Only hurts if Weaver and Kelly turn into the major leaguers we thought they could be two years ago.

This is a good deal for the Cardinals. Weaver is clearly the most interesting piece, but maybe Kelly is a long term back up. The Cardinals get to basically go all in for 2019 with a masher in the middle of the line up.

Goldy averages 30 Hrs and 100 Rbis a season,
and is a 6 time All-Star. He solves the Cards
problem at 1B and lets Carpenter go back to 3B.
This should make St. Louis more competitive
against the Cub and Brewers. Cards still need
more pitching help.

If he his healthy, this is a huge move. The Cards desperately need a shut down guy and a healthy Miller fits the bill.

Key word. Might be paying close to 30 million to find out if he's healthy. 34 to start the year and a lot of hard miles on that arm. It's bold.

Obviously there is some risk due to the injuries this past season. The Cardinals medical staff checked him out and their head physician has worked with Miller before and they were confident in where he was at health wise. The upside is huge though and worth the risk.
