 21 years to win a national Championship about year 19 he decided to bring in any football player that could play on game day the heck with going to class and passing drug testing just play football.

This plus no longer playing in the pillow fight known as the Big 8 - 12.
Told by some insiders the upfront lineman situation is pretty bad over at Nebby and will take a couple years to rebuild. Poor S&C, recruiting and coaching has it below average and not much to look forward to in the near future. This was Rileys downfall - he didn't understand the importance of the lines - thought he could out scheme the west.

He and his wife LOVE Florida so you'll have that. The only thing keeping him from the Florida job right now is Chip Kelly.

Pretty sure he is lol-ing at there being a country club in Lincoln. It is pretty funny to envision.
Perhaps. But his assumptions about allegiances are incorrect, so probably not.

There are actually 3 CCs in Linoclon, and they are as nice as anything you find in Iowa....well I guess the at least in comparison to the ones where I have been a guest - CRGCC, Elmcrest, DMGCC, and Wakonda...plus the two in Iowa where I was a member - Ames, and Glen Oaks. FWIW we're gonna have a table full of Hawk fans at dinner there after the game in Friday.

they are ready have two on the payroll, very soon they'll be paying 3 head coaches at the same time. Good thing B1G money kicked in....it allows programs to be reckless and irresponsible without bankruptcy

If Frost is passed over by Florida (and maybe even Tennessee) then Nebraska gets him. It's not a bad gig. Even as bad as they've been they've still been getting top 25 recruiting classes. I think Frost could improve on that and with the Florida connections he could draw talent from that state as well. We'll see, but Frost to Nebraska would probably knock Iowa down to a tie for third best in the B10 West. Not a good thing for Iowa at all. And Purdue with Brohm might keep improving. The Fighting Kirks are going to have their work cut out for them in the future. We might be wondering where the 8-5 seasons went pretty soon. The defense is going to be taking a step back losing Jewell, Niemann, Bazata, and Jackson. I don't know what to expect on offense except inconsistency.

I have also heard Brohms name being mentioned for some higher level jobs.

So you are saying Scott Frost will, with 100 percent certainty, be the next head coach of Nebraska?

There's a lot of smoke around Frost and Nebraska under negotiations right now. Whatever happens with him, you'll see Riley removed right after the Iowa game and a new coach brought in quickly thereafter with the new early signing period in place

Personally, I'm not quite convinced he will be the next head coach at Nebraska.

Nebraska is not what it used to be. Yet, fans still expect 10 wins a season and Big 10 titles. Great expectations ... but no longer a reality at Nebraska.

For whatever reason, Nebby has made several bad coaching decisions. The hiring of Riley never made sense to me; nor did the Callahan hire.

Maybe the allure of returning to Nebby will be hard for him to pass up. However, the pressure will be intense. Sure, he will get some slack but in today's cut-throat coaching world he won't get long to produce results acceptable to Big Red fans.

Personally, I thought they should not have dumped Solich (58-19).

Nebby is more on par with Iowa now (yet their fans would never admit that). Nebby isn't "the place to go" as a player or coach.

Nebby is a "nice" program but the glory days are behind it.

How much are they paying each of the following and for how long?
Pelini
Riley

They will have to pay the next HC at least $5M, I would imagine....

Ok neb fans that are here, assuming frost is the next coach, does he get more than 3 yrs to get to 10+ wins a season?
