new Carver tunnel

I have to admit, given just seeing the one picture, I have no idea what the hell they are doing. Is this for Wrestling AND for BB? Seems like spending this much money they would update more on what they are doing, what is the progress, cool photos, etc.

The team’s that included Ravelings players were better teams than Frans, but I don’t agree about many of his others teams were better. I’d argue Fran’s teams have out performed many of Dr Tom’s teams.
5 round of 32’s and a sweet 16. Post Raveling

A theory i have is that Chris Street's death and the crazy games that followed created a lot of enthusiasm through the end of the TD era. The big ten was kind of the center of cbb world in those fab 5 days and I know we played Duke at least once st home like 94ish, I was there as a HS student.

Just having 1 year of an electrifying player like Ricky Davis helped and I remember the hype when Sam Okie transferred in although that was kind of a dud. I was a student then and for the first 2-3 years of Alford there was a ton of enthusiasm too. It was just a different time with way less substitutes for entertainment with the internet just getting going and no smartphones and streaming options like today

Pierre Pierce is who really shit on the program and Alford giving him another shot only to do it again was devastating to the fan base enthusiasm. Was right when football under KF was having that very nice 3 yr run so people were like F basketball and its mediocrity

Iowa lost by 3 at home vs Duke in Dec of ‘93. In true Iowa fashion, they lost at UC Irvine (who finished last in the Big West) a week later. The Anteaters.

Iowa finished tied for last in the B1G in 1993-94. A feat not accomplished by Alford, Fran, or even Lickliter.

I think it is just to connect the wrestling facility to Carver. I assume that is only reason.

Didn't Fran mention that he thought that there would be possibly some student movement in the near future. The displaced students because of the tunnel will probably have to sit higher up, that should go well. and by the way where is the game day band going to sit now that their area has been eliminated. Maybe they could be positioned behind the visitors bench.

It’s not the arena. It’s the product on the court as far as men’s BBall. Wrestling crowds are insane … and women’s crowds are raucous as well…

Yep, that was the game. Knew it was a big deal as our sophomore coaches let a few of us out of practice to go and it had to be an emergency otherwise. Yeah 5-13 was bad but Fran's 4-14 in 2018 was bad too. Bad season happen here and there

Also forgot to mention Schoolridge and Oliver, those guys were fun as hell to watch. Dre got completely robbed for league mvp to Bobby Jackson, led bten in pts and assists IIRC

I remember that yr they lost a close one to Kentucky second round who made the finals and Pitino said Iowa was the toughest team they played all tourney. Pretty cool
